Snow Leopard Shipping? [merged]

My order status has changed to shipped. It should arrive by September 1.

The postal service has made it's run for today so it definitely won't be here for me to play with tonight. Best hope for playing with it over the weekend would be for it to arrive tomorrow. Somehow, I doubt that'll be the case.

*** UTD order was placed on June 18.
 
My order status just got updated...
"Shipped on: Aug 27, 2009 via US POSTAL SERVICE"
WTF? I would never pre-order anything with Apple in future. Horrible experience.

i originally put "special service" in quotes as that is what i was told, but i'm not sure i believe it.

the usps has their standard services, and they're well-documented.

the rep also told me "there is never any way to track packages with USPS", and that's clearly not right. (well, it is *technically* correct as usps offers delivery confirmation, not tracking, but she and i were speaking in the context of having ANY number associated with a package.)

i doubt apple has any special service with the usps. however, if you happen to live near a warehouse i suspect some UTD orders may arrive today (unlikely) or tomorrow (more likely), with the rest coming next week.

I think for the US people with UTD orders Delivers September 1st is just an estimate. Mine was shipped yesterday via US Postal Service and I also live in California (i'm assuming it shipped from Cupertino), and usually anything shipped from California takes about a day maybe 2, so it should get here today or tomorrow. We'll see though.
 
ordered on august 5th through the up to date program but it still hasn't shipped yet. its not a huge deal but it is upsetting that others who ordered after me are receiving theirs earlier especially after being told i would receive it on the 28th.

yes, it is just an estimate.

if it was shipped via USPS priority mail, delivery would be 2-3 days within the US. however, it was apparently NOT shipped via priority mail. even so, whether it was 1st class mail or priority, depending on your proximity to the shipping location, sometimes 1st class can be delivered in a day.

just wish we had a straight answer.

also, the $9.95 shipping on the UTD's is clearly not going just to the cost of shipping. (and, from the sounds of it, if the UTD's do not ship with retail packaging, it clearly didn't go there, either.)
 
Yeah usually first class mail for me in California is delivered within a day so I should have it today, maybe tomorrow, at the latest Monday, but definitely not September 1st. But it's ok cuz I already installed Snow Leopard and theres no big difference I don't understand why everyone is freaking out.

I don't get why Purolator still has no idea where my package is. My donkey must have gotten off the beaten trail
 
USPS just came (in LA) and no snow leopard. :( I ordered UTD so, unless it was shipped Fedex, hopefully it'll come tomorrow, maybe Monday.

According to Apple customer service, my UTD order may have already shipped even though the status still says "not yet shipped" on the website, and "prepared for shipment" on their system. Apparently the tracking system is backlogged because of the order volume.
 
My UTD has shipped via USPS too. No biggie, USPS are pretty reliable - far more so than UPS have been with my deliveries. Besides, I chose Standard shipping so I'm getting what I paid for I guess :rolleyes:

This is the only thing I have an issue with. I don't mind that I won't be getting my copy today, but I do have a problem with someone who ordered 6 days ago getting their copy before I get the copy I ordered in June. Mine is UTD, but still is yet to change from "Not yet shipped." You would think shipping would go on a first come, first serve basis with pre-orders.
 
Just shipped today via USPS. Arrives Sept 1. Really hope I get it before that. I leave for Germany for 10 months on Sept 1. UTD order.
 
For my experience using the USPS with online orders, is that they show up about 1-3 days after the company says they shipped. so i'd bet that the UTD orders (mine included) show up either saturday or monday. but that's just my guess.
 
They did not email me a shipping notice either, I had to log into the Apple store to check the order status and that's when I noticed it had shipped
