A person who has "Think objectively" in his signature doesn't understand why a business would put more effort on a product that generates a far higher revenue and margin than another?

I would love to see Tim Cook pull the old "one more thing" trick at WWDC and bring out the new iPhone. I think it would be funny and grab lots of attention if no one was expecting a new iPhone announcement and Apple surprises everyone. :)

Do I think it will happen? No, but I would enjoy it if it did. :D

Tim Cook couldn't pull a rabbit out of a hat much less pull off one of Steve's trademark "one more things!!" He didn't even really introduce the iPhone 4S, one of his subordinates did!!

I hate his delivery style. I hate his accent/drawl. He's just one overall uncharismatic dude.

The next product with a new form factor should be introduced by Jony.

Im happy with the size of the screen now, why do our tablets need to be phone and our phones need to be tablets!?

The 3.5" was perfect back in 2007 when it first was introduced, and when we only did a little web surfing and basic game-playing. But that size is wholeheartedly insufficient today with all the " stuff" that we can do on a phone!!!

Android has nailed it by upsizing screen size and for the first time set a trend that Apple will have to follow instead of the other way around. Have you noticed -- NO MANUFACTURERS are releasing sub 4" devices! That should tell you something!

I know apple is going and will be going where the money is. That doesnt take away from the fact that theyve slowly been abandoning their pro user base. People that do more than just send pictures to gramma and grandpa.

Don't sugarcoat it! Tell us how you really feel! :)

Love it...

Where did you buy that case? I want one!

Yeah man, all those things make the iPhone so much worse, nobody should buy one because tim cook has an accent.

4 inches would be just right. I can't fit the Samsung in my pocket comfortably, even though the large screen is nice.

Funny watching the change in phones. From big clunkers to phones that you could literally wear they were so small. Now the trend is getting bigger and bigger again. Eventually you will need a briefcase to carry them again, just like it was in the 80's.

Whenever MacRumors mentions an analyst, they should mention how many "predictions" they made last year, and how many of those were wrong.

I'm sure this "great" analyst spent the entirety of his trip to China drinking cheap imported sake at Hong Kong's red district, knowing he could say whatever and people would buy it.

I wonder if they'll design something that doesn't require a case. I saw a post on twitter from someone who got to meet Jony Ive and said Ive hates iPhone cases with a passion. Yes most cases out there are quite ugly but there's no way I'd go naked.

Maybe he should design a phone that doesn't need a case then. I think most of the iphones have been gorgeous but complete failures when it comes to their inability to escaped unscathed from a drop.

Normally they do quote how accurate the particular source has been over time. This may be the first report concerning apple products from this source.

If it's redesigned like the picture, I'm not buying. I really don't need a larger screen, but what I don't like is the shape. I really prefer the flat back to a tapered back. My iPhone 4S will easily stand on any of it's sides, and I stand it up all the time. It also stays put better when it's lying down.

Also I think the aluminim back is a lot uglier than the glass. This looks like a step back.

UPDATE: To anyone who thinks I was expressing anger in this post, I wasn't. I simply prefer the old design. Big deal. This isn't an actual design anyway, so it's a moot point. I was merely expressing my opinion of the curved back design that we see here and we see on the iPhone 3G. I like a flat back. People read into things. They see what they want to see.

I disagree with your reasons for not buying it, but I wouldn't buy it either. I've said it before and I'll say it again - that mockup is wrong. The top part with the speaker doesn't match up with the bottom part with the home button at all. It is way too thin and Apple would never have something so asymmetrical.

The new iPhone needs to have at least a 4.3 inch screen or fear being left behind. Almost all Android phones have 4.3 inch screens and are the new ones are now moving to 4.7. Screen size is the main reason I switched from my iPhone 3G to the HTC Evo 4G and now the HTC Evo 3D. Recently my mom got an iPhone 4S for work which i helped set up for her and wow trying to go back to the 3.5 inch screen is very hard and while I do miss the great apps the screen makes it impossible.

This might be used for the back!

That mockup looks more like an iPod touch than an iPhone.

If Apple can find a way to make the iPhone out of aluminum again without sacrificing signal quality then I'm all for it.

I don't know about going bigger, I suppose that would give them more room to pack in a battery for the LTE chip. But the iPhone is about perfect in a 3.5" form. Lowering ppi to increase resolution seems like a bad idea.

