Why on earth would they remove the typing position???

So it's not even possible to extend the viewing position all the way out so that it's relatively flat? This is dumb. I've used switcheasy cases for all my iDevices going back to the original iPhone but this make me want to disown them.

No worries. The typing position that has been shown in the video on the http://www.youtube.com/metagamers channel is quite nice, I think. Case breaks in nicely and that position, in my opinion, is more comfortable than the previous position used on the previous version of the case with the iPad 2. I quite like it.

I agree. The typing position on the new case has worked well for my needs and it makes it very easy to change the angle of the iPad when needed without having to keep flipping the case around.

Ah, ok that great news. I'm still debating if I want the Canvas or the Trig.

I tended to get annoyed at the weight/size addition the canvas added to my iPad 2, and would remove it for a 'break' many times. Also, the lack of a vertical orientation stand has me second guessing myself.

I plan to use an external keyboard and do some blogging from the new iPad, and I'm not sure if I will end up using the vertical orientation more. I think I'm just going to end up with a sleeve. Ugh.. but the Trig doesn't have a 'typing' position at all it seems(for the times I don't/can't use a keyboard)

I purchased the red canvas before it went on back order. Everything seems fine except when I rub my finger on the front cover or shift it ever so slightly it unlocks and locks like endlessly until I stop messing with it. I was trying to watch the video some poster posted but it was on private. Is this something I should get a replacement for?

As a follow up. I got my replacement Canvas case in Charcoal today (my other one did not activate sleep/wake) and its A-Ok!

If you guys have issues reach out to SwitchEasy, they will take care of you.

Hey Rick can you confirm if what I wrote above is normal or a defect?
Thanks!

It happens but should not be super easy to do. In one of my latest videos (Poetic HardCase) I demo this and its about the same for the Canvas case.

If yours is super easy to trigger you might want to contact SwitchEasy and see what they say.

Did they ask you to return your old one? I still haven't gotten my case and you are on your second.

No return necessary but I think I was one of the first people to issue a replacement order.

Got my replacement case and confirmed it works! :p

U guys check out the incepio case thread? Lol they paid just as much and got junk!

Way to go switcheasy

Hi Psychonaut,

Just received two Canvas yesterday (one charcoal and one brown) and I tested it and the charcoal was defective. I actually foresaw the problem and I did email them right after I placed the order in the hope that they can send me the right ones the first time..

I wonder did you order from the US site or you are from other countries? How quickly did they respond to you?

My first request has not been responded for 3 days. And I just sent them another formal replacement request.

FYI, the brown one (looks yellow) that I received works fine though.

Thanks.

UPDATE: Just received a response from the SwitchEasy International Team, they asked me to provide a video proof.. I am glad that there is some progress..

What a joke the European prices are simply swopping the $ to £. It be cheaper for me to import if I can find a store besides from Switcheasy to order from.

Anyone know a online retailer, plus any pics of the brow, strange to hear its yellow but really want a yellow case:)

Weight?

Hi guys, a question.

Those who already have Swicheasy Canvas for the new iPad, how heavy or light this case is? That's the only thing holding me off pulling the trigger. I do not mind that it's not a super slim case. But I use my iPad by holding it in hand(s) a lot (not always set it on a table), so weight is of a concern for me.

Would appreciate some inputs. Thanks.

Sorry to confuse you. I had the wrong term because of the lighting. It looks like cappuccino or a dark milk tea.

Pictures do justice. I chose a white background on purpose to shoot the pictures.

:p

Also for people who wonder how heavy it is, it is a rather subjective question. It has some weight in it and for a good comparison, I have included a picture for a LUXA2 PA4 for my iPad1.

For the thickness, I would say it is somewhere in the middle among other folio style products but I think Switcheasy does a good job in balancing the thickness, protection, weight and aesthetics.

What differentiates the SwitchEasy Canvas from other products is that it covers the ports and speaker grill really well. Only the home+volume+mute/rotation buttons are not. I actually prefer them to be covered as well but it is not doable by just using a polycarbonate case.

Apparently the guy who made the video said folding the cover like a book over time would damage it?. Could you see that happening?.

Haven't put the iPad into the case for use yet.

Can't tell right away but you can see some extra material being made to relieve the stress/stretch along the hinge when you flip the front cover to the back cover. The build quality seems to withstand the wear and tear. So for now I have faith in it, considering my past experience with other SwitchEasy products (though it was with their SwitchEasy Color cases with silicone)

This is one of the primary ways that I hold the iPad in the Canvas, cover folded over and then pushed even farther to the right so the right side of the cover hangs over the right side of the iPad by about half to three-quarters of an inch. This reduces the thickness of "book mode" quite a bit. I really squish it down so there's not much thickness left to the spine at all. Seems to be breaking in nicely.

As yet, I haven't seen any ill-effects from doing this and I think it's every bit as comfortable as holding my iPad 2 was in the second version of the Canvas.

The iPad (3rd gen) is heavy just on its own so I would have to say the added weight is negligible.

I've been using my case for about a week and typing with it is good in the lowest position.

Compared to the old canvas 2 I actually now can say that the clasp is fortunately gone and the new way they have the angle adjustment works far better than the grooves as the ipad 2 tended to jump out of the grooves.

The charcoal looks sexy and now I'm shopping for a messenger bag for my iPad

Just got my Charcoal case and LOVE IT! It looks great and the auto wake function works perfectly ( thank god). I don't feel it adds to much weight, but i'm used to having folio covers on my previous ipads. Feels very high quality. I'm very happy with my purchase so far.:apple:
