I have had iPhone 3G and ATT since 3G came out. ATT will not allow me to continue my current unlimited data plan if I upgrade, I will be speaking to Verizon. If ATT wont work with a loyal longterm customer maybe Verizon will?

Did ATT tell you that? I just got them to reinstate my unlimited plan after I downgraded last May.

Someone is telling you wrong. If you have unlimited, you are grandfathered in. Ask to speak to a manager or call CS.

I want to stress that Verizon Wireless does NOT extend your contract for changing your plan, your texting package, or anything of the kind. You sign a contract for discounted equipment, a waived activation fee (if you activate a new line of service with equipment you already owned and would rather have free activation than activating without a contract), or for certain perks that are expressly for that contract renewal.

Verizon hasn't required a contract for a rate plan change in several years. Seriously, it's been awhile. Don't spread rumors based on something that was sorta true a long while back.

I was a Verizon customer who waited to see what the Verizon iPhone would be. I grew impatient in June when iPhone 4 came out and when October rolled around, and my contract was fulfilled, I jumped ship to AT&T. That being said I would not choose to jump ship again to the Verizon version. I think I would be frustrated when (hopefully) a new LTE phone came out this June or Next. As it stands, should a new one come out next June, I will only be a few months to the end of my contract. It doesn't matter whether it was Verizon or AT&T. As it stands, I appreciate being able to use data and voice simultaneously. This stems from hardly using Voice but mostly data. I guess we will see if all the claims of the preparedness to handle iPhone will prove true.

I've had AT&T for a long time and have had no problems here in Northern Virginia; San Antonio; St Croix... I'll stick with them. And my experience with customer service has been exceptional.

HOWEVER,
I don't like getting nickeled and dimed -- $15.00 fee for FamilyMap, $15.00 for the minimum iPad data plan - International iPad 3G fees are outrageous. Tethering fee ... Why not give us some other options like a FamilyPlan minute plan but instead of minutes, megabytes. Some months we might use the data on iPad more than the phone or some months we might tether our computers. And let us roll over the unused bandwidth ...

The excuse is the companies have to charge more to keep the bandwidth usage lower. Well, allowing us to reallocate and choose how we use our allotted bandwidth would achieve the same results. BUT ... Instead in reality, they look at every opportunity to gouge us. That's not how you inspire loyalty.

Not sure how much this matters to other people, but I travel internationally quite a bit and like to use my iPhone while I am gone. CDMA coverage is essentially nonexistent on the international level. Verizon's coverage list is rather sparse: http://b2b.vzw.com/international/technology/cdma.html

well, I guess that is close to 100% of iPhone users in Cambridge MA.

ATT really sucks here. There is a gaping hole in coverage about 300yards right around my house. you get at best 1 bar and a dropout every 5 minutes. it plain sucks and this has been like this for at least three years.

Higher phone bill... No talk and data... Not a good choice. Verizon has to create some indenting to over ride those negatives cuss as it stands now it's a raw deal

Sorry, but I like to have a sim card that I can freely switch phones and stuff instead being just stuck with 1 phone.

I am pretty happy with AT&T but I would like to see a side-by-side comparison of browsing the web with an iPhone on Verizon.

I was taking a trip up to NC and my laptop had nice speeds on it on the way up to Winston Salem from Atlanta from my iPhone.

If anything, a lot of people leaving Atnt will help take some stress of the network. Plus it will be nice to be on a call and use data at the same time............. ;)

I think a lot of these people who say they are switching have not taken a look at their early termination fee. I bet once half them see they they will say, it works well enjoy to not spend 600 dollars to switch to verizon. (300 dollar eta plus new phone). Sure they want to switch but are they going to really?

Plus i a REALLY looking forward to the upcoming price/feature war between Atnt and Verizon.

"Survey Claims 26% of AT&T iPhone Customers Planning to Switch to Verizon"

It's probably been said, but

So long, guys! More network left for me!

Clueless..

My droid crapped out on me and it took me a total of 5 minutes to get my spare phone activated with my number until I had the phone replaced the next day.
All without dealing with anyone.

Not a heavy user of doing both at the same time; but there is a reason a keep a mains/car charger handy with me....

And that the point.. You have to keep a charger around where I can go all day without needing to charge.. The whole point of a PORTABLE PHONE is to be portable not plugged it all the time just so you can use Voice and data..

P.S. in stand of just caring a phone you also have to care around a charger.. The last time I checked I was caring a phone around not a laptop....

ATT 3G expansion, not for me, moving to Verizon

ATT doesn't offer 3G in my area. I came across this map in a mobile forum, apparently it originated from the ATT site. This is for 3G expansion through 3/11. Checked out a coworkers phone on Verizon and 3G is fast, he said he's had zero problems and excellent reception, 3G most everywhere he goes. My contract ATT is conveniently up in Feb, I'm gone.

This mirrors what I've hear from others; Verizon 3G is almost everywhere. The more coverage maps are not hype, its really multiples of ATT coverage.

I picked up an iphone for ATT. How good is 3G supposed to be? For instance i don't bother trying to stream video on 3G. I check email and go to a web page but thats about it. When not on wifi, something like netflix or youtube shuts down on me. it stalls out and the app quits.

So I'm just assuming I shouldn't bother doing much except email on 3G. But should I be able to do more?

I have been able to watch movies from Netflix when on 3G.. But it dose not work every where the same way.. Some places in town work find where other places it lags or stops for a little bit then start playing again making hard to watch.. So it a hit and miss when playing movies from Netfilx on 3G..

I dunno, ten-oak-druid. That's a great question.

I wonder how well those apps will perform on the iPhone I'll be buying for my Verizon account........since you're the expert on the existence of such a thing. Any thoughts?
