Not surprised. It doesn't look like a traditional Star Wars movie, but I like that uniqueness. I bet the execs want to play it safe though.

Prior and right after Star Wars 7, I thought Kylo Ren could surpass Darth Vader as the greatest villain ever. Nah. Not after he unmasked himself, killed his papa, and got owned by Rey. Kylo Ren is to appeal to boys to sell toys and costumes.

Agreed, I thought it was bad to have Kylo Ren look so weak against Rey.

They probably thought people would understand that it was because he was severely weakened from Chewie's bowcaster, after all they spent a significant amount of time showing how powerful the weapon is supposed to be. It fell a bit flat and I definitely would have preferred to see more of Chewbacca going berserk instead of what we saw.

But I enjoyed the movie enough that I accept this weaker thread :)

The girl who discovered the force within her and became an overnight Jedi master through force osmosis, that Rey? Or was it because Ren failed Light Saber Fighting 101? :D One of the excessively failed elements of the story. :(

To me, I thought Kylo Ren had more of an anger problem with his lightsaber and never seemed in control, not the way Vader was. Ren was a decent villain, but fell short for me and never appeared that menacing. Vader always had that directive approach I liked.

other than the shots of blood, constantly hitting/gripping his side, limping, and just looking completely hurt?
That's thing, I just didn't buy him hitting himself in the wound. If the bowcaster was literally blowing people off their feet and he got a glancing/side blow I think he should been shown a bit more hobbled. Perhaps its how he emoted the injury, or how he carried himself, but I just didn't get a sense he was dealing with a serious injury.

trailer of the new movie looks good
but the previous one looked fine, but the movie turned out average. Delight was not

I gotcha - it probably didn't help that the scene after, the snow fight, was mostly in darkness. I imagine if they had fought somewhere with a bit more lighting, his injuries could've been expressed/shown a bit more clearly.

Agreed, I think they could have done better to show how hurt he was.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this. I hope it lives up to my expectations.

I'll be there on opening night. Looks good as others have said. Just hope all the automatic doors are working properly!
Last December, I took the day off and pulled my kids out of school to see the movie. I think I may at the very least take the day off :)

Meh... though I do like Jyn a bit more that we know her background. Funny, I loved the original footage shown last year but as this gets closer to release I've lost most of my excitement for it (Ditto for Doctor Strange and I'm a fan of both properties). Don't know yet...but perhaps something will change my mind at the 11th hour.

I LIKE the new trailer. I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Star Wars VII lived up to my expectations at first. I loved seeing it at the cinema. But for me, it doesn't do so well when watched again. The similarities with New Hope began to grate. Watching it again with my kids over the summer just reinforce this view.

In a way, I have more hope for Rogue One than Episode VIII at the moment. At least it can't be a repeat.

Looking even better now. Just signed up for ticket availability notifications on Fandango.
