IF it does indeed have a retina display, not much else matters to me and I will definitely be buying. I had fun queuing for the iPad 2 last year (though here in the Netherlands it's not as crazy as in the US, I don't think I'd like to be in the queue in NY for example...) so I'm looking forward to doing that again this year if I have the time.

I will buy it when it comes out. I am debating on camping out, or per-ordering online if possible.

CAN'T WAIT!! This will be my first iPad. Also will be my first launch line I'll be waiting in on launch day. I was on vacation when the iPhone 4S launch day was. So got it that Monday instead. Won't be at Fifth Ave NYC though. I'm a snow bird in Fort Myers til May so I'll camp out at the Estero, FL store 20 min away. Hell, it'll be warmer all night anyways than NYC.

I may pick up an iPad 2, I'm not really concerned with getting into long lines and all that drama that seems to come with new apple releases. iPad 2 is all I need. I'm more interested in Mountain Lion and a new Macbook Pro.

I will be getting the iPad 3 when ever amazon has it in stock. Last year did amazon have iPad 2 on release day?

Amazon doesn't even sell the iPad. Unless you're speaking of the third-party sellers on there.

May upgrade if:

1. It truly has a retina display
2. I can continue to use my AT&T Unlimited data sim
3. It supports LTE and I can still use my unlimited data sim with that.

My gf has a non-retina display iphone, and seeing the difference side by side constantly makes it a compelling upgrade just for that reason.

After careful consideration, I will be getting an iPad 3 when it comes out. I'm looking to replace my Macbook as the centerpiece of my home computing, but I don't truly need to "upgrade" it. Basically as long as I can type my documents on it and occasionally browse the net, I'm ok. It can serve the same purpose as a desktop did a generation ago for some people.

An iPad would be more portable than a Macbook Air, and would allow me to carry my magazines and books in a very thin device, the same way an iPod/iPhone does for our music collections. Everything ties in neatly.

If it has the same ppi as the 4S, then for sure.

I, too, do a lot of reading with it and have the higher ppi will significantly help get rid of the fuzziness.

Did anyone camp in Southern California last year? Wondering what type of line to expect.
I know the lines in NYC were crazy but not too sure about the situation elsewhere.

I know the lines in NYC were crazy but not too sure about the situation elsewhere.

Additionally, what are the lines like the second day? I know some people HAVE to have it the first day but it seems like such a headache to wait for hours the first day.

Depending on the goodies, but if it has the "retina" display and LTE, for sure. I also work part time in local Apple Premium Reseller (We don't have any real Apple Stores here in Finland) so I will not have any problems getting one!

Cheers

I've got an iPad 1 at the moment. If the iPad 3 does have a Retina display then I'm pretty much certain I'll upgrade. Even if it doesn't then I think I'll be mighty tempted to upgrade anyway. I've now got an iPhone 4S and it makes my iPad 1 feel really sluggish.

Yep, getting it. The 1 was passed down to a family member. Same fate for the 2. I have the luckiest family in the world. :p
