It looks nice, but performs slowly on my iPad. Also when I switch orientations, the app crashes. I tried this twice. I'll restart the iPad to see if it's memory issues.

That is because American newspapers and magazines and news channels would be useless to anybody outside America. They are 90% focused on American news like the Tiger Woods scandal or Lindsay Lohan or OJ Simpson and you would go "OJ who??".

You would be surprised at how little major newspapers and news channels in America report on International news. Again probably because most Americans could care less what is happening outside America. You are better off with BBC.

Not all Europeans are ignorant to what goes on in the US, I follow it quite thoroughly.

All gone. Like antennas on top of roofs, replace by cables and satellites, Newspapers and most printed material is being replaced by the iPad Age.

Except in Montgomery County Maryland where my wife and I froze in the dark for five days last week because PEPCO is so incompetent at restoring power for thousands of people....."Stone Age stuff in an affluent suburb of the nation's capital - unbelievable!"

I just looked at the entire app and I am very impressed. This is the first step towards magazines truly making it to the iPad. Was this apple technology or was it a partnership with the tech guys under murdoch and apple? Either way I'm impressed. Still not sure if I will pay for it.

Any info as to when it will be available in the UK - and any ideas of a workaround to get it in the meantime...? I don't have a USA registered credit card needed to set up as USA iTunes account :(

You can make a US account with no payment required. Should be an option to choose No Payment Method or words to that effect. Just google a US address and you're good to go. :)

Is the subscription per iPad or per iTunes account. My husband and I share the same iTunes account with 2 different iPads. It would be great if we can just get one subscription.

Not surprised at all it's not on the Australian store yet-maybe they're testing the " waters" with a US only release at the first and may appear on other countries app stores at a later date.

Not on the Irish app store? Maybe they think Irelands economy has had all the bad news it needs this year.

The app seems like it will be nice, but it's hard to be sure from all the crashes. I'm an iOS dev too, so I can certainly sympathize, but it crashes so often I can't believe they would release it in this state. Most of these crashes should be easy to track down in a debug version.

If the Daily included streaming of Hannity, O'Reilly and Meghan Kelly, I would definitely be all in. Kelly is just so hot.

In degrees of bias no one exceeds Fox News, that's why they admitted to being mostly opinion in the UK recently.

I think you misread what they said, or else you got it from a biased news source. :)

No one who pays close attention to news thinks that CNN has a liberal bias, CNN just isn't very good at news, period.

CNN pays to play, thus they're biased against bad news toward whomever is paying. Remember all that bad news on CNN on Saddam's regime back in the day? Oh yeah, they didn't broadcast any to protect their access... So biased by ommission.

I really don't know where you live or where you've travelled, but every time I step onto European soil (a little more than a half dozen times), about half of the newscast is dedicated to US news.

iPad, iTunes clunky, can't buy Daily

The iPad and iTunes store don't let users update or buy apps on computers other than the one that the iPad owner originally used to download apps. If you try to update apps, iTunes wants to replace photos on the iPad with photos on the computer you're using. Click cancel, and the whole process ends. We have several Macs, and the one we need isn't with us at the moment.

Both my wife and I don't like the iPad. It is very clunky, terrible for writers and is nowhere as advertised and hyped by its fans.

I tried to buy the Daily on the iPad. It requires you to download the app on your computer. When you try to buy the app, you get a warning that you must upgrade the iPad ios to 4.2, but before that you must transfer updated and purchased apps to the iPad. But if you're on a foreign computer, you can't do that without screwing up the photos on the iPad.

This is very frustrating for someone who's been buying and using Macs for almost 24 years and has wasted nearly $700 on an iPad that just doesn't measure up.

I think that as more iPad users get fed up with the device, the fad will end.

I like it. I'd pay for it if it beats my skepticism and doesn't turn out to be a Fox News clone. If they remain centrist and unbiased, I can afford 99¢ for an iPad purpose built news app.

That said, other players will most likely come forward with their own, at which point we can choose our favourite.

Verdict: I'll wait and see.

If it's Centrist, it's necessarily Biased. Unbiased would mean no political persuasions, not pragmatic amalgamations of them.

Can you download each issue and if so how long does it take/big it is? I only have the wifi model and would like to take it on the metro with me.

Thanks!

Fair & Balanced?

Read the piece at the end of the issue, from the editor. It states plainly that they will continue to advance their notion of what the US is and should be. At least they're coming right out with it.

Aside of the ****** performance, I was disappointed in that editorial. Kind of FOX-lite.

I'm not sure if this has been asked but don't feel like going through the entire thread. Does anyone know if The Daily will automatically be downloaded to your iPad every day or if you have to open the app for it to download? The biggest drawback of the NY Times & WSJ apps for me, is that if I forget to download all the content before heading into the subway in the morning, I can't read the day's new news. Anyone know if The Daily will function similarly or if it will have the ability to automatically download by itself?

The Daily Filth!?

Awesome product for a nonsensical consumer society :)

It's not a "daily" app, it will update itself anytime the editors want it to. When you run it, all the data is pulled from servers. Nothing is downloaded to your device (besides cached data). It's not like the Wired Magazine app or anything.
