Comparing the offerings of a car company and computer hardware/software company is apples and walnuts.

Compare the innovations in the underpinnings in said car company with the hardware/software company. That might get a little closer.

Not sure why Tesla and there employees feel the need to attack Apple all the time. I get it there is poaching happening but this happens with every industry. You always want the best people. I sense there is some jealousy going on.

i'm not out of my mind because these check boxes are what consumers look for when buying EV. legacy auto mfg already released their EV but yet hardly anyone seen them on the road, if you think tesla is on the wrong side of the future, why is there a solid 7 month wait list for their model Y, a waitlist i'm on.
Just don’t end up like my friend. Got sideswiped last October, still waiting for replacement parts from Tesla. Bought his car in September and so far got 1 month of usage from it.

H's absolutely correct. Regardless of my feelings of the designs of Tesla products, their technology is fascinating and forward thinking. I am amazed at the features they provide. Im an apple product buyer but I just dont see anything they are doing lately that is all that imaginative anymore. No risks, no mouth dropping technology in today's standards.

Airplay was cool when introduced but its still lousy with latency. The sound is still behind the video on my homepod. I have no idea why the apple tv OS cant be integrated into a tv itself. Offer facetime cameras on tv for family calls.

I love my apple watch but he's also right. I use it for activity tracking. Respond to a text real quick but it's only a convenience when I dont have my phone near me which is rare. Why is taking so much to include a body temp reading for the watch?

If they cant come up with anything groundbreaking then how about increasing the thickness of the device by 2 mm and include a better battery? I dont need a super duper thin phone.

Why cant my phone use it's OLED screen when locked??

So many missing and limited features when we should be well past that at this point.

Apple does well at bring need innovation to existing product categories. If Apple does release a car, it will benefit the consumer. Otherwise Apple will not release the car.

Being critical of Apple isnt "attacking". Calm your tits, Apple can handle it.

Great. Tesla managed to add a mirror and a window wiper on a cybertuck in three years. Oh, and scaled up and down a Model S to create new highly fashionable designs with duckfaces. I understand, this guy is right!

“Design is how it works” -Steve Jobs.

Just because Apple hasn’t radically altered the way their devices look on the outside doesn’t mean they haven’t been improving the design. M1 chip is a massive improvement to how the Mac works- that’s a massive design improvement! The idea that Apple should just change their products’ looks for the sake of change is stupid- and a testament to how good Apple is at getting the general design right the first or second time.

Tesla design chief Franz von Holzhausen recently commented on Apple's design principles and product launches, lamenting that Apple doesn't deliver something "to look forward to."

During a podcast interview with Spike Feresten of Spike's Car Radio (via iPhone in Canada and Sawyer Merritt), Holzhausen said that Apple's devices are "just a continuation" and a "slight refinement on the same thing."

He also said that he "hates to say it" but he wears an Apple Watch "just because of the fitness thing side to it. Otherwise I haven't really found much purpose to it, other than the fitness part."

Holzhausen is responsible for designing the Tesla Model S, the Model 3, the Model X, and the Model Y, along with the unreleased Cybertruck. He has been with Tesla since 2008, and before that, he was the chief of design at Mazda and led the design of the Mazda Kabura concept car.

Apple and Tesla have a long history of poaching employees from one another, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has also publicly sniped at Apple. Back in 2015, Musk famously called Apple the "Tesla Graveyard," and claimed that "if you don't make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple."

This is the tech industry in general now to be honest. Maybe it's because I'm older, but not much excites me anymore that is announced. Everything is a "slight refinement."

Everything is pretty slick and well made at this point. The inner tech like the M1 chip is what is most exciting.

Do not deride the yoke. Fans of the car that was used in the TV series Knight Rider love the yoke. Have seen a number of youtube videos of fans fitting the yoke on their tesla cars, they love it.
The yoke looks terrible for city driving…but it’s cool and that trumps function
Doesn't the MME look like an bloated Mustang though?

Not saying the MME looks bad, it too looks somewhat generic, which isn't a bad thing.
yeah its not great but still prefer it to the model 3/y/x in the looks dept. I’d go with the S550 Mustang any day , well the 2015-17 or shelby ones, they ruined the grill on the latest ones lol

hello, macrumors users. no need to get offended. they attacked apple, not you.
As an apple investor, comments like these actually excite me because the competition is tipping their hand that their worried. The last time we saw competing brands feel the need to put apple down like this was when the iPhone first launched, and we all know how that worked out.

Do Apple investors actually think Apple is going to sell a car or do they think Apple is going to sell a Car Share service?

Hes not wrong though, Since Tim Cook Apple has played it very safe and has not really done a lot of exciting updates to the iPhone for example. The X was the big leap but since then innovation has stalled. The Apple Watch as well. I upgrade annually, but lets be real, Apple has not innovated in a long time.
as I read your post on my laptop with 21 hours of battery life on brand new industry-changing silicon with an incredible HDR screen at 1600 nits operating at barely 86 degrees Fahrenheit with no fans whatsoever. This thing is so innovative it feels like magic. Literally, what the hell are you talking about?

One of my major concerns about the independent EV manufacturer, after sales support. The current vehicle manufacturers have the support infrastructure already in place. My first question before buying an EV, or any new vehicle. How do I get this car maintenance done. Asked the question recently. Wife said how about a Mini Cooper. The answer, all service needs to be done at a Mini dealer. That involves a 100 mile round trip Just to have the oil changed. Scratch the Mini Cooper from the look at list. The same will happen if Apple starts selling a car. How does one get this car maintenance done.

LMFAO! I LOVE Tesla, but fam, they had the damn near EXACT SAME CAR DESIGN FOR A DECADE LOLOLOLOL. I literally can tell you to almost 100% accuracy what the 2023 lineup of Teslas will ALL look like.

You can't say this while being Tesla lololol.

Well first of all it's kinda hard to iterate on the MacBook Air. The design is kind of timeless. Now the Apple Watch they could make into circular shapes. The iPhone, what can you do with it? I am waiting for the Apple AR glasses and what they can do with Apple Home. They have a lot of pieces but now they have to make them work seamlessly.

Oh I see…I thought it’s was an innovative thing, since it’s started long before the pandemic, and all other companies started to copycat them.
I believe they are “looking forward” for next interaction of the whistle that will allow you to call your car with the thing.
Where is the cybertruck? Where is the roadster? Where is the semi? What happened to Tesla roofs?

At least Apple usually delivers when they say they will and doesn’t take people money before then.

I think you’re shortchanging things. I consider the iPad, ultra thin but powerful laptop w/o optical drive, and AirPods to be rather revolutionary. Each certainly was revolutionary for me; I felt the iPad was going to be a hit the moment I heard rumor of it, but I mocked the AirPods and MacBook Air initially, only to be pleasantly surprised after I was “converted” and saw the light. :)

I definitely may be. I see the iPad as a big iPhone. AirPods and Apple Watch - these are more of accessory items to the iPhone IMO.

Personal definitions will vary. I am just trying at a base level to look at the technology consumer space.
