Great job. If I still have my Macbook in three years, I'm probably going to paint it for its fourth birthday. Do post more pictures...

Cool project, I have been avoiding this thread out of fear that it would be a project gone-bad and I didn't want to see that, but it appears that you knew what you were doing and it turned out great. Good job.

can u tell me where u found that background?

http://macdesktops.com/?res=TRUE&category=8 about 3/4 of the way down.

So, on the second time boiling the keys the F6 key (that I had to glue earlier) cracked in half, so now I am short one key. Putting in one black key in that spot looked bad, do I thought I would try something I've seen before, making a checkered keyboard. I can always change it to all black keys, but I think it makes it even more custom looking.

Macro of Checkered keys.

This MacBook is now really hard to photograph under energy saving bulbs, it looks allot better in real life.

Now, onto why it took me a week to get it running. I was having problems with the logic board the week before I took it apart (this was the problem, something wrong with the PMU). After ordering a new logic board, I got it all together (minus temp sensors on the heatsink, I need to get a replacement) it still didn't boot. I finally figured out it was the topcase power button that was wrong with it, so I plugged it in and it booted right up. So thats the story on why it took me so long. Everything works fine now, so thats a good thing.

Just a black jel over the Apple logo (and a few other minor things) and I can call this done! I want to take some pictures in sunlight because all of the pictures under this light look really bad.

The checkered look doesn't suit it in my eyes. Get a replacement for the key you broke perhaps?

Pretty snazzy though. :)

wow, the black/orange contrast looks really cool, but rather than going for the checkered look with the keys, you could try something like this:

This way, you could have all of the A-Z letter keys in orange, and then every other key in black.

Wow, I think it may have been a stroke of luck that the F6 key broke because it looks so cool like that! :)

This is cool with a-z in one color, but I also like your design of checkerboard.

What about making an entire keyboard of orange, except for the center keys in the shape of an apple- so keys t,y,f,g,h,v,b,n and the number 6 and F6 woud be black. J would be orange for the bite out of the apple.

Might be sort of cool:cool:- or really stupid.

Or maybe just the function keys in one color and the rest in another.

I just found one of my old icolours.ca gel's, so I decided to try it out. I like it! Thoughts? What else needs to be done?

Fantastic! I've been following this from the beginning and I'm very impressed. I'm not certain the blue Apple logo is quite right though - something more like the crimson of the desktop background would work better in my opinion.

Im looking at these as ones I can get, I can get solid colors from a friend of mine in the theatre lighting business.

What color would look best? I still think black will look good, blue was the only one I had lying around though. Rainbow on orange?

From that range, I'd go for "Magenta" - I'd steer clear of the rainbow or any of the patterns, I don't think they'll look good with the orange.

maybe try this desktop so you can stick to the orange and black theme

I'd make the Apple black. It's the only color that makes sense with the computer's scheme. Whatever you do, get rid of the blue; that has no business on an orange-black object. Style 101, man.
