Snow Leopard Shipping? [merged]

This sux, the US isn't getting shipments today, just people outside the US. Damn, Apple is a US company, why are we getting them after everyone else? Should've just drove to my local Apple store and picked one up. The up-to-date wasn't a ton of savings anyway.
Wrong. No one in the UK got them either.
Apple is falling apart here - the people who pre order are usually the ones who need it at that day
I'm installing it on my UBMBP right now and when I'm done I'll post the build number.
I'm doing a clean install. Disk utility, erase, then install.

My UTD order still says 2nd September ... I'm in no rush for the disc to come through, my iMac is still running the best OS on the market and flies, so it's not like I'm sitting here with an unusable system is it?
To those complaining that their discs won't be here till next week, seriously, as others have said ... get a life people.
It's the Bank Holiday here in the UK, and I plan to spend the next few days out and about with my wife and our labrador since we finally have some free time available out with work at the same time.
There's more to life than sitting refreshing a shipping status page and festering because someone who paid £25/$29 got the disc before you.
Your Mac works fine right now with Leopard, just as it did yesterday. The real reason you're all pissed is because you can't bear the thought of being without "the latest", and that's even more pathetic when you consider it's a computer operating system.

I don't think its dependent on where you live. Like the OP, I live in Ontario, Canada (Toronto) and I have not received my UTD disk. In fact, the status is still "not yet shipped". It probably won't be sent out today, because it would have changed to "prepared for shipping".
again idk about that, my gf ordered the UTD disk and it still says not shipped yet, and we called apple last night and they said some of the order statuses are not getting updated but he confirmed hers was shipped

You can pre-sign for your shipment through your order status page on Apple's website. But you have to be able to print out the page, sign it, and place it on your door at the delivery location.
If your still at home but have to leave before it will be delivered this will work. If your not at home then I would try picking it up at the FedEx depot after 5. You are allowed to do this after at least one failed delivery attempt.
Leave a note at the door, saying you r authorize them to leave the package with yoru full name and then signature and the date. It works great and all of the time for me for Few Ex UPS etc etc

I just checked my order status, and it shows as "Shipped on: Aug 27, 2009 via US POSTAL SERVICE" and that it delivers by Sept. 1. I talked to a chat representative and told him that I was told that delivery to all Snow Leopard orders would be deliver by today.
He told me that Up-to-Date orders would ship today.
I again said that I was told otherwise.
He said that there may have been a mixup and that Apple doesn't issue guarantees on deliveries and that I should call for any more assistance.
I dread the thought of that.
I'm no unset because I'm not getting Snow Leopard t'day, it's the fact that I was told I would. Then again, Apple did say Sept. when I ordered, couldn't expect anything more than that.

It never once said that Snow Leopard UTD discs would be DELIVERED BY the 28th, it said they would SHIP BY.
There's a massive difference.
Perhaps an Apple rep via the online help confused the meaning of delivered by and shipped by when they informed you otherwise, but the official line has always been SHIPS BY 28th August.

I can see why many would be upset about not getting it today. I am in the same position. Really, I can wait. It would be great to get it today and I'm very excited, but I'm not expecting it anymore as it's getting to be afternoon now.
What does bother me is the poor customer service surrounding this release and the pure lack of communication. They should have been up front with people in stating that some orders will not arrive on release day instead of stating that orders placed by Wednesday would arrive for sure.
I was told both in chat last night and on the phone this morning that my Up to Date disc would arrive today, even after I mentioned that my card has not been charged yet and it shows "Not yet shipped". Both times the reps told me that didn't matter and it will be here on the 28th as I ordered on Aug. 7th, well before the deadline for delivery today.
Either way, I'm not going to die having to wait until next week.

I had a $10 gift card for best buy so I just went and got it for $15. I have no patients at all lol. The up to date disc will go on ebay when I get it.
EDIT: I'm anal and have to have the OEM packaging anyway, I have all the boxes displayed in my computer room since Jaguar.
