Sept 20th orders with October ship date, Apple.com buyers. [MERGED]

I would expect they are holding back the case to arrive at the same time as the phone.

I received my case on September 24, but the gold iPhone won't be arriving within the 14 day return period for the case. I called Apple and complained about it being a bit unfair to not let me try the case on the phone I ordered alongside it. They credited me for the cost of the case (but kept the tax).

I suspect they are now holding cases back to ship with the phones inorder to avoid this problem.

If what you're saying is true, then that's fantastic news. Apple has officially (indirectly) given away a shipping date for "October" orders.

That must mean that all of our launch weekend phones must be shipping by the end of the week (if not the next day or two or three).:D

Idk, they just now ordered me a free case and in 2 minutes it switched to preparing to ship, it says ships in24 hours but that it delivers Oct.10. In my case it's just 2 day shipping but it wont leave china till Monday or Tuesday.

The cases ship from the USA if you are in the USA.

Just curious: did you order the case alongside a phone?

My response was in reference to that particular post. I couldn't imagine that a case would take till the end of the month to be shipped. I might have been grasping at straws, but any small hint is welcome at the moment. If it's a real sign, then I will be extremely happy. If not, back to the drawing board...

Maybe, or maybe that case is also no/low in stock?

No already had the phone order (processing), I called in to inquire as to why if att now has 32gb silver to ship immediately, why am I still waiting with apple, and they offered me a free case.

I believe it was the Apple 5s case, in beige. Those (at least in Canada, where I live) are in extremely high stock. I could just walk into any Apple Retail Store, Best Buy, etc... and pick one off the shelf. I don't know about the stock levels in the US.

Like others I'm just guessing, but I would hope you get it before that time. I have a gold 32gb on order with att with that timeframe and silver 32gb with apple (October), I hoping they ship next week.

Like I posted earlier, I'm just looking for something to believe in. Apple's sample size in terms of orders completed, is not large enough to convince me of anything. They could have anything up their sleeve with an "October" date.

If orders up to September 28th are shipped by this coming friday, then maybe, some actual October orders may be shipped and received by the end of the month. If however orders up to maybe September 25th (or earlier) are completed, then deliveries for orders made today, may not arrive till early November.

This upcoming week is gonna be big for Apple. They have a ridiculous (2 week) backlog, and need to start completing orders ASAP.
 
From what I've seen in the last couple years, it seems like a ship estimate of 3-4 weeks is typical for the first couple months after launch. Though as time goes on it becomes more likely you can find them available to reserve for local in-store pickup, even if it still takes some work.

I'll be interested to see how long it is before they change the shipping estimate to "3-4 weeks" or November. I'd think just a few more days, if demand is holding steady.

When I ordered the 5 last year on October 8th, they said 3-4 weeks. Even if it was 3-4 weeks now, that would still be better than "October":)

Based on some other posts I've seen, it could be a problem processing payment --or one post I saw said they found out their order was being held up because there was an unpaid past-due balance on their cellular account.

Either way, I'd give Apple a call to see if they have additional info on what's holding up your order. I think that particular model should have shipped by now.

"Preparing for shipment". I have auto payment on my cellular account, and was at the local ATT store last week to turn of international roaming from a recent trip, and all was good.

Called Apple around 9 am today right after I received their apologetic email about the delay to request faster shipment, and they said that was not possible at this stage. Didn't mention a payment issue.

As Michael Valentine Smith said, "Waiting is…"

Absolutely. They could alleviate a lot of heartburn if they'd stop being so vague.

I don't mind waiting as long as i'm not trying to guess the ship date that's going to be anywhere from October 6-31, 2013!! :mad:

64Gb Gold, AT&T. Ordered on 20th at 8:39 am CDT. Still says "Processing items". I got a text message on Friday (Oct. 4) from AT&T saying -

"Thank you for your recent iPhone upgrade! Before your order arrives, visit www.att.com/upgradesupport for important info about activating your iPhone."

Guess that means Apple is doing something with my order.

Wouldn't it be such a twist, if our phones were already states-side. Apple was just waiting to tell us that, at this moment. :D

More than likely it isn't true. Doesn't mean we can't hope.:p
