Went with Silver for the 13". Returned to get the 15". Got the 15" in silver but for some reason it did not look good at all in the 15". It just seemed too "vast." The space gray on 15" makes it look a bit more svelte if that makes sense.
Also getting the space grey for the same reason The wide space between the screen and the touchbar in silver feels a bit awkward in design

I am currently using the Space Grey 15in model I love the color but I don't think it will wear well with possible scratches and dents. I will be returning the space grey for sliver tomorrow. It was fun to have and use the Space grey for a few days.

I guess I don't really see the vast space on my silver 15" from TB to screen. I do, mostly, use in a darker than average room.

I'm still undecided on what colour to go for. Why does Apple make it so difficult to choose between them haha?! Currently leaning towards the Silver to match my iMac, and because the colour of the Space Grey model seems to change quite a lot depending on the lighting.

Take it easy and enjoy the choices available. There is no right answer here and both options look great for different reasons. IMHO, silver is a classic look for Apple products and possibly the harder wearing colour but gray is the more attractive and befitting colour for the new chassis of the TBMBP - to me it screams high end understated tech. I have the gray and I'm very happy with it. It really doesn't change shade as much as you think and it's not the fingerprint magnet people made it out to be either. Time will tell regarding its resilience to scratches etc.

Go with whatever your gut tells you. Sounds like silver is for you.

My opinion is that the grey is more suitable for the harsh extreme light in the apple store where the silver one almost blinds you. However thats not realistic lighting, I use my computer in half dim lighting at home. There the silver looks great where the grey would look too dark imo.

But if you are planning on using your computer outside in the sun a lot or in a very brightly lit environment the SG might be more ergonomic.

I spend most of my time in a quite poorly lit office, so I guess that's another point for the Silver model. The only thing that bothers me is the Apple logo; I've never really been much of a fan of chrome, and that's what you get with the Silver. At least with the Space Grey model the logo is darker. I know it's only a small detail, but I want everything to be perfect when I'm spending this much on a computer haha. Do you think you'd be able to use the provided Apple stickers to cover it? :p

So I bought a 13" tb Space Grey at launch [obviously unseen in real life] and also a silver non touch bar.
Sent the non touch bar back as it was too slow for me and the silver felt boring - same old thing I thought.

The space grey arrived and I have decided to return it. I just cannot get used to the colour changes and how it looks purple in some light. I agree with others on here that it can look amazing in certain light situations, but daylight it looks bad.

So it is going back and I will get a silver tb 13" instead. A bit boring but at the same time, goes with everything, is classic and has that matte feel together with being more durable.

I am unsure why Apple is promoting the Space Grey so hard, but I won't be getting a computer in that finish again.

Space Grey is like a beautiful girl seen from the front looks amazing and you fall for her, but when she turns to the side, you are not so sure, and you leave a little disapointed :)

I got a BTO space gray, I'm thinking of returning it and getting the silver for two reasons 1. The color looks the same as the color of my XPS 13 so silver would be something different. And 2. I am also worried how the SG will hold up over time. Good thing it was delivered during the holiday return period so I have until Jan 8th to decide. I guess I can go check out the silver in a store before I decide.

Most of the time you wont even see the logo lol. Its really not that big of an issue

this may sound weird, but I like and don't at all regret SG on my 12" rMB and if I could do it all over again, I would do the same.. it has a bit of a worn here and there look to parts of it that I'm ok with. Including the only port looking EXTRA worn on the inside which I like, since I've inserted and removed that cable 10 million times since getting it in spring 2015

but if I got a late 2016 rMBP onward, it'd almost have to be silver (and I like that my late 2013 rMBP is silver of course), 100% varying degrees of wornness to some ports more than others, considering they're all the same shape and port type, no bueno/no go. I couldn't cope. Plus looks clean

I think it is silver 13" space grey 15" [due to the vastness of aluminium on show]. I have always struggled with my current 15" on appearance and in store the SG looks way better. But as said before, don't be fooled by the Apple store lighting, it does not provide the reality of how the SG changes colour, or how flat the silver appears in most situations.

With all the silver macbookpro's I have had, none have really shown the wear, even the macbook which had some dings on the side. You had to touch it to feel them as you didn't see them - I could imagine space grey looking quite poor then.

Just got back from the Apple Store after returning my 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar (Silver) 2.7 GHz 512 GB. That machine was showing graphic issues. Apple tech confirmed she saw the issue. I thought long and hard and decided to get the base 13" MacBook with TB in Space Grey. When I go there they had just sold the last one of the model. What the did have was the maxed out 13" MacBook Pro with TB minus the 1TB SSD. I thought he said it was in Space Gray since that's what he was looking for. SO when this MacBook came out I was surprised it was SILVER. It looks beautiful LOL it does have that certain "classy" look people have mentioned in this thread. I know why not replace with another 15"? WELL, I recently sold my 2012 15" rMBP that gave me graphics issues from day one. Yes, Apple replaced each time but AppleCare ran out after 3 years, so it was time to move on...

Wait so did you replace your 15 inch with another 15 inch? And what kind of graphic issues was there?

maxed out 13" well minus the 1TB SSD drive.

The 15" was making the wallpaper look like a negative, when logging in the display would flicker to white, occasionally when swiping from desktop to desktop it would either scramble or keep part of the other desktop over the new desktop. It progressed over the week of owning it. it was the 2.7 455 GPU
Like I stated above I dealt with these same issues on my 2012 15" so, I decided to just go with the 13" iGPU.

Most computers on the planet are silver so I went different and snagged Space Gray.. Looks fantastic and glad I went with it over the standard silver color...

I suspect half the Genius Bar is going to be 50% people wanting their Space Gray dings fixed by March, if it's like Razer's coating...

^^ Agree. I have a friend with a 2015 rMB that she bought day one. It's Space Gray and looks brand new almost 2-years later...

My space gray model came scratched right out of the box inside right below the speaker. It's a beautiful machine. but I'd buy silver.

Fashion of the moment, Beige plastic, Black plastic, Titanium (purple, black, silver), white plastic, aluminum.

Now that all the other makers has copied the aluminum cases ("Looks like a Mac"), Apple has been anodizing the cases to differentiate. Now if they would do a rich maroon or iridescent navy blue.....

I'd like Apple to copy Dell's carbon fibre interiors. Yes you need to wipe it more often (much like Space Gray - hand oils are more obvious) but it's so much kinder on the wrists than bare metal. It feels luxurious typing on my partner's XPS vs my MBP.
