Ok, have you tried logging in with a new user account?

I used the guest account and then logged in to the MAS and the updates appeared.

You could also try registering the iLife '11 apps with the AppleID you want to upgrade with.
I tried the account method, still shows up as a purchase. I haven't tried to register them using my AppleID, will try that. Thanks.

Any Apple love for us still on iWork 08?

(I know I should've upgraded it a while ago)
I'm on 08 too. Not seen any hints for a free update. I always assumed I would have to pay anyway. I've done pages and will wait and see if anything happens with Numbers and Keynote. I hardly need these apps nowadays anyway.

Update today

I had purchased the disk copies of iWork when it came out. It would not allow me to update last night, but this morning they magically popped up in the Mac App Store to update for free. No issues.

Relax

I have the original iWork and iLife programs installed on my Late 2008 MacBook Pro, which I ordered with the Mac in early 2009. I was able to upgrade these programs to the newest versions last night, for free (in the App Store). Give it some time. The servers are being pounded by users downloading OS X, iTunes, iOS 7.0.3, and all the apps that go these updates.... Relax.... It happens all the time when Apple releases updates.

Help.. So I have a 2009 iMac with Pages on (And iMovie etc) and have today purchased a new macbook - will I be able to get all this software for free on both machines (As in its my apple id not the machine that is authorised to the software) ?

Updates showed up on MAS

I had the same experiences as others (my DVD installed iWork 9) was not recognized by MAS. This morning however, MAS prompted me to update to the new versions. I suspect it's an issue with MAS that is now being resolved.

For me (iMac 2012), both iPhoto and iMovie showed "install" with no price. iPhoto updated with no problems. Tried the same with iMovie and it claimed it wasn't purchased from the App store and I would have to buy it. said OK and it downloaded, apparently without really having to buy it.

or better check your visa charges ion a couple days...

Or check your purchase history in iTunes rather than MAS

Thanks!

I got the iWork and iLife apps simply by installing 10.9 into a parallels machine then signing in with my Apple ID :D

Was having issues with it telling me the apps were downloaded with another ID previously

I could'nt get it to work on my real MAC which is on the first GM of Mavericks. Using the Parallels trick and the Second GM 13A603 worked by installing '09 from DVD and update from MAS.
Thanks a lot :):apple:

I foolishly rushed updating Pages and Numbers, and ended up getting charged. I waited on updating Keynote and sure enough, a couple of hours later it shows up as upgrade eligible.

Now to see if the MAS will credit me for the $40 I should not have spent.

Hasty much?

----------

Before upgrading to Mavericks it did look as though I had to purchase them, just be aware Mavericks is required.

Really? I didn't see anywhere that said that... No love for us ML users who are waiting out a few weeks to look for any issues.

Why pay when you know you should get an update for free? Obviously one would suspect a problem and then look into to it in order to confirm.

Purchasing so quickly was foolish, although I can see how a refund should be issued.

Agreed, but unfortunately there are a number of posters who insisted there wasn't an upgrade path for users who installed from a DVD so an easy mistake to make.

The App Store doesn't even recognise my legitimate copy of iWork that I installed via DVD...

EDIT: Oh wait... It finally did. :/

Got all the programs for iLife and iWork for free (had the previous versions), and the nice thing is I had iWork on DVD, and before it never updated through the App Store, but now it did.

However, the new iPhoto plays my slideshows from end to beginning!

Anyone else with this issue?

Is Garageband working for you? Mine just keeps crashing everytime I open it (2012 MBA).

I have just managed to use my old iWork 09 license to upgrade to the new versions. All you need to do is install iWork '09 and it should prompt a software update, otherwise just go into the App Store to do this.

Not true. Apple is offering the update to everyone who purchased iLife / iWork, even if outside the MAS. I bought iLife 11, yet the App Store prompted me to 'accept' licenses from the purchase page. However, not so with iWork yet :(

I have iWork '09 installed from the discs, so what is the plan to fix this?

----------

Is iWork free now too ?

Free with purchase of a new mac as of yesterday, or free if you have older versions (unless, for the moment, you installed iWork from a disc instead of the MAS).

What worked for me...

I was just as perplexed as everyone else. But I figured out iWork for myself. Here's what worked.

1. I did a clean install from my install media for iWork.
2. At the completion of the process, I then REGISTERED iWork with that standard submission form that I usually skip on most software (I like a clean inbox).
3. Next I started each app. When I started Pages, I receive a dialogue box informing me of an update. I clicked on update now. Repeated for each app.
4. My Mac App Store now showed three updates in software updates.
5. However, I clicked on each app under the featured window and hit 'update'
6. When I did so for each app, I received a message that requested my AppleID credentials so that it could 'associate this purchase with my AppleID' (or something along those lines)
7. Each item downloaded!

I think the critical process was one of two things. Either 'registering' the product in the final step of the original media install--which may have put my email (which is my apple ID) into some database-- or, it could have been that dialogue box which opened up for each app on a fresh install of iWork that could have triggered a qualified update in the Mac Store.

Hope this goes well for some of you!

That being said, I did a clean install of iLife 11 and did not get the same results. My iPhoto icon has the 'closed' overlay icon on it and when I launch it, it says it needs an update. So when I click on 'update' it takes me to the App store's Update window and shows no updates available.

But I DID skip the registration on the clean install. I'll go back and try to clean install it again and this time REGISTER.
