I really don’t see how recharging can be disruptive or inconvenient.
Well, yes, it is well and truly a "first world problem" - but if I pay well over the odds for luxury premium-branded goods who's makers like to brag about their world class design and innovation skills I absolutely do expect them to solve my first world problems!

If I wanted to be economical with my mousing needs, I think I've still got a wired MS Intellimouse from the 1990s in a cupboard somewhere and I'm pretty sure it still works - and I'd rather use that than any mouse Apple have ever made.

Am I wrong or does legit 9/10 chargeable mouses on the market also have it on the bottom? I understand that it's annoying, but it seemingly the way everyone does it, but only Apple gets **** for it
Incorrect. But! It’s gonna take courage!

Folks, Apple is not going to spend a lot of time and resources on a niche product.

It's not a big surprise given the mouse, keyboard and trackpad probably make up such a small percentage of revenue.

Maybe one day in the future, but sadly I think there's a better chance Apple killing off the iMac than it ever being redesigned again.
Niche? They shipped 22 million desktops PCs in 2023 that either came with that or a trackpad. Plus all the separate sales. It's in the tens of millions per year however you look at it.

How dare people have an opinion! Nevermind that this is largely a solved problem but Apple will not give ground because to change it would be an admission of guilt -or worse- bad design.

I prefer a mouse - it's just more precise, and a lot more practical for right button clicks etc as well.

That said, I obviously don't use an Apple mouse - I use a nice one.
And they charge 80$ dollars!! You can get a nice mouse for that price

Good. Probably because they realize that the only people crying about this are the people who have no intention of buying a Magic Mouse.

Meanwhile, Magic Mouse owners continue to be unaffected by the location of the charge port.

Dem some fist rate mental gymnastics right there!

Clearly, whether you like the MM or not, it would be a better and more functional product with a properly placed charging port.

MX Master 3s FTW!

Who is it embarrassing to? I’m not embarrassed. Apple isn’t embarrassed. The shareholders aren’t embarrassed.(imo)

Are you embarrassed?

I honestly don’t see anything wrong the design. But that’s me.
I am embarrassed for Apple. You can always turn a blind eye.

I am good with Logitech MX Master 3s.

You can't have a flaw if it is intentional.

They don't want their mice to look like some 1990s wired mouse.

Even PC owners don't charge their mouse when using it. They don't like the look of wired mice either.

Stop falling for clickbait.
Really my Logitech MX Master keyboard and Logi Trackball Mouse both have easy charging and I just have a cable on my desk and plug in and keep working unplug it at the end of the day.

That's clever, since all the reports say that it takes 2 hours for a full charge - 2 minutes just gets you a day, so you'll need another unscheduled coffee break the next day.

I have a Logitech mouse with a sensibly positioned charging port. I charge my mouse when it needs charging without seriously interrupting my work/play - usually leaving it connected until it gets a full charge - and go for a coffee when I need charging. It's just better - and doesn't stop anybody charging it overnight if they're infallible.

No, it was a clear decision to convert from AA cells to rechargeable on the cheap with the bare minimum of changes to design/tooling.

Putting up with a mouse cable for an hour or so (some of us put up with that for a decade or so) doesn't "degrade the experience" nearly as much as having the mouse lying on its back like a dying tortoise...
The time it takes to read this plugged in probably gives the mouse a week battery. You’re being dramatic.

Sounds like a lot, but when you consider iMacs make up only 4% of Mac sales. And all Macs including MBs only account for 8% of Apple sales.

They obviously have the numbers...of peripheral sales and user complaints.

Look at you with your facts and logic! The Apple shareholders and employees stalking this forum and astroturfing wont stand for it.

It seems weird you can lay an iPhone on a flat surface and it will charge, yet a mouse that lives on a flat surface needs to be plugged in to charge. I am less baffled by Apple not moving the charging port than by not bringing out a Magic Mousepad with a charging coil in the corner. It seems something that would be more user friendly, and — sold separately to Mouse, premium design options available — shareholder friendly.

That’s a great idea! For all those that don’t see it as a big deal this right here is how you pump the ASP! Apple is leaving money on the table if anything

To Apple the usb-c/lightning port being on the bottom and not elsewhere is a feature not a bug. They don’t want people using the mouse wired, like I’ve been known to do with the trackpad and keyboard lol

"Siri, magically deduce when I've finished work/finished my last facetime call/completed the level/finished my Minecraft recreation of Gormenghast and am actually ready to upend my mouse for the night".

I have plenty of things to do/remember/schedule every day - adhering to a strict charging regimen for my mouse shouldn't be one of them.

I shouldn't have to tell you that you can set a reminder for whatever time you want. It's a mouse - it's really not that serious.

That's ok. It's the stupidest mouse ever designed. The first thing people do is get a new mouse so they can actually use their new Mac. Apple's mouse just ends up in a junk box or in the trash.
I don't know any Mac users not using the Magic Mouse. I'm so used to it I hate using anything else cus I miss the multitouch too much. I can't believe they still sell mice with plain wheels that can't go sideways
