Can anyone clarify how much faster the express shipping is?

Recommended? A waste of money?

So I went ahead and called apple again and started off my conversation by indeed saying that I wanted to file an official complaint. He was extremely sweet about it all we made conversation I told him it was my birthday in the coming week and that I was disappointed and let down by apple. He then tol me he was sorry and that I did order on launch day and those phones should start seeing more movement in status changes within the coming week but that he didn't want to promise anything because he truly doesn't know. So he said he could offer me a case & sent me a case courtesy of apple :D and he said he went ahea and upgraded me to expedited shipping!! I'm happy something to indeed tide me over until my new iPhone does arrive.

Considering the posts in different places here, seems safe to say that most 64gb silvers at least from 24th on up are now shipping.
I am pretty sure there will be people that, unfortunately, ordered on a date before the 24th, and are still waiting...
To those, hang in there, feel your pain.

Forgot...

16 Gb Gold, ordered Sept 24, 5:07pm, still nowhere to be found...

Should have just ordered a Silver. Apple severely underestimated how popular the gold would be.

Underestimating is one thing. But what are they doing now, to correct the shortage? That is the question that matters.

Based upon a post by someone (a page or two before), AT&T has plenty of stock in Silver and or Space Gray. Don't you think it's horrifying that there is so much stock of that, but yet absolutely zero Golds to go around?

The workers at Foxconn could not have been twiddling their thumbs the last week or two. Therefore someone at Apple goofed, in relaying production strategy orders to them. Or, they (Apple) still do not understand (willfully or not) that the demand for Gold is much higher than that of the other two colours.

I would imagine you've got another week before october phones start changing. Ones from launch day still haven't gone out yet.
Does order on Sep 30 fall into this batch too? Lol
I'm so mad at myself for cancelling the order of 9/25 and then changed my mind and had to be in the back of the line again. :( Hope to see some change soon

It is horrifying. If I weren't afraid that changing my order to a 32gb would further delay my device, I'd do it. Something better change this week.

Is the demand for gold higher than that of the other colours, or just much higher than they expected it t be? I think they just made far fewer golds than the other colours because they didn't know if anyone would want it.

To put your post in perspective...

People who ordered Gold 5s, from launch day, still haven't received their phone. When the local Apple Retail stores receive stock, Gold is the first to sell out (that is if they receive any for sale at all).

Apple has had two weeks to correct their "miscalculation". One should hope that in the age of mass production, that shortages might be able to be corrected in a week or so. There are no signs pointing towards Apple actually correcting anything whatsoever, and here we are, still waiting for a Gold 5s.

Has Apple even acknowledged a severe shortage of Gold iPhones ? I know that they said they were ramping up production of phones. I just want something other than October to show up on my order for shipping info.

Doesn't look like the vague October ship date will change until the last week of October. Because obviously there won't be more October

No one knows how many Golds are produced daily, except for Foxconn and Apple HQ. When I called customer service, they acknowledged a "shortage" across the board. They were not specific (or at least avoided being so) regarding which models were subject to longer wait times.

Apple better wake up and do something, otherwise this will blow up in their faces. Just the notion that we could possibly receiving a device (5 weeks into its life cycle) when ordering on launch weekend, is absolutely absurd.

True..but I would appreciate it more if I know that I would receive it on the 31st of October rather than guessing from 7th to 31st.

What you're saying is true... at least we can remove the "false hope builder" out of the equation. Nevertheless, would you not be upset that you ordered on September 20th and received it one month and 11 days later?