Maybe it is time for a new screen resolution on the iPhone.

1024 X 768 at 4 inches is 320 ppi

other former Liquidmetal Technology executives have speculated that Apple will be building their next iPhone out of the alloy.
"I think theyre going to make the iPhone out of it," said Dr. Jan Schroers, the former director of research at Liquidmetal Technologies, the first company to commercially develop the space-age technology. "It's quite obvious from what Liquidmetal has done in the past and what the technology is capable of."

I will be ok with an increased screen size as long as the frame stays the same size. I did the enormous screen PDA phone thing seven years ago and I will never go back.

I know I know

...the iPhone is awesome. Revolutionary. Ok, but I really wish Apple would put a little focus on their professional line of computers, for the professionals rely on them. I'm sure the new design of the iPhone will be svelt and sexy, but where's the new Mac Pro??? Are they refreshing it? If not, where's the new iMac? Inquiring minds want to know!

The iPod touch has a really sleek design. An iPhone shaped like an iPod touch would be amazing.

----------

Thank you!! Looks exactly like that. The Androidization of Apple. Why not! If you can't beat 'em might as well join 'em...or copy 'em!

No, it looks like the iPod touch, which Apple released in 2007.

----------

If it doesn't have LTE Advanced, it is not 4G.

Nope, it is still 4G. According to the accepted standards, the iPhone's current HSMA+ is already 4G.

----------

Why do people still assume the 6th generation iPhone is the iPhone 5? The 4S is the 5th iPhone.

I know! Maybe they want Apple to not count the "S" models because they are really just little upgrades for people two models behind to buy (the people whose 2-year contracts just expired).

Apple counted the 3GS in the iPhone 4 being the 4th model. Calling the next iPhone the iPhone 5 would break their older naming process. Still, it seems weird to go by even numbers (4, 4S, 6, 6S, 8, 8S).

----------

Please can we can not call it iPhone 5 anymore!

Its iPhone (6th Gen)
or
iPhone (4th Form factor)
or
new iPhone (with 4G)

You forgot "iPhone LTE" and "iPhone 4G".

Also, think about it. There would be no odd-numbered iPhone models if they did what you suggest, which would be strange. I'd rather just go with the iPhone 5 not meaning the "5th iPhone" but "version 5" (where the 4S is "version 4.5").

----------

BTW, his is how HTC One X and many other phones look like. There is nothing special about this look and I do no think there must be. It's just if iPhone 5 looks the same as iPhone 4 you can always go with Android phone of the look you like (there plenty to choose from).

I think a lot of people wanted to see an iPhone in the body of an iPod touch. The iPod touch has a really great design. Oh, and to those people claiming that Apple is "turning into Microsoft/Android", they are drawing from their own iPod touch design.

Plain LTE is 3G. Nobody has Advanced yet.

And the standard was revised due to petitioning by the carriers to include anything basically 3.5G and up. LTE was 3.9G before the change. It's all 4G now according to the standard.

4 inches: unacceptable. I wouldn't care how it was redesigned!! That amounts to nothing more than yet ANOTHER incremental upgrade. I'm sick of this shish!!! And I am so tired of hitting a "submit" button by accident before I'm done composing a comment when I was intending to press or do something else all because of this microscopic screen!!!!

I challenge any of you fanboys to walk into a Best Buy or AT&T store where they have working phone demos and take a gander at what Samsung has done with the Galaxy Note and that stunning 5.3" display.

Can you imagine a 5.3" iPhone...with a "retina display?" Let's all just stop and seriously think about that for a minute.

Its a sad sad day, as i completely agree with the above. I've shared the queues with you all
on release day for many years but my patience has finally run out.

I am genuinely disappointed at Apple in relation to the upgrade cycle of iPhone. And after
30+ iPhones since the iPhone 2G in July 2007 i've finally come to the realization that i've
been looking at the same old iPhone 4 design since the 24th of June 2010 and that is long
enough!

Apple used to be fresh, they used to be the best but having looked at some other
smartphones i've watched in the hands of friends over the last 18 months i think they
really have lost their edge. Now its us, 'Apple fans', with the old technology in our hands
as others look on with brand new devices.

I sold my last iPhone today and until Apple start working to my timetable and giving me
what i want and need in a handset, i cant see myself coming back anytime soon. Shame
on you Apple!
