Wow, Louisville falls to Houston.

I can't say that I'm at all surprised. First it seems the players and coaches of Louisville seemed preoccupied with the fact that they were on the outside looking in for the playoffs. I've also maintained that Louisville really hadn't played against any ranked or good teams (aside of FSU and Clemson)

Secondly, Houston was very motivated, they're were looking to save their season and they're finally getting healthy.

Thirdly Louisville has had an issue with turnovers and flags, both of which killed a lot of drives for them yesterday, you can't play sloppy and expect to keep winning. The QB is so talented, I think that factor was masked somewhat because he was able to over come it - except he couldn't last night.

The Michigan game was a nail biter until the end, great game, and Ohio squeezed by. I think next weeks Michigan and Ohio game is going to be HUGE. Both teams are great, both teams seem to have weaknesses in different areas, it will be great to see how this plays out.

On another topic, I think with the loss, Charlie Strong is a dead man walking, he's good as gone at Texas, Losing to a team that only had one win yesterday sealed his fate.

No I meant Michigan game, I watched that game, I only saw the end result of the Ohio game.
Well, your post was confusing, because it came right after the Michigan State vs. Ohio State game, and since you used "Ohio" to refer to Ohio State, I thought your first "Michigan" referred to Michigan State. There is a way to distinguish between
Michigan State University
The University of Michigan
The Ohio State University
Ohio University
...

It's going to be VERY interesting to see what happens with the College Football Playoff rankings after this weekend. If both Ohio State and Penn State win and Penn State wins the Big 10 Championship, how will they determine which team from the Big 10 will go to the playoff? This is the type of chaos that will force the College Football Playoff to be upgraded to eight teams--and eight teams will be the maximum for FBS-level college football.

I'm not sure what will happen with Penn State if they get to play in the Big 10 title game, but to me it's simple. Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State all control their own fates - you win, you're in. If any of these teams loses, they should be removed from the Top 4 unless all teams below them also loses. But assuming that Alabama, Clemson and Washington win their remaining games, there's only one spot remaining so whoever loses in the Big 10 should not be rewarded a spot over those 3.

In my opinion, if Penn State wins the Big 10, it has to be Bama, Ohio State, Penn State, Clemson (or Washington if Clemson loses) in the top four.

Crazy day in Kentucky today, with U of L falling to UK. That was something that no one saw happening.

We've always joked that football is just there to get us through until basketball season, but it's nice see UK football go out of the regular season with a bang(or a Boom as it might be).

I was bummed out to see the Wolverines fall to Ohio St. With Penn State winning and thus knocking out Ohio St from the championship game, what does that mean for the playoffs?

Ohio State will probably be in the playoffs, as will Alabama, even if they lose to Florida. Clemson probably will be there, too. The other spot is still up for grabs, I think.

Agreed, though its funny that they're in the playoffs but are not part of the big 10 championship game

Intersting to see what rankings will be post-championship week and could lay down a precedent for future rankings.

Also, feel sorry for Florida. Good luck to them because they're going to need it with their non-existent offense against a team who hasn't given up a TD in November.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess it'll end up being:

1) Bama
2) Ohio State - They've beaten Michigan, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. That's gotta be in.
3) Clemson - I think this is a very beatable team, but they are undefeated. They'll stay here unless they lose the ACC championship game.
4) Big 10 Champion.

fixed.

If Washington wins out, I don't see how they can be left out nor can I see the committee leaving out a one-loss conference champion.

If ranked/unranked PSU was an out of conference game that OSU lost, there could be a stronger argument that OSU should be in the top 4. But when you lose in a head/head, not a division leader/winner and didn't win a conference championship, that's too many factors/'points" to overlook to say OSU should be included.

Of course, how could I forget the Pitt game.

I think Ohio State should be in. They lost to Penn State, who could very well end up being the Big 10 champion. Ohio State has beaten the number 3, 8, and 16 teams in the nation. I honestly don't see how they don't end up in.

Then again, I see your points for Washington. Assuming they win out, you have a Pac 12 champ that beat the number 9, 22, and 23 team in the nation. Their loss is not a bad one either - a surging USC.

Who knows what they committee decides. They're gonna make somebody mad either way, ha. At this point, Alabama, and then pull 3 out of a hat for Ohio State, Washington, Clemson, Penn State, and maybe Wisconsin if they win the Big 10.

The only thing for certain is whatever the committee decides, it's going to lay down a precedent for future playoffs. If both Ohio State and Big 10 champion gets in, it's going to severely diminish season record and the the Power 5 conference championship which in turn makes it extremely difficult for sleeper teams like a Notre Dame or other school because all the committee will be saying is we want the sexy schools and all those quantitative metrics don't mean anything when it should hold more bearing than the qualitative metrics.

Also this is the way I see it, if you can get bumped from losing a conference title game, then you should also benefit from it even if it allows you to remove someone who isn't playing in one.

It looks like many of the bowl selection committee is rooting against navy this weekend. IF they win, that may affect how and when the bowl games are selected
Sporting News

Just for pure enjoyment of this process, I hope Navy does win. Normally, I'd that if they're playing Temple, it should be an easy win, but they seem to have a good record this year so this may even be a good game to watch :)

Official Rankings:

1- Alabama
2- Clemson
3- Ohio State
4- Washington

Not sure I agree with putting in Ohio State. Lost head to head vs. Penn State, and doesn't win the Big 10.
