Hi
Can anyone tell me how to access 'PrivateFrameworks'? It doesnt seem to be in my Library. Thanks
I couldn't find mine either but did eventually

and Safari now loading again :)

Try going to the Go menu and copy:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice

Hello djhype,
How did you delete it? 3 folders popped up for me when I found MobileDevice. TIA!
[doublepost=1544891653][/doublepost]

I found it in the Magnifying Glass...I hope that's the way others found it. I'm not tech savvy. Now I'm waiting to hear back about how and what I delete...
OMG...I am realizing how ridiculously un-tech-y I am!!! What pray tell is the Magnifying Glass and where do I find it?!!

drag it to trash then empty trash
Thank you but, I have no idea how to even find the file...I’m sorry but I’m new to this kind of stuff...
[doublepost=1544892437][/doublepost]
Did you delete the entire "A" file, or just the MobileDevice that was in it? TY!

Upper right hand corner of the toolbar
Thank you so much!!!!

Just MobileDevice file. I recommend to move it to another place or rename.

got the magnifying glass and put in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice which gets no file, then searched for "versions" in a finder window and got nada. Help please!

I apologize in advance but I am not at all computer-y...how do I delete the file that was suggested...thank you!
Looks like your question was already answered, but this might be of help to others.

I’m surprised people are sticking to Yosemite. It was not a good macOS release. Stock apps like Mail were hugely problematic and crashing for me. It’s not until El Capitan that I enjoyed using my Mac again.
Yes, loved El Cap:)

Reinstalling the OsX is not necessary!!
I had the same problem with Safari yesterday... After 2 hours of finding solution (safe boot, combo update etc.) I've just completely deleted the file "MobileDevice". The path to this file is in Safari's error message: "Referenced from: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice"

After deleting this file (on your own risk) Safari successfully opened with the last session, all bookmarks etc.

Thanks for that - saved a huge amount of time trying to restore from backup.

oooo! gotit. Used GO and renamed. Safari is back. Thanks everybody

How do we install this if we don’t have browsing capability? I tried to go to the App Store and see if I could download Firefox so I could download this, but Firefox does not come up. I am not very computer savvy and now have no internet capability because of this update. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

If you don’t have another browser, you could use another computer to download the installer and transfer it using a usb stick for example.

If you don’t have another computer, another way is to use terminal with this command:

Code:
curl -O http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/49/15/091-22830/wb37hl4mbck89pw6j4t386ym6q8d5p1g5m/Safari10.1.2Yosemite.pkg

Note however that this will download the file to your home directory, not the Downloads folder.

Apple blocks older machines from newer macOS versions. People with older machines have no choice.

I have OS X Yosemite on my 2012 MacBook Air. Should I download a newer version of something to make my computer more compatible with these updates? Or is OS X Yosemite that last version I can have on my computer?

You can download and install macOS Mojave from the appstore. That is the latest macOS available and your MBA 2012 should support it. Please backup all your data before you do so.
Installing a new OS usually doesn't harm your personal data, but better safe then sorry.
You might be using some applications that are no longer supported from the latest macOS, but usually you can fix that by updating those.
Otherwise you could also install macOS 10.11 (El Capitan), 10.12 (Sierra) or 10.13 (High Sierra).
Though it might be a little bit more complicated to get your hands on an installer for those.

Apple this week released iTunes 12.8.1 for OS X Yosemite up to macOS High Sierra. The minor update resolves an issue that prevented iTunes from streaming media to third-party AirPlay speakers, and contains other minor improvements.

However, anyone running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 specifically should avoid updating to iTunes 12.8.1 for now, as users across the MacRumors Forums, Twitter, Reddit, and Stack Exchange report that the update somehow breaks Safari 10.1.2, the latest version of the browser for OS X Yosemite.

After updating to iTunes 12.8.1, some users have encountered the following error message when opening Safari on OS X Yosemite:One user on Stack Exchange believes that the iTunes 12.8.1 update may update /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework to a version incompatible with Safari 10.1.2, but the cause is not entirely clear. We've flagged the issue with Apple and asked if and when a fix will be available.

In the meantime, workarounds include using an alternative browser such as Firefox or upgrading to a newer macOS version -- of course, those still using OS X Yosemite likely don't want to or can't upgrade. Updating to iTunes 12.9 is not possible on OS X Yosemite, as that version is only compatible with macOS Mojave.

We'll update this article when a fix is available.

I tried this and it worked for me. Have you seen any side effects of this? Thank for the help!
I have no folder as PrivateFrame . Please help me with it. I have tried everything ,but it doesnot worm

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Apple only supports the current and -1 release of means Mojave and High Sierra.

Apple supports the three most recent versions of its OS, not two.

Which is, incidentally, why all my computers are now running High Sierra. We were on El Capitan (which was solid and reliable), but that stopped getting security patches once Mojave was released.

Would you be willing to do a step by step instruction guide for how you did this? Im excellent at following directions, but terrible at anything beyond the basic use of a Macbook. If so, thank you in advance!!!
[doublepost=1544899068][/doublepost]Yes, please. I would love instructions on how to do this.

I found it and moved the file to trash and Safari still won’t load...what did I do wrong?! Thanks!
I'm sorry, but I don't know; I'm running an older version of Mac OS and don't encounter this error myself.

Perhaps @Scerby, who originally found this fix, has some ideas.

What on EARTH is Federighi getting paid for? Ever since Bertrand Serle and Scott Forstal left Apple, and Craig took over, Apple software has been plagued with one bug or critical software flaw after another.
That’s what happens when you fire your two bug fixers: Scott Forstal and Bertrand Serle. And Federgghi thinks sitting down and fixing bugs while sipping coffee is below his pay grade. These execs, I tell ya.
