Shipped this morning (posted in other UK thread....why do we have two?!) via TNT (aka UPS). I'm North London (hertfordshire) and ordered on the phone at about 8:50pm.

So which is the better courier company ? TNT or UPS ?

It's a given they are both epically large and successful courier companies that will get us our shiny iPads by the end of next week.

However given they'll all be under strict instructions not to deliver before the 16th of March, I'm hoping mine is with the more 'cowboy' of the two organisations! We can but hope.

UPS. I used to work for them many years ago so I may be a bit biased but in recent years I have had two deliveries from TNT where their drivers say that they have been a left a card but I was at home waiting for the delivery.

Turns put that the area that I live in (new estate) isn't up to date on their GPS system but if they are busy they don't bother ringing and just say they dropped a card off. Their customer service department sided with the drivers (as you would expect) and said I must have thrown the card away by accident ... both times.

UPS finds my place every time, as does every other courier, so if I have a choice I would rather avoid TNT on this occasion.

I'm sure some folk will have had bad experiences with UPS too so your milage may vary.

Must admit that I had a missed card from UPS yesterday, trying to deliver a Smart Cover. Had literally just come off the phone today to rearrange delivery for next Friday when TNT are delivering the iPad when the doorbell rang and here was UPS again, trying a Saturday delivery. 10/10 to UPS....can TNT match them on Friday?

Hmmm now im worried :( .... the 4g is for me and the wifi is for my brother. Will be a tad annoyed if TNT pulls that trick on me.

Unusual for UPS, they don't normally do Saturday deliveries. Maybe they are trying to clear as much as they can ready for next week.

Order: iPad 32Gb White + 4G

Ordered on 08/03/2012 2:20am

Really hoping for an early delivery

In Regard to TNT vs UPS, I have had not much experience with TNT but lots with UPS.

UPS for me tend to ALWAYS come at about 6-8pm if at all, and its a man in a car or a van. every Apple order I have got from UPS and several times they have tried to fob me off until the next day until I made a fuss on the phone and they contacted the driver to come to me asap at about 6-8pm or given me their phone number to contact them myself.

So they are good in the way they got it to me eventually, but the time they usually deliver and the fact I have to fight for it to be delivered on the day I am quoted I do not like about UPS.

You can get Saturday delivery with UPS but they change £15 to £20 for it, so this was good service.

Don't stress about it, just keep an eye on their tracking website and if it says "left card" and you were in, give them a call.

got an email last night telling me it had shipped, but this afternoon i just received this:

which as you can see says "on or before" March 16th.

Checked it and it says it's being shipped by TNT, my nearest TNT depot is 30 miles away since the closed the one in my town last year, anyone know how good TNT is?

Lucky you. I am order no W2854****** and have the misfortune to live in Scotland so not getting delivery till 21st :(

I don't think the order numbers are strictly numerical. My order starts 2732 and, even with the iPad launch, I can't imagine there were 17 million orders received between mine and the one listed above.

That's true Keith. Oh well, just have to be patient. I have done without an iPad until now anyway so I'm sure a few more days won't matter! Scotland often seems to get a raw deal with postage charges and delays.

Yeah, mine is W2142, ordered about 23:45 on Wednesday. But I'm in Belfast so I have a delivery date delayed to 20th.

They are arbitrary. People realised a while back that you could draw conclusions about order times, shipping, stock levels etc by comparing sequential order numbers, so Apple started randomising them.

Not sure has anything to do with you being in Scotland. I'm also in Scotland and mine shipped this morning. Who knows how Apple's logistics work internally - order numbers aren't necessarily dealt with in sequence (perhaps they allocate blocks or perhaps companies ordering large batches will get some priority).

It looks like it has got something to do with your address in Scotland. Apart

from one or 2 in Cornwall it cannot be a coincidence that all delay emails went

to people in Scotland or Northern Ireland. That sounds like a well thought out

plan to me :(
