Saw a friend's Chinao Wheat today...still think that is the best looking and best made iPad 2 out there. If the new iPad fits...I'll be getting one.
i have the Chinao wheat case; it's lasted incredibly well for almost a year. It's really slim, and the frame around the bezel hides very little of it. The Yoobao, which I also have, is very similar. These 2 cases are my "work horses", for every day use. I also use the wheat case on vacation; it just seems to provide such secure protection, while being very light-weight.

However, now I am wondering about a different style, with the hard shell rear.
Watching and waiting for reviews while I make up my mind. If you get the Chinao wheat, you'll love it.:D this will be my 3rd iPad, so I have had quite a case collection.:)

I was looking at those Macally cases and I saw that the front cover of the Protevtive Case Stand folds in three portions (not in four like the Smart Cover). I think this will be unpractical, because I think it won't be stable in the typing angle.
What do you think?

I just noticed that too a couple of hours ago. I really love the look of these cases. The first type ships on the 19th,(the one with the detachable cover). I might just wait for the first reviews. It looks like my iPad 2 cases will fit my new device just fine, so I can afford to take my time this go 'round
D. I'm going to do quick check on the JoyFactory to see if there are 3 or 4 folds. I do know that the balance has to be just perfect, or the ipad will topple over in the upright/movie watching position. 3 folds, because each one is larger, could be quite stable because of the larger footprint, if you know what I mean.

Edit: The JoyFactory does indeed have 4 folds. I really don't know if this is a big deal yet. Macally, afterall, is a company that has been producing many different peripherals for a long time, so I am inclined to believe they know what they're doing.

Thoughts anyone??

I can confidently state that this thread has made
Me hold off on purchasing a case due to its wide array of choices.

Looks like I'll be with a naked iPad till reviews and more companies come out with cases.

Nevertheless, I'm super excited to get the new iPad tomorrow!! 5pm!!

I think if you roll the front cover in a triangle for typing, it won't stay in place because of the 3 folds...
With 4 folds one of the sides of the triangle is double, so it stays together in that shape. If you know what I mean?

I tend to agree with you. The 4 folds will probably hold their position in a more stable manner. I actually just checked Amazon - always a great place to find reviews. JoyFactory, with its 4 folds does get excellent ratings.
Now I am REALLY confused about choices, but I am so happy you brought that up!

Does the iPad 2 Zoogue case fit the new iPad? It seems like it will. I had listed mine for sale in the Marketplace on this site, but maybe if it fits the new iPad I should just keep it.

I will let you know as soon as I get my iPad Friday. Worst case scenario and it doesn't fit? I'll sell it to a buddy with an iPad 2 for half price and call it a learning experience. I'm way too impatient to return it via Amazon.

Personally I would go with the Joy Factory.
That's the only one in your list which I am considering too.

I'm really curious about the Casemate Tuxedo's "magic tape" thing. It looks like a ridiculously slim case:

Video review of the iPad 2 version is promising: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heVqCXxeBZE

Anyone can vouch for this?

Looks like the iPad 3 version is made with a cheaper material than the iPad 2 one. The one for the 2 looks like a nice leather-type material and offered in black and tan. The one for the 3 seems to be a more textures plastic material and offered in more colors. .

I've narrowed my choices to the STM Skinny and the Casemate Tuxedo. The tag on the STM Skinny case is a bit of a deal breaker for me, personally. It just looks cumbersome to use, and Amazon reviews say when it gets worn, the tab actually slips out by itself. Otherwise, it's probably the best looking case I've seen.

I think I'm going to take the risk and go with the Casemate Tuxedo and its "Magic Tape"...

According to their website, both iPad 2 and 3 cases are made of the same material? I do see what you mean though. Maybe it's the lighting/pictures, or a different finish?

I'm just really attracted to the novelty of having the iPad just exist without any borders or holsters to clip into. The "magic tape" worries me a little (like, will it melt the temperature gets really hot? etc.). And the lack of borders obviously doesn't mean the iPad is fully protected, but at the same time, the "open-ness" might alleviate heating of the iPad itself?

I guess only one way to find out.

Yeah, there are basically too many choices right now, and a lot of companies aren't even shipping the cases that look the best. All I want is a good silicone skin to protect the back of my new iPad, but it seems like all people are selling is folio cases. Yuck.

I'm interested in hearing your findings. Thanks!

The fit isn't perfect but it will do fine. It is just a little bit too small for the iPad, but nothing noticeable after the leather gets broken in I bet.

edit.....post edited to include pics of how it's just a little too small. I did find however that I have no idea how to attach a pic on this forum while using my iPad, am I missing something? The buttons you need to push to upload pics are greyed out, had to switch to my laptop. Oh for those that don't want to scroll back up, this is the "ZooGue Case Genius" that is "made for the iPad 2" according to the box.

Edit #2, they apparently move the magnets or sensors for the smart cover functionality because the smart cover functionality does not work with this case like advertised, however it works just fine with the official Apple smart cover
