Me thinks that while you accuse a whole group of people (those with a functional conscience), you're convicting only yourself.
This is a really dumb question, but how do I start a chat with an apple store rep? The chat button never appears beside the phone number, regardless of whether or not I'm on a product page or have anything in my cart. I tried earlier in the day as well, during business hours, and it didn't appear then either.
That doesn't seem to be working for me... on the snow leopard page, not even the phone number appears, and on the general "Mac Software" page, there's room for the chat button, but it doesn't appear. Mousing over the empty area reveals that there's a link, but it just links to # and clicking it doesn't do anything. The same thing is happening in both Safari 4 and FF3. :|

I just tried it again. Clicked on snow leopard upgrade, and then held the mouse under the blue part just under the word store and it appeared.
My status still hasn't updated after 5 hours, even though an Apple Phone rep told me it had been prepared for shipment and would be delivered on 8/28. Here is a chat log I had with another rep about 15 minutes ago:

You: Hello Randal, I'm sure you've had to field a lot of questions like this today... but I placed an Up-To-Date order for Snow Leopard on 8/23.

You: I called earlier and an Apple phone person told me my Snow Leopard was prepared for shipment and would be out for delivery tomorrow.
Randal: Alright.
You: However, my order still says Not yet shipped and my credit card has not been charged yet.

Randal: You would need to keep visiting apple.com/orderstatus for info, that page would be updated as new info becomes available.
You: OK. Will the Up To Date Snow Leopard discs be delivered on 8/28? When I called earlier I was told by a phone rep that my order was prepared for shipment. However, the status on my order page has not updated yet. This was about 5 hours ago.

Order still not shipped. Apple really does make things easier. With their twisted shipping systems and their love of making customers squirm as they give you no helpful info. Their chat people contradict themselves. Apple failed me. And they've failed everyone that was pushed to the back of the shipping line because they only care about your money. Customer satisfaction is no longer Apples specialty. It might have been before I started buying their products but it isn't anymore. Thanks again for ruining my Friday,.

Well this is interesting now... I'm getting no Chat link anywhere, nor am I getting phone number on Snow Leopard page. I'm getting phone number on all the other pages. Apple is probably trying to prevent us all from asking Chat folks about Snow Leopard haha
My Up to Date disk has not shipped either. Are these representatives serious when they say I am supposed to receive it tomorrow? It says not yet shipped and is supposed to ship by tomorrow. It doesn't matter all that much, but I'd like to know if I'm supposed to expect it tomorrow because I have a golf tournament I am playing in at 11am.
I just spent $1500 on a new laptop, plus $10 on a $30 upgrade, I would expect to get it the SAME day as everyone else. Apple has changed since I started using them 12 years ago.
