So I woke up to go pee at 5:30am. I checked a local Apple store and they had a gold iPhone, I was completing checkout but by the end someone already reserved it.

I then check another store close to where my friend lives and was able to get a 32GB Gold AT&T! Finally!!

I had an order from Sept 20th for gold on AT&T for my fiancé. I just canceled that today because I found one at a local Apple store. But when clicked checkout someone already reserved it...very frustrating! I'll just keep checking the website everyday so I can do a local pickup.

Apple definitely dropped the ball on this!

don't cancel web order till you have on in your hand and have checked it out for defects.

Well if its any consolation, most of the people who had theirs ship were all 16GB... maybe that was all they made/still had in stock.

You have to have the testicles to cancel your order first, wait 10-15 min and hope you can still reserve a phone for pickup. Or get to go to the back of the line.

I see, excuse my ignorance.
I have baying phones outright for a few years now. when upgrading to new I sell the old. paying £16 per month for unlimited texts, unlimited national calls, and a gigabyte of data. there are probably better deals out there too.

We all hope for that to happen...

Spoke to an Apple Online Store Executive Relations Rep (last night) and this is what she said: "I understand your frustration over the shipping/delivery estimates changing 3 times in a matter of a few hours. The reason why Apple changed the last one to October, is because we don't want to promise anything, and then have to apologize afterwards. When we say October, that could mean October 1st, 15th, or 31st. We don't really know when the phones are going to leave the factory."

It doesn't inspire confidence, and that was coming from high up in the chain of command. Not the same Reps (Apple's peons) telling you the same sugarcoated spiel.

Ordered my 32gb gold ATT on launch day 6:00 am. Still in processing. Just cancelled my order. Silly its taking this long and im liking that chatter im hearing on the 6. Slightly bigger, curved thin glass etc. Apple should feel embarrassed by this debacle. I doubt this would happen if Jobs were still here. take care guys.

When I canceled my order as soon as I got the email confirming my cancelation which took about 1 minute my upgrade was ready to use again.

Well Jobs was still here when the white iPhone 4 was announced and how long was it unavailable after the launch? 6 months or more?
This kind of stuff happens at almost every Apple launch... unfortunately.
