Same boat. I was 8th in line at one of the local AT&T stores. (Closest Apple Store is 2 hours away) One of the AT&T associates came outside and said they only had Space Grey. Everyone started leaving because they wanted gold. Felt bad for the kid first in line. He'd been there since 8pm the day before. He said he wanted gold. Quite a few of us immediately hopped on our phones and ordered from Apple.com.

----------

I've about decided that Apple is confused about the difference between "Launch" and "PreOrder". Feels like we've all Pre ordered and are currently counting down the days until launch day.

Two more freaking hours and it'll be my 7AM EDT time slot. I hope they're not going like 1 week per hour. Otherwise, I would still have to wait for 2 weeks?

Anybody who ordered 5AM-6AM EDT on the 20th? What's the status of your order?

An hour per week!!!! The iPhone 6 will be announced, by the time they get to my order!

Another morning, another disappointing check on my Apple order.
Ordered on 9/20 @ 6:30 AM EST
Gold 32gb ATT
No movement again. Day 18 and counting.

Day 17 (12th business day) of processing. A whole Olympic Games, will have gone by, before this phone arrives. :(

----------

Apple has to be stockpiling Gold 5s. There's no way that 2 week's worth of production, only fulfills 1 hour's worth of orders.

More Progress

Ordered my 32gb gold on September the 20th at 9.30 am and received the confirmation email at 9.42am.
Ordered on Apple UK site and all times are UK GMT
Finally changed to preparing for despatch from processing (07.10.2013)
Checked at 6am (08.10.2013) and now showing despatched with delivery scheduled for 15.10.2013 which is great as i am off from the 14th - 18th so have plenty of time to set up and play etc.
Hope everyone else has some progress soon too

Ordered 1 hour and 2 minutes after the launch and only yesterday status changed to Shipped.

T-mobile 16GB GOLD unlocked

I'm not sure but the shortage of the gold variant is not only in the US but world wide.

Day 18 (12th business day), AT&T 16gb gold iPhone 5s. Still processing, of course.

3 business days more and it would be 3 working weeks total.

Of course the Gold shortage is worldwide. All phones come from china.

Just can't understand what Apple is trying to do. If almost all your orders for everything but gold are complete, isn't it obvious what you should be doing production-wise?

Stop making so much of Silver/Space Gray! Have 80+% of your assembly line, only dedicated to gold production. It seems as if they want us to get fed up, and switch to one of those colours.

It's absolutely disgraceful that it takes a maximum of 1 week to send out Silver/Space Gray, and bordering on three full weeks for Gold.

We don't know if Silver/grey orders were fufilled world wide though. Did everybody here with those colors get their orders?

Sure, I'm making assumptions. However, I know for a fact that if a retail store gets shipments (at least those around my area), extremely rarely will there be gold included. Even if there are any golds, it's usually less than 5 of them (total, not per storage size).

Some people have been saying that AT&T have absolutely no wait, for anything but Gold. It's just frustrating that because we chose gold, our phones could be 5 weeks into their life cycle, before we get them.

Yeah its bad, but I think since Hong Kong orders opened first maybe most people over ordered gold before people in the US. And wahtever they are making is going there first? Anyway I feel your frustration, I only ordered yesterday and I'm already impatient lol (32GB TMO Grey)

If Apple adjusted their daily production yield, to match the percentages of orders (by colour), it may have been solved by now. People who ordered Space Gray or Silver, are having theirs leave china in a week. Were those phones previously made, or made this week?

I need to be talked off the ledge... this is starting to get to me again.:(

I could walk into the Easton town center Apple Store this AM and grab a silver 16gb AT&T from them and walk out. tempted, ordered gold on launchday at 8:44am.

Day 19

Gold 64GB AT&T

No movement. "Processing items"

Same for me...Ordered at 7am...same exact model and carrier...

The only other thing I can imagine is that the anodizing process for the gold is/was not yielding a high pass rate in QA/QC. That is the only thing I can think of as to this incredible backlog in addition to China's holiday.
