I managed to get the 30th anniversary playstation portal for myself. But after playing with it for 10 mins, i decided its not for me and sold it away lol

1. Screen too small. Only 8 inches
2. Screen is LCD, not OLED. Colors are not as gd as on my OLED tv.
3. Holding the Portal felt very unnatural and quite heavy after some time. It's basically a dualsense controller split into 2
4. No bluetooth. You have to buy your own bluetooth dongle to connect to the aux port in order to use your own earphones.

Gaming remotely on my 13 in Ipad OLED Pro is way better. I can connect my dualsense ps5 controller easily, as well as my bluetooth earphones. Image quality is superb and much better than the tiny 8 in screen. Also dont need to hold the heavy device

Thanks for sharing. It's the type of niche accessory that when it works well, it is the perfect device for a minority of people. For the majority of people, it doesn't do a good enough job at improving on how you can remote play using a phone or tablet.

Woohoo!
I think handhelds are the future of gaming.

That's hilarious they are considering another handheld after the disastrous PS Vita and they nuked the handheld a couple years after the launch. I was all in on the PS Vita, still have two OLED Vita's. I have zero faith in Sony's handhelds. At least the original PSP had longer legs but that was because people were buying them to jailbreak the device and play games on it, illegally.

This time it will be different.

It will likely be like a steam deck but with a PS store front. Many popular PS4/5 titles are already available on PC.

The handheld will likely run those versions but with optimised visual settings and configs for dual sense 2. Everything is user friendly without needing to tinker with windows settings.

It would be a great opportunity for Sony to usurp Valve. The steam deck is great but because of the low awareness of valve as a hardware manufacturers it doesn't appeal to mainstream buyers the way an Xbox or Playstation handheld would.

The other word of caution regarding any new Sony handheld is that have a propensity to kill off very early any product that's hurting their bottom line because Sony's cash cow is the PlayStation brand, not their TV's, smartphones or any other product. They will nuke a product even faster than Google and they have a reputation for killing off products too early.

The most recent is the PSVR2 and as usual it was Sony who released another product that quickly went DOA and that was pricing related. When Sony's asking for gamers to buy a product that costs more than the PS5 and will only work on a PS5 and the games are lacking. That product has Dead On Arrival written all over it.

What did the PS Vita in was the same. The Vita cost as much as a PlayStation 4, the games were also priced in the same range as PS4 games. But what really did the PS Vita in, was Sony's pricing of its memory cards which were proprietary. So unlike the PSP where you could buy off the shelf memory cards, you had to buy memory cards from Sony and those memory cards as I remember were insanely priced.

Based on their past, Sony will probably find a way to turn a great idea into the next PS Vita and PSVR2. They always do and I used to work for Sony in one of their support centers in the US. So I have no angst towards Sony. It's just Sony who has a history of tripping over their own two feet when nothing is standing in their way. They can be their worst own enemies.

Yeah. Abandonware is Sony and googles surname.
You obviously haven't been paying attention to Sony's track record, bailing on their products rather quickly. How long did it take for Sony to halt PSVR2 production for a $599 product? I'm sure developers are thrilled just like they were thrilled when Sony killed off the PS Vita. You go right ahead and be their test dummy for their new handheld because Nintendo owns that market.

the Vita became good cuz you could jailbreak it and play all games for free, also install retroarch and play all the other systems games for free hahaha. I really like my VITA cuz of that.

Vita games itself were pretty lackluster

Theoratically, All the next Sony Handheld needs to do is have an oled screen with 2tb ssd. Download games off the cloud so you can play on the go without wifi.

granted, the ipad oled costs way more hahaha. But it's the best way to game on the go, ps5 or not. You can also install retroarch and play a whole world of games lol. I installed all the Arcade games of old on my ipad.

Playing the X-men arcade game on 13in oled goodness is so awesome.

only ps5 i think. Cloud requires extra subscription to the premium service. I only play single player games on the ps5, so i have never subscribed to Playstation plus before.

The Premium subscription would not be an obstacle. I know they just added cloud streaming with a Premium sub to the Portal, but it's still in beta. Just wondering if the remote app has the same option of cloud streaming with a Premium sub.

No, Sony will not usurp Valve, it needs to reduce its pricing significantly to do that! Its Black Friday offers are a complete joke, the same games on disk at Amazon are way cheaper.

Finally done with Star wars Outlaws. What a great game despite all the review bombing by youtube influencers.

Whats the best way to play Red Dead Redemption 2?

I see it's really cheap on the Playstation store now during Black Friday Sales, but I can also download it for free on my gaming PC via "Ahem" sources.

I just want to play the best version of this game possible since it's such a masterpiece.

That's interesting to know. Games that are based on movies or shows can often get negative reviews. I might pick up Star Wars Outlaws when it's on sale. Furthermore on youtube, videos with negative content often get alot of clicks and views.

I bought RDR2 last year to pass time until GTA6 launch. It's a stunning game, amazing and sometimes funny game. Modern hardware does it justice in ways that old hardware couldn't. Unless you have a strong convinience reason to play on PS5, I would by the PC version. It runs very well.

I initially had a bad view on Outlaws as well after watching all the bad press about it. But I got it for free after purchasing my 4070 Ti Super, so i decided to play it anyway. The stealth part is abit weak, storm troopers get taken down with a punch to the head. But other than that, the story is very awesome. It's just a great star wars story that doesn't have jedi in it. Think Andor and Rogue one movies. The more I played the game, the more I enjoyed the story, lol.

Ok will play RDR2 on my PC then. Max settings on 39 in Ultra wide screen OLED will be awesome!

I caved in and bought the Pro. Transferred all my games by copying them on the SSD extension drive and installing that in the Pro. Worked out perfectly.

The Pro is actually a little smaller than the launch model it's replacing. This is nice.

It has some fan noise, but nothing I can hear when playing at normal volume.

I was going to add a disc drive later, as I still have a handful of PS4 games on disc. But I realized I already had half of these games as part of PS Plus monthly games, and I can buy the other ones digital on sale, which will come out a lot cheaper than buying a disc drive. Thus, my transition to digital-only is finally complete! :)

Performance wise, I can't really comment yet. I am re-playing Uncharted 4 at the moment, which has not been optimized for the Pro yet.

Thanks for this. Interested to hear your thoughts after you've spent some quality time with it.

FINALLY a sign of life from Naughty Dog. New Sci Fi game announced. I am mildly intrigued. Will need to see more, but ND have a very good track record. To be honest, its biggest flaw is not being TLOU Part 3. :D

It’s not my taste at all! I hated TLOU2 and this looks worst. Thinking of getting another Series X actually to play the games I had on there in my collection. Sony isn’t really offering me much to play at the moment.

For me TLOU part 1 and Uncharted 2 and 3 were when Naughty Dog had its day. Great games.

It‘s a big game that has been in development for four years. It will not get cancelled because some people cannot handle a woman with a shaved head.
