irritating

yeah, I love it that I'm part of the 1% whose email isn't working at all. My question is, is the 1% going to get an extension on their MobileMe subscription. It's just irritating when you let everyone know of your changed e-mail address and then have to go back and tell them that it's not working yet.

Serious issues with MM

Count me in as one of the unfortunates:

1) Incoming mail just doesn't work at all
2) Calendars rarely load
3) Push? Yeah, I have to push the button to manually sync
4) Tech Support? Non-existent

I'm having WAY more problems with the iPhone 2.0 software than MobileMe, but MM hasn't exactly been smooth either. Push seems to work when it feels like it, and there's so much inconsitency among all my macs/devices. I THINK I'm getting all my mail...or am I? I'm honestly not sure. This is the first time in over 20 years of being a loyal mac addict that I'm questioning my favorite company.

NOTHING is working very well. MobileMe took forever to activate for me, and it still isn't smooth. My iPhone crashes several times a day, it seems. I've felt a level of unease for days now, that I've NEVER felt before regarding Apple. I keep wondering when things are going to go back to how they were before, but it feels like there's more bad news every day.

Apple really dropped the ball on this one. I'll never in my right mind spend 100$ for this nonsense. Email should be free. Apple needs to get off their high-horse and allow for push service for free email accounts like the Blackberry did. I hope this service fails miserably.

I thought you had to pay 40 a month for have a blackberry upon your regular cellular service. Isn't that what pays for the email?

My mail is working, but delivery is S-L-O-W.

I send an e-mail from my Gmail and work e-mail accounts and it took almost three hours to deliver. Was quicker last week. Not sure if the slowness started today. I first thought the Push to the iPhone was the problem, but I signed into .me and did not get message until later.

:(

well i was thinkin bout geting this but with all the problems they had i found another alternative with push email mobile2web and its free and works on my ipod touch cant complain about it the only thing im not geting is the disc space but aol has that too.

don't get it. though no where on the MobileMe website does Apple admit this, but it doesn't work with exchange. so, if you're work pc has outlook and works with exchange you can't sync your calendars or contacts with MobileMe or your iphone or your mac at home. moreover, my email has yet to push.

apple hasn't responded to a single support email i've sent. i am wicked pissed.

i need email folders, so i can't use gmail. does anyone have a recommendation for email service (don't say hotmail!).

I think you hit it right on the money. This is my exact experience. Typing emails: hope my keyboard works after this restart... Typing text messages: HA! finding contacts: HA HA!

This is beyond disappointing. I was patient during the transition period, because I felt the end result would make up for the rocky start. I use my dot mac account as my primary email address. I'm not getting email regularly and it certainly isn't quickly pushed to my iPhone.

And you can't even call to talk to anyone about it. It's a stupid online chat that takes an hour to get a representative who is going to be useless anyway.

I've been a user since iTools, but I'm going to ask for a refund and I'm going to go to a hosted Exchange server. I had that on my BlackBerry and it was rock solid with little to no down time.

I know nothing is perfect, but it's like Apple's not even trying to communicate a realistic estimated time of resolution. This would be a lot easier to bear if Apple communicated with customers. But they just sit there tight-lipped and expect people to just bend over and take it.

I want a refund or some Vaseline. This is ridiculous.

Posts like this are probably a bit lame, but other than a couple of days after launch mm has worked perfectly for me.. I wonder how big that "1%" really Is though..

MobileMess is cursed by it's name and creepy icon. The name for its relation to Windows ME. Worst OS ever. And the Icon for its bizzaro Hello Kitty vibe. :D

Hopefully, Apple will apply the Snow Leopard concept across all their products over the next year. Not just OS X.

What I mean by this is that it is time to really spend some time polishing and solidifying everything that is out there. The iPhone is a great device already. 2.0 firmware was cool. We don't need a 3.0 with a ton of new whiz-bang features right away. We just need some stability for what we currently have.

I was recently surprised to find that my original iPhone + official 2.0 software is running poorly. My contacts app runs like a total dog. Several apps from the app store just crash upon opening (the fixes mentioned on this site and elsewhere don't work for me.)

About the MobileMe problems- I wonder if Apple didn't spread it a little too thin this time. For example, do we really need web 2.0 versions of all the apps we already have on our desktop, laptop, iPhone and iTouch? I guess it is nice for some people, dunno... just seems that all I really want the service for is synching data between machines/devices (and even accounts on the same machine- my wife and I have separate accounts but share a calendar and address book.) I reluctantly pay $99 for this a year, but every time I feel that it really isn't worth $100 a year. I wish my stuff could just sync on my LAN using OS X and Bonjour. That would make me happy.

they have no phone support..!!

Hey All GMAIL IS FREE
and it never goes OFFLINE

i cant afford not to get email for a few days ( 100+ emails a day)
i would loose to much business and miss to many meetings

i letting mobile me expire in aug and not getting another year for 100$

I've been without e-mail since Friday at noon. I've remained patient, but at the same, my MobileMe/.mac address is my primary e-mail, so it really has been a huge inconvenience. It usually doesn't take Apple this long to correct problems such as these.

I feel your pain. I'm in the process of a job hunt and I had to get a google email because my .me account is also my main

Fyi

They will prorate a refund should you decide to cancel. I'm going to look into a hosted exchange server (like I had with BlackBerry) and probably cancel.

I just had a useless chat with Dani from MobileMe support. I asked her how Apple can expect to remain competitive with hosted exchange providers who have significantly less down time, offer 24/7 phone support, and have technical support representatives who are able to provide a thorough answer to questions that are asked.

You could ALMOST hear the crickets chirping.

If it's not fixed by tomorrow, I'm going the hosted Exchange route. If I'm going to pay for something, I expect to get what I'm paying for. If I have to pay a little more than $99/year to get something that works as advertised, I'm not opposed to it.

I think I am going to do the same.

How about a refund in the form of Vaseline?

I think the cloud icon is even more appropriate than we originally thought. Apple switched from the .Mac network icon to the cloud because with MobileMe, not even Apple is sure where your data is!

If I have a home server could I make my own Exchange server? Or how would I go about switching. I keep seeing mentions of getting an exchange server so I am curious how everyone else plans on doing it?

Almost Forgot

Dani from MobileMe tech support suggest I turn off push notification on my iPhone in order to "fix" the problem. She said, "It's not working right now." My guess is that Dani is her secret identity and that she's really the famed superhero Captain Obvious.

Turning push off doesn't FIX anything!

I'm interested in this as well. Can someone comment or point to a good thread/how to? I've done some searching but have got a zillion hits and not sure exactly what to look for.
