My fedex tracking number just went live. I've had it since Saturday night. Shows it sitting in Nashville with a delivery friday by 3.

I guess I won't be doing much "tracking" since I live IN nashville. I liked it more when I could track the plane from China.

I noticed that too, that the tracking starts in the US not China. My start point was Ontario, CA.

I guess Apple had them stockpiled in the US way ahead of the March 7th announcement.

I just received my tracking number today, and it showed that Ipad will be delivered tomorrow. March 13. It is kind of weird. Does anyone get same situation as me ?

Mine says the same thing. I'm hoping since Future Delivery Requested does take time to get the deliver date changed that mine gets delivered before they can change the exception in the system!

Mine starts with 52 and I have no info from Fedex still. I received my shipped email Saturday night around 10 central.

Anybody with a '5' tracking number that works?

Yes, mine starts with a 5. I received my FedEx number Friday morning and it started working Sunday morning.

Two of the five (all 64GB black ATT) I ordered are now "shipped", while the other three are "processing items". I have a sneaking suspicion they're going to wind up getting cancelled. Which is a bummer, because the third one is mine!

WOOT! The other 3 are now "Preparing for Shipment"! Looks like I won't have to stare longingly at the CTO's iPad after all....

Ordered two 32gb Black WiFi only iPads when site went live after keynote on Wednesday. Been "preparing for shipment" to the Atlanta, GA area for days, but I'm not worried. I'm used to Apple launches and they make their dates no matter how wacky the shipments seem. I assume my units, once they ship, will come from Tennessee.

I think I noticed someone else who ordered 2 get separate tracking numbers. I know you definitely would if you ordered them at different times, but does Apple ship separately when orders of 2 are made under one order number? Thanks!

I'm surprised FedEx has agreed to warehouse so many iPads. I guess that's a stipulation of the agreement. We will use you if you will hold shipment until Friday. Also, it just seems illogical to have the device sit in a warehouse for no reason other than, "You can't have it until we say you can have it." It's ready to go out, send it out.

While they are ready to go since many are packaged at FedEx and ready to roll, the OFFICIAL release day for the new iPad is the 16th. Getting them to the delivery companies early is merely to ensure we get them on launch day.

The only reason I can think of is they might want to keep the launch day exclusively for the Apple Stores, so the mad rush during the launch day doesn't become an empty event, where people already have an ipad at home.

That's the only logical reason I can think of.

Just got a call (automated) from FedEx reminding me of my shipment tomorrow (case only). Was hoping there would be an error and both would be delivered together, but they are coming from different states....

You would think that everyone that was gonna stand in line is gonna stand in line anyway at this point. If they didn't preorder in the first few days they aren't getting it this Friday.

Oh I thought I'd add that mine is shipping through FedEx (tracking numbers worked immediately) and was picked up in Ontario, CA. I'm near Fresno CA.
