So this is why i had to enter my passcode yesterday morning. I assumed it did some sort of update that i wasn't aware of.

No big deal for me personally since i was asleep; but i can imagine it being annoying for someone who was awake at the time; and also the implication that apple can remotely turn your device on and off is concerning.

Not an iOS 17 bug, as the first time I noticed this was still on 16.x

This just further reinforces why to Hold off upgrading to iOS 17.X.X. Once they (Apple) eliminate all the kinkies and there’s a proven track record, might as well wait until the revised OS is matured. Until then, stay stable.

Not specific to iOS 17 unfortunately. It's actually one of the more stable releases.

Been in the Apple land for 18 years now, I always update after .2 if I can wait, otherwise at least after .1

I noticed that I had to enter my passcode on my iPhone 15 Pro a few days ago after taking it off charge in the morning. Weirdly, it was the first night I'd charged it overnight via MagSafe. The first week or so I'd just used the cable and this apparently hadn't happened.

Maybe it's just my imagination, but when I wake up at 2am and look at my iPhone 15 Pro, it's dark, but once I'm looking at it, it lights up and shows me the time. Is it watching for movement? I don't have to shake the side table like I used to with my Apple Watch Ultra to make it light up.
Is your phone on charge during the night? My watch does this if I’m charging it. I have “always on” off. If I go near the watch it will turn the display on.

I noticed this yesterday too on my 15 Pro Max. I have the SIM pins enabled and It was asking me to enter the PIN in the morning which I did find strange. Now I know it was this bug that caused it.

My iPhone 15 Pro Max did shut off the night before last. In forums in Germany there are a lot of people reporting the same problem, regardless the type.

Not facing this issue on my iPhones. Hopefully Apple will address the issue.

Haven't had this yet but I've had quite a few occasions where my 15 Pro just randomly stops recording video for no reason even though I have well over 400GB of space available.
This happened to me just yesterday on my 15 Pro with at least 100 GB free. Weirdly the video display froze while recording, but the time counter continued for a while as if it was still recording. A few seconds of that and then it stopped entirely. The video was saved to the camera roll.

My iPhone 13 mini restarted overnight this week. Never did it before iOS 17. It was asking 'passcode required after restart to enable FaceID'

Uhm, my SE2022 did the same thing last Monday. In the morning when I took my phone off the charger, it prompted me to put in the SIM pin. That's how I know it mysteriously rebooted somehow during the night. Haven't seen this behavior since.
