You mad? :D
Should have waited for the "real" iPhone upgrade.

Justifying that a phone can stand on it's side as a feature is reaching.

Mad? Who's mad? Why would you assume I was mad? I have the phone I like and I was commenting on my opinion of a popular mock-up image that is obviously fake. This already made the rounds on the Internet last Fall. I don't have anything to be mad about.

And I like the design and shape of the iPhone 4/4S. Sue me. I gave my opinion on whether I prefer an angled or tapered back. I prefer angled. If you don't, fine. But if you think you're going to tell me what I'm allowed to like, you're delusional.

the next thing i'm looking forward to is iOS 6. maybe introduced at WWDC in june?

really? do we have to read this in every thread? its getting boring.
Yes really.
Why shouldn't they?

You are arguing that because the model name obviously does not correspond to the generation counter, the next generation is unlikely to be called iPhone 5?

Apple will probably go all "the new iPhone" on us, so you can have your precious iPhone (6G). If not, big deal.
Well let's see. The iPhone 4 was named such because it was the fourth generation. The 5th generation is the 4S. I highly doubt that Apple would name the 6th generation the iPhone 5. I do agree that it will just be "The New iPhone".

Wonder if the new iPhone will be resolutionary?!

Hope it has seams so some of u guys can complain about it then buy it and love it.

If apple sell a brick I'm still buying it!

To be honest it does read as aggression/anger.

That is YOUR opinion. Where has Apple ever said that the iPhone 4 was the 4th generation? Many believe it was the 4th phone but categorize it as the 3rd generation (by form factor) and the next phone will be the 6th phone but the 4th generation. That it was called the iPhone 4 because the previous phones were iPhone 3X.

Personally I think they are going to drop the number altogether and go like the did the iPad route. Unless they come to their senses and realize how confusing that has become and will become with each release.

I don't need a bigger screen, I need better battery life! An iPhone that lasts as long as an iPad on a single charge would destroy the competition. There's nothing wrong with the size of the iPhone. Just shrink everything else, and fill it back with a battery. Sounds familiar right?

Yawn, we go through this every year or so. I think there must be an entire industry devoted to rendering rectangular shapes with iphone screenshots glued on the front.

Until Tim Cook pulls one out of his pocket I'm not believing any images that show up.

I'd like to quote Steve Jobs:

"And so today... today... we are introducing... iPhone 4. The fourth generation iPhone."

It might be just me, but he kinda said that the iPhone 4 was the fourth generation iPhone.

I personally don't see a problem with dropping to a 264 dpi or the same dpi as the new iPad. This could mean a new iPhone that is 4.32" which would be very nice for those of us who actually like larger phones. I currently have a Droid phone just so I can have a larger screen but everything else I have is Apple.

This would work out well for a couple of reasons.

1. Same LED panel sheets just chopped up smaller. Could save them some money and manufacturing time. They would only need to manufacture one type of LED panel sheet.
2. Same dpi across all new Apple products. This may help for buttons size development in making universal apps.
3. I typically have seen somewhere between 4" and 4.5" to be the sweet spot with Droid phones. Any larger and they seem to put people off. Any smaller and the same seems to happen. I think a lot of Droid users like myself would switch to iPhones if they fell within that size.

At the end of the day it is very hard to tell the difference between 326 dpi and 264 dpi on a screen that small. Psychologically the bigger screen would look better anyway to most people. Perhaps for awhile Apple could offer both sizes but it would be nice to use a single dpi LED panel sheet.

Personally this would be the only way Apple could drag me off the iPod Touch is if the iPhone comes with a bigger screen...

though not doing the same screen update on the iPod Touch has some negative consequences with the Samsung Galaxy Player being a pretty good seller at the moment.

That's more like it.

The photo shows almost exactly what I'm hoping for in the "new iPhone" hardware:

- Metal back enclosure
- Narrower bezel
- Possible minor increase in screen size
- Possible minor decrease in thickness

Things I want that probably aren't going to happen:
- MagSafe dock connector
- LiquidMetal back enclosure
- Inductive charging (yeah, right)

I'd put the screen size over/under at 4.0" with little or no overall enclosure size increase.
And I'd take the under. (If I were to bet on it.)
