I had this with my iPhone 4 order. When I was able to start tracking, the 'old' delivery from a few months previously with the same tracking number was still visible so when you are able to start tracking don't event the old item to disappear.
My tracking number on the apple email is a 10 digit number but as there was no tracking info still available to view on the UPS website I rang UPS. A rather snotty customer service rep told me that the tracking number should be 16 digits and she couldnt track the package without it... rang apple and got a tracking number totally different from the one I got on the email!!!.
This new tracking number also didnt appear on the UPS website so rang apple back. The guy I spoke to couldnt find it either but on further investigation discovered that the iPad was still sat in their distribution centre in Hinkley waiting for UPS to collect. Hopefully all will still be well for Friday.

UPS should be a 16 digit number, if this isnt listed on your email then ring apple to obtain the proper tracking number. Mine wasnt on the email and got a seperate tracking number direct from apple for UPS starting 1ZW***************
Anyone noticed that on TNT website it says enter your 8 character shipment number? I only have numbers that are 10 characters long.....

As with others mines up North too, to be honest I'm not overlly fussy about tracking unless it doesn't turn up Friday! Which I'm sure it will though...Thankyou. I don't have a tracking code in my E-Mail, however I can I click a tracking number (1ZW***************) on my orders page, but it comes up as an error, so I'll try later.
My oder is also delivered by UPS. However, I'm not able to find the 1ZW*************** tracking number on my order page. All I can find is 10 digits number. Is it possible for you to post the screenshot of your page? Thank you
Go to your orders page, and click the arrow (facing down) on the right of the "Track Shipment" button. Then right click the number so it highlights, then click to the side of it and copy it.
Mine are still showing as an error.

Delivery is on Friday, this is Monday. Proper tracking will probably not be available until it actually starts moving, which at a guess might be Wednesday.
The damn thing wasn't even announced until last Wednesday evening, this is pretty good progress and nothing to worry about. If you have had the shipping confirmation, it will be there for Friday.

Need to know where iPad is, must obsess over tracking!
I guess you can blame people for being excited... however I agree patience is a virtue....
For heavens sake, why are you all stressing about your iPad tracking numbers? You've had your shipment notification so obviously you've all been succesful in getting the pre-order allocation so be happy. Calling UPS, calling Apple, chasing your tails - to what ends? It's not due for delivery until Friday, it's been assigned a tracking number, it's obviously awaiting collection and all will be well. It's all going to be fine, in the words of Michael Winner "Calm down dear".

I think everyone here is very impatient to get their new toys and no harm in talking about tracking numbers although it can come across that some people are obsessing over them.
I'm excited to be getting mine on Friday but I guess there's a line between excitement and obsessing - I think some may have slightly stepped over that line.

I phoned Apple on Friday to ask about my order being delayed. To begin with the guy I spoke to couldn't see any sign of the delay but then found an email attached to the order which confirmed it. I asked if changing delivery address might change the delivery date but after consulting with his supervisor, he couldn't confirm anything and told me to expect delivery on the 21st as per the email. He said the next thing I should get from Apple is a confirmation of shipment at which time my delivery date should be confirmed.
The only useful thing to come out of the 50 minute call ( inc 40 min wait) was his confirmation that if I managed to get an iPad in store on launch day then I could cancel my online order without penalty. Of course I already knew this...
Does anyone know what time stores will start selling the new iPad on Friday? Is it just normal opening hours?
