(From experience,) is there a regular time that apple.com updates their website on Tuesdays where new products are released (new offers)? 12 midnight est? 9 am est tuesday?

And don't say it is completely random because I want some false sense of security here.

Usually a press release around 8 am East Coast USA time or -5 GMT.

I really hope they will launch the BTS-action this month, because I want to order an iMac as soon as my PC is sold.

This is starting to make me think that maybe Apple is discontinuing the BTS promotion...

Its total BS. Seeing as this is a tradition somewhat; couldnt Apple just make an announcement and state they arent offering the promotion this year. Nope. Not Apple. Everything is a big secret.

So the difference between the student discount and back to school promo is a free iPod Touch, correct? Am I missing something else? Thanks.

Its getting silly now

seriously, this foolishness has gone on long enough. Ive been waiting so long to get this friggin imac, PLEASE ANNOUNCE IT ;(

It has also been rumored that this year's promotion will include $200 off an iPad.

Well the current sales pitch at the Apple Online Store is about Father's Day, so I want to guess it will kick in after then.

They are also promoting recent college graduates to make a purchase as well to use their education credit while they still can.

I'm assuming this is the message that's been up since last fall...anybody know for sure

http://store.apple.com/us/browse/campaigns/back_to_school

"The “Buy a Mac for college, and get a free iPod touch” promotion is no longer available. But if you’re a college student or a teacher or faculty member at any grade level, you qualify for education pricing on Mac computers and software all year round."

Yep, it's an old message from when the promotion ended last year.

I'm just waiting to pull the trigger, I really hope it arrives in the next couple of days as wwdc winds down.

yep thats it but still you could sell it for about 200$ so it is significant.

Sure, I just wanted to confirm it. I have been waiting to buy iMac for about a year. First Sandy Bridge and now this, I just wanted to double check to refresh my memory what I am waiting for.

Not sure of the question. The difference between getting a free iPod Touch and NOT getting a free iPod Touch is....an iPod Touch :)

If Apple is going to do the Back to School (which I think they will) good chance it will be after fathers day. No sense for apple to give away what they can sell.

Has Father's Day ever affected previous Back to School promos?

I'm predicting June 14th. It coincides with this article: http://www.9to5mac.com/70490/apple-to-release-mac-os-x-lion-on-june-14th/

Obviously we know June 14th isn't the release date of Lion anymore, but there are rumors there will be store changes on June 14th. It'll be either for BTS or Father's Day sale (has there ever been a Father's Day sale before?).

Just a guess.

If it is announced on June 14th, will Apple retroactively apply the BTS promotion to those who purchased iMacs this week?

I was told they have to be on the same receipt.

Are their really that many people in here that ACTUALLY qualify for the student discount? I thought about waiting, but then I remembered that I AM NOT A STUDENT, so I bought an iMac now to enjoy now.

Are we not all students of life? ;);)

Surely that qualifies us in the offers T&C's.

I thought so, but I couldn't find "Everyday Learnings in the Life of Me" in their list of approved schools that qualify for the educational discounts.

I am getting more and more pessimistic that they won't offer it. It feels as if the 14th promotion is for father's day. and...

Microsoft is offering an XBox. Wouldn't Apple have offered something by now to compete? I know Apple is in their own little world but it seems stupid to wait this long.

I haven't read anything about ipod's being in low supplies.

And if apple sales/ownership/(whatever that number was for) have increased by 20 something percent recently. Then why would Apple be motivated to do it again?

If I don't see it by the 15th, I'm just gonna get my iMac by then.

Any thoughts?

14-15th is my deadline as well. I really don't need or want the iPod Touch and already have an iPad 2, so getting this deal is just a bonus and I may either sell the iPod or give it as a gift.

This will be my first Mac ever, so I am kind of excited, and considered ordering it last night after the BTS deal did not show up. I figured I could talk customer care into giving me the deal afterwards, but realized that If I ordered it now, it will probably (based on Apple's estimates) get to me middle of next week, which wouldn't work for me (would not be available to receive it). I'll wait till about the 15th and will order, BTS sale or not.

Now that I know that we'll be getting Lion for free if we purchase between now and when ever it is released in July, I'm going to give Apple until the end of this month, June 28, to announce their BTS promotion. If they announce it then, great, if they don't, then I'll be making the necessary arrangements to go ahead and buy my iMac in the subsequent days.

EDIT

I just realized that father's day is on the 19th. You guys might want to wait until the 21st to see an announcement instead of the 14th before buying the iMac. What's another week at this point?
