Perhaps a major update to the iBook or PBook lines. May be a supa dupa dual dual PMac. I think we will see a totally new product of the gizmo verity.

Oh yes, and he had better introduce an ADSL connection to the Airport or else I will give more idle threats.
:D

The future for the Powerbook is in Freescale's MPC8641 e600 single and dual core processors.

This is Motorola's... sorry Freescale's... "G5" class chip.... might not be as fast as a true G5, but I'll take Dual DDR2, a 667mHz Bus, PCI Express, and two speedy cores at 1.6-1.8 Ghz anyday. This thing has been around for a year or so... its got to be the future. If nothing... lets move to the MPC7448, which is pin for pin compatible with current G4s... and it has a 200mHz bus, using the same e600 core.

Mark my words... no more Powerbook G4... just Powerbook, and one hell of alot of power indeed. Bring it on. My 1Ghz Titanium is fast approaching time for replacing (though, Tiger, WOW, did that help)

This is the best thing i've read about the powerbooks in a long time. Sounds realistic and its very doable.

That'd be one sweet machine!

Of course there is hope for new G5 Powerbooks, but i think that is still a bit off. We're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but i have a feeling that the G5 Powerbook, if ready, would debut in Paris with the dual core Power Macs (my theory on dual-core PM debut), and the focus would be putting POWER back into hardware...it's very possible :) .

I am interested to see what will actually be unveiled at WWDC however, not what people speculate will be unveiled.

I just don't understand how anyone can expect a PB update. The last cycle was 10 month and this one will be the same. That means new PBs at MWSF06.

And I hope for the new Freescale CPUs as well. Most important is to get a faster FSB. It is the main bottleneck in the current line.

Cheers

Let's hope that apple comes with resonable priced dual core chips.....proberly wont...will cost like 1000 bucks for a single chip

Well Dual single core seems to be better than a single dual core  or

I call your dual-core G4, and raise you a Yonah

O.K. My understanding is that he is correct. The Pentium-M is awesome processor with a really fast bus speed. Only the dual core G4 can counter it.
Dual-core Pentium M chips have been shown, and are expected by the end of the year. The codename is "Yonah" (the guy who ate the whale)..

Note that the dual-core Yonah is an integrated design, two cores on one piece of silicon, sharing a 2 MiB L2 cache and a 667 MHz FSB. It is also anticipated that it will use less power than the current Pentium M chips....

Intel Demos Dual-Core Pentium M Notebook

Intel's Yonah could run at 2,5 GHz

NEW iMac's :D
2 Ghz G5's
9600 128B VRAM Graphics
512MB RAM standard
160GB HDD

And eMac's as well

I honestly hope they're going to come out with the PowerBook G5.

I'm dissappointed, not because I wanted one or needed one, but because Apple was supposed to be ahead of the Windows world. They've certainly achieved this in the software area, but the hardware area is another story (i.e. the 3.0 Ghz marker was supposed to have been crossed last June).

It's going to be the two-year anniversary of the unveiling of the PowerMac G5. Let's hope they release something that will put us out on top again...after all, the iBooks are just one upgrade away from catching up with the PowerBooks.

Same here, but I think if it DOES come out, it won't JUST be a regular powerbook. I am betting, thanks to Inkwell and Screen Rotation, it will be a G5 PowerTablet. Just like a tablet PC, only not as Clunky. Maybe a BT Keyboard that attaches and a pop out stand for using it in regular PB mode. If not a G5 Tablet, maybe a G4 Tablet or a Dual Core G4 tablet.

After today's update on iMac and eMac, I think the only updates we're likely to see are Powerbooks, iBooks and Xserver. I don't really think we're gonna see the dual core G5 machines or any new lines of Macintosh on that event..

Well, nevertheless, I'd be very glad if Apple come up with Powerbook G5. Let's keep our fingers crossed :p

OK so what the heck is left to release at WWDC now that the iMac, PowerMac, eMac, and OS are all updated? Is Steve going to play a game of chess against Bill on stage? Or better yet....

