Went with the Space Gray. I don't love it, but I wanted a change and I do like it slightly better than the Silver. Got to say Silver is surprisingly "durable" though. Even after all these years I'm not bored of it yet.

Still don't know why these companies (HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc) all keep coming out with new shell designs every year. Why don't they perfect a design, and go from there? Make the brand known for something. Good trackpads, good screens, good laptop shell, a design that's familiar and progresses rather than reinventing the design every year & looking like soon-to-be garbage repackaged over & over.

The machine pictured is an HP Elitebook 740/745/840, and externally it's basically the same today as it was 3 years ago. Their Zbook 14 is also the same chassis, but with a darker brushed aluminum finish. I don't expect next year's model (the G4) to look any different.

Space Grey or Silver??? D: Wanted to go with Space Grey initially and after reading all the comments about scratches... feel like getting silver now...

I made this comparison pic. I ended up going with the silver. I just seemed like a lot safer bet as it doesn't show scratches or smudges as bad and the color is so neutral that it can't look bad.

I went with the Space Grey MacBook Pro without the touch bar. I went with the space grey in part because my iPhone, iPad Pro9.7, iPad mini, and Apple Watch were all Space Grey. Aside from that it was a nice change from the silver that has been on the Macs for years.

Edit- 11-29-16. After 10 days with the non-touchbar version I returned it to get one with the touchbar. That was 10 days ago and I couldn't be happier with that decision. The new one is also Space Gray and it has the 512gb drive rather than the 256gb.

"It’s worth mentioning that the anodized color on the original Space Gray 12-inch MacBook had a tendency to wear with usage, which reveals the natural silver aluminum color that resides underneath. If you tend to be hard on your gear, and such a phenomenon concerns you, then it might be best to stick to the silver model, although it’s possible that Apple could have remedied this issue by now."

Space Grey looks much sexier

I have mixed feelings. With the lid closed the space grey looks sexier indeed, but when open it looks like a boring work tool whereas the silver version looks like top of the line design. I can see people being bored with it though but I've never owned a silver macbook, my last apple laptop was the whitebook from 2008! :)

Those are computer generated images, neither really represents the IRL truth.

Seems like you've been a windows user since then? I can see why you really do not want anything that looks like a windows laptop. Personally, for me I love the darker colors and with the screen on it just pops to me. And the new keyboard over the space grey looks very slick. I've had a silver mbp since 2010 and really dont mind silver but I knew i would regret not going for the space grey

Nope been a mac mini user, havent owned a PC since 2007. I like the ergonomics of the darker laptop, you dont get that shine in your face. It really is a tough call but i just went ahead with my gut feeling.

At the end of the day you really cant go wrong. Its a brand new macbook pro, we'll all be happy either way with one

Saw them in person today, i think the silver is actually nicer now. Space grey doesnt look as nice in person. May end up changing my order tbh

I had "12 rMB in space grey, I was a little over it so happy with the silver "13, saw a "15 space gray at the store, def. glad I went silver.

Actually nvm lol, changing the color would make my mbp deliver like an extra 2 weeks later so i think im gonna stick with space grey

What do you guys think would you go for ? the Space Gray Colour or the Silver rMBP ? which looks chic ? I am confused !! I have got suggestions Space Gray Looks elegant but I feel Silver looks more classy and timeless even 5 years down the line it won't look bad. Don't know so much about Space Gray. What do you guys suggest ?

After seeing the Space Grey MBP at the Apple Store, I cancelled my order and went with the silver instead. I agree what the others have said. Silver is classic Apple...the SG reminds me too much of Dell/HP laptops. To me, SG is cheaper looking, it just doesn't scream Apple. Now I have to wait another month before my 15" MBP arrives:(.

Few things I'm considering myself:

- I like the darker MacBook 12" in the stores, but I'm worried it's more because it's different and that I'd get bored with it after a while.
- After using a silver MacBook Air for years, I think that's the safer and more timeless color. I'll be using the new one for many years to come as well, and don't want to take the risk, especially with this new price point.
- I prefer the contrast between the black bezels / keyboard and the lighter casing on the MBP.
- Silver matches many of my silver gadgets, like the Magic Keyboard and (older, all silver) trackpad.
- I read in some reviews that the Space Gray version picks up smudges way more easily.
- I never worry about scratching the MBA, since they won't show as much (not sure how much of an issue that is with the Space Gray though).

I had a space gray 12" MacBook that I really enjoyed. It was a bit too small for my needs. I bought a 13" MacBook Pro Space Gray with touch bar. I recently returned it to go ahead a get the 13" with Touch Bar in the space gray. I really do like that color. It also complements my Sonos and iPad Pro. anyways, when the new 13" MacBook arrived it was damaged during the shipment. I took it back to Best Buy but they didn't have any. I went over to Apple and the actually had a silver 15" 2.7 GHz. I really wanted the space gray 13" but after seeing them next to the silver I realized just how dirty they looked compared to the silver. So, I went with the only 15" they had which happened to be silver.
