I sold my iPad 2 - could u confirm if the grey/charcoal works for the iPad 2?
Ordered Wed. night (charcoal). Never got an e-mail confirmation /w tracking. Showed up today. Weight /w iPad in case feels about the same as my iPad 2 Canvas. I was never a big fan of the clasp so the magnets are a welcome change, but my sleep/wake doesn't work. 🙁 I'll wait until confirmation that this issue is fixed before asking for a replacement. Overall I like it better than the original, has a cleaner appearance.
My sleep/wake function seems to work flawlessly with my Switcheasy Canvas. Hopefully it continues to work this well!
Just got my charcoal case, I love it better than I expected. Very sharp and a
Smooth. However my sleep wake function does not work either. Must be happening in a lot of charcoals. The magnets are there and keep it closed but no use not be waking it.

Ordered mine yesterday before the backorder started. Only got a paypal receipt. Hope it ships! Haven't seen any other info from them regarding my order.
I ordered charcoal but now I"m paranoid after watching Rick's video that my sleep/awake function won't work.
Just got my charcoal case in. The auto on/off function for my case seems to be working (not sure if it works as well as intended as detailed below). Some quick thoughts/first impressions:
-The color looks nice to me, does have that hint of olive but it's definitely not a bad thing. Very satisfied with the color of both the interior and exterior. The interior definitely is grayer than what it seems from the official pictures of the case.
-The case has a slightly weird smell out of the box - seems to be coming from the felt material on the inside probably because of how they stamped the felt. The smell should go away pretty quickly and I am not concerned about it.
-The auto on/off works for my case but I am not sure if it is functioning 100% correctly. If I shift the cover a little bit from the bottom when closed (even moving it 1/4"), the iPad turns on. Can some of the others with a different color case provide more detail into how sensitive their cover is when closed? I am concerned that having this case in a bag will make the iPad turn on and off when the cover moves at all. Even though the auto on/off seems to be working for me, this is definitely an issue.

did you just email them with a copy of the paypal receipt to get a new one shipped out after describing the problem? Are they replacing it with the same color or a different one? Did you ship the defective case back? I'm contemplating what to do if mine does not work as I'm leaving the country in a week and not sure if I will have time to wait for an exchange of cases.

Got my Black Canvas today. Fits well. Seems thinner overall compared to the iPad 2 version. Lid stays closed just fine - better than I thought it would.
My sleep/wake doesn't work either, so the problem isn't just limited to the Charcoal, but I'm not worried. As with everyone else, I'll just let them know. They are great about replacements. I am just glad to have the iPad in a case!
Looks like a lot of case makers got caught off guard by a shift in the sleep/awake magnets.

Same here, they got back to me within a couple of hours today and have mailed a replacement case.
Watched your video and the majority of cases that have the sleep / awake feature will do that if you do what you demonstrated in the video. It's pretty common and I can replicate the same thing with my apple smartcover.
Good to know - thanks for pointing that out. I've never personally owned an iPad before and I have only extensively used the previous Canvas case with the latch so I didn't know the sleep/wake function was that sensitive with latch-less cases.
Can you please confirm that your personal red and black new Canvas cases are also doing the same thing? Thanks again - you have been very helpful.
I ordered the Canvas in Charcoal on 3/14 and got it on launch day about 15 minutes prior to getting my iPad! Short review below:
PROS: Simply put, this case is absolutely wonderful. The quality of the materials, the extremely clean professional look and the overall functionality leave almost all other cases I've had or seen for previous generation iPads in the dust. Does it add a little weight and bulk - yes, but it does so with such class. If you want something that will legitimately protect your iPad then I can't say enough about how incredible Canvas is, but more importantly the SwitchEasy customer service blew my mind. I emailed that I was having an issue with the auto on/off and gave them my Invoice number and within an hour I had a response and a tracking number for my replacement. Unreal!
CONS: I will admit the auto on/off is a bit wonky but the issue is simply with the alignment of the front cover and not that it doesn't actually function when opened and closed (at least on my unit) so hopefully the replacement that is coming has this fixed. Just like the video that someone posted previously if the cover is shifted up very slightly you can hear the iPad click closed soon after you let go. You can replicate it with a smart cover, but nowhere near as easily. I think that if SwitchEasy alters the size of the magnet or possibly just changes the placement then I think it will be a fairly easy remedy. For the next few days I will just be careful to close the cover properly to ensure it is off.
If you are in the market for a folio style case and aren't looking for the absolute thinnest piece of plastic on Earth to "protect" (from little more than finger prints) the aluminum back of your iPad then stop the search and purchase the Canvas. Not only is the product top notch should you have any issue their customer service will without a doubt impress the hell out of you.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their contribution to this thread. I have been researching and scouring the Internet for any information on this case and when I came across this thread I quickly had all my questions answered and concerns addressed..

What color is that radio? Is that the charcoal? It looks darker and less all of them in some of the other pictures. Or is the lighter cover with a slight olive hue the gray?
I was wondering the same thing. I went ahead and place an order anyways – but I'm generally accustomed to seeing "available in X weeks" or a specific date that the backorder will be filled. I did send them an email asking to clarify when they expect to be shipping black canvas cases so hopefully I'll hear back soon.
Talked with Switcheasy earlier today, and the updated Coverbuddy case will be out by the end of the month, so another 7-10 days.
