Some MacBook Pro Models Seeing Significantly Extended Delivery Times Due to Lockdowns in China

I ordered my 14" m1 max the day of the announcment and it came a week later. I feel for those who have had their orders indefinitely delayed. This worldwide situation is a mess, but I hope you all get your orders soon.

So, what happened to Tim Cookie diversifying supply chain?
That didn't happen. Apple has mitigated every problem they've encountered in China by throwing money at it. China is about to take a hard fall and it will effect Apple very badly. But its their own fault (both China and Apple).
As the saying goes: If you lay down with dogs, you wake up with fleas.

Probably a good deal since refurbs will probably be bought up depending on how bad delays get. And it sounds like the price wasn’t too different even with double the RAM.

I really wanted a new one, but didn’t want to risk any further delays, I thought May 9-16 was already a awfully long wait.
The refurb should be here Monday. I have a refurb 2015 MBP and it’s been fine. Only thing you have to watch is the number of cycles on the battery, though.

Tip: work in EDU. We get prioritized by Apple, getting our machines in a timely manner, making you guys wait even longer, muahahaha.

Canceled my order and bought a refurb 16" Max/64GB/4TB, it will be here on Monday. I originally ordered a 16" Pro/32GB/4TB for slightly less coin, hadn't been charged for it yet.
Probably good timing that you bought the Max. My guess is that what's in stock will be gone before long given extended waits getting worse.

I ordered an entry-level 64GB Ipad 9th Gen, here in Korea. I was quoted until May 5-10. Any idea if that model will be affected by today's news?

iMac is available as long as you don’t choose a custom build. As soon as you increase ram for example there is a few week wait

Hopefully the situation improves soon.
Things are really bad in China. The manufacturing side of the company I work for has come to a halt as everyone who can is now working from home, everyone else (factory staff) are locked up at home for a few weeks at least.

I guess I got pretty lucky in getting a MBP 14" 64 GB then. It was just, magically, in stock with a local retailer. I was thinking these machines would always be BTO and most shops would only stock a couple of default models.

Their entire product line stems from China, not a smart idea as we can see, but that cheap labour though hmm
Automated n robotic manufacturing & assembly is still a lot cheaper. Less suicides or bad press to deal with n never sleeps unless maintenance needed.

Does this mean a new Mac now will have to undergo 2 weeks of quarantine before turning it on or handling it?
Leave it in the box for 2 weeks?
Contaminated box?
Contaminated packing materials?
Contaminated outer enclosure?
Contaminated inner components that the fan will blow into the room?

No, as proven by CDC that catching the virus from surfaces is a 1 in 10,000 chance.. And long dead by the time it arrives in your mailbox.. :)

I would suggest catching up on the John Hopkins study which makes it clear, that lockdowns don't work for this virus..

That's a long delay.

Imagine if pricing for slightly used MBP's with M1 Max and M1 Pro chips end up like used car prices where you can sell it for more than you paid? 🤣

The normal since launch - the base M1 Max hasn't been readily available anywhere. I've sold systems to people who ordered November 1st and they finally arrived mid March - some are still waiting.

Yup - My Apple Studio Display w/VESA mount order (previously expected 7-14 Apr) has, this morning, been pushed back by more than 2 months to 17.Jun - 1.Jul. Order placed in the UK.
I'm in similar situation with w/VESA mount. Scheduled delivery on Apr 22nd, waiting for information but expecting it to be delivered in summer :(

Mac studio 64gb ram (Uk) have to wait until mid-end of July, this 3 month wait has been in effect since before the lockdown.
(Had to return my initial mac studio due to a Bluetooth problem)

I am sure apple has been working around the clock to move their manufacturing out of China. /s I know these things can take a long time (decade or longer) but they should have their rears in gear.

My Mac Studio Ultra made it in, but I am still waiting for my display to ship. I got the tilt/adjustable version. It was suppose to ship before the computer. I can always snag another monitor to hold me over.

My Ultra arrived in Hong Kong on April 2, moved to Taiwan on April 9, and arrived at my home on April 11 (5 days past original UPS delivery date). Things are pretty backlogged, but once it leaves HK, it should get to you quickly.
I just got notification, it is on it's way and should be at the delivery point by tomorrow. I guess it's time to start rearranging desk space. (The Studio is going where the M1 Mini is, with a few more monitors. The M1 is going where the iMac is, with a few less monitors. The iMac is going in the server closet until I am sure I have all the files off of it that I need.)