*Steve walks on stage*
*Crickets chirp*

"Ummm we've already debuted all of our new wares a few weeks ago. So instead of my usually speech I thought we would try something new"

*All of Apple's upper execs walk onto stage and they breaks out into a chorus of Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore*

:D

OT, in case you are interested

OT: After these comments Bill Gtaes was rushed to a hospital

In a delusional phase , Doctors said, Mr Gates arrived at the hospital with an apparent schizophrenia disorder.

He was hearing voices and was falling appart from all reality

Mr Gates is now sedated and even thou he still claims absurd things and paraphrases stupidities, he might , some day come back to a decent human and mind state.

For now , he is total delusional and mad at everyone that contradictes him and explains to him that Microsoft can't not copy from other operating systems as fast as they should.

It is a shame, said some Microcock followers that this man, once a great thief, is at this moment in this shocking and sad state.

Not one to start rumors and I have NOTHING to back this up but I think we will see a BIG update on powerbooks at this event. I may be wrong but I think we can say goodbye to G4 in a powerbook.

There really is nothing left for Steve to be there for. It would be a waist of everyones time if all he did was recaped us on what they did over the past month.

Just becuase he is giving the keynote it doesnt mean he HAS to intoduce a new product.

Maybe it will just be a speech??

exactly why I think we are going to see PowerBook updates and iBook updates at WWDC. they have to do something to the Power-line for developers at WWDC, why not throw in an e600 or G5?

Apple has been waiting an abnormally long time to update the ibooks, because they simply cannot update them for they would be too similar to the powerbooks. i think we're gonna see new powerbooks because 1) it will have been a good amount of time (over 100 days) since the last update (it's not that much time, but enough especially if we see a new generation which we will) and 2) the ibooks are destined to be upgraded soon, and they will probably be updated at the same time as the powerbooks so that pbook sales aren't killed by the cheaper and almost equivalently-spec'd ibook.

then again, this is pure optmism :). i just want my powerbook

I'm somewhat scared that they will update the PowerBook. I'm going to be at work and cleaning up the mess and changing my pants while mousing to apple.com isn't going to be nearly as easy as doing it from home.

HEHE. Not a chance. Even if its to introduce iSocks 2.0 something will be introduced.

A Stevenote is never just a speech. He will recap all that Apple has done recently. Probably president from software company with a new update.

Yeah I can see an hour of Tiger. 5 mins at least on iTMS and iPod stats (shuffle baby). Then 5-10 mins on the Mac Mini, new iMac, mubbles about PM...and the new hardware ;)

I seriously wonder if they will put out a new Mac Mini with a 64 graphics card to handle Tiger, plus like the rumors are saying 256MB on the board allowing for cheaper memory upgrades to 3/4 of a gig. Plus extra audio/video in and out to complete the deal.

accessories?

So most of the macs (and almost all of the iPods) have been updated recently... What else is there? I suppose power/ibooks bumps (I don't expect major updates there...). The whole apple software line has been updated recently (Tiger, iLife '05, iWork, all the pro media apps, even .mac). Displays tend to have a longer life than computers, and although apple cut the prices recently, I don't think anyone is expecting a new lineup or new features...

So what about apple accessories?

JamBox has been mentioned, sounds like a good chance of that. I remember hearing rumblings about iSight 2 a while back. It would be a good time to release it now that Tiger is out with iChat 3 (didn't the first iSight premiere a bit before or after panther was released?).

The airport express has been out a while, but I can't think of anything useful they could add to it, other than some sort of remote functionality. Maybe someday they'll sell an airport-express-extreme with display, or a video out to display track info, but probably not this summer....

What other apple accessories are there? Oh yes! The mouse! Could this finally be "the year of the 2 button mouse?" (yes, windows users, that is a joke). Tiger has added a huge amount of functionality to the right-click menu (thanks to automator). Apple has been doing a lot lately to remove the typical excuses of reluctant switchers, so it's not unthinkable.

If Apple chooses to have a 'non-mac' Macworld, this could be a great lineup. The opportunity for upselling add-ons to Tiger customers shouldn't be ignored....
