lol if this is true, but im not getting my hopes up, but on march 2nd, do u mean macbooks or macbook pros?

I was just kidding with my post with all the dates. I'm glad many of you realized it was a joke.

Apple would be shooting itself in the foot if it ever announced anything like this. You don't announce to people the date you'll be releasing an upgrade, because nobody would buy your products before that date. Plus, not everything is scheduled. If the iPads sell like crazy, then the price will probably stay the same. If they don't sell that well, and their sales are being eaten by a $349 HP Slate, then Apple might reduce the price of the iPad to $349.

Nothing is predetermined. Why does anyone think Apple has any sort of a schedule like this????

Right. According to those logics, Apple would be selling machines with Pentium IV CPUs. I think parts of the "general public" are aware of the fact that clock frequency is not a good measure for computational speed anymore. Other parts of the general public don't even read the spec sheet. If there's a glowing apple on the back, it must be fast. Also, el jobso said it is.

You have twisted the spirit of my post. The comparison is not a P4 single-core, too hot for a laptop (even the P4-M variants were too hot, IMO) CPU vs. a C2D, but rather TWO C2D chips which to the consumer are identical, but whose transition would require going backwards in CPU specs, even if the new chips are faster because of a new architecture. I also mentioned the fact that the Intel IGP may be a sticking point because they do not fair as well in performance as the current 9400M (this has been pointed out by many people).

BTW, I deal with technology and the "general public" on a daily basis, and they do not understand that clockspeed does not equate to computational speed. Only technogeeks (I would include myself here, so not meant derogatorily) who follow the latest trends and news really seem to understand many of the factors involved in a computer's computing power.

I respectfully disagree. My custom built i7 PC is more powerful than a Mac Pro of twice it's price, and the construction is on par if not exceeding. My operating system is arguably better depending on your context.

I was referring to Vaio laptops though :) When it comes to laptops, it's tough to beat a MacBook overall...hence why I'm waiting to buy another.

Desktop wise true you can destroy a mac on paper. But again I was referring to luxury not performance. You can buy a $5000 rice rocket and spend another 10k and make it a ridiculously fast vehicle.

A 50k new Lexus might not be as fast, but its nice.

I bet there are a few select persons with a timetable like the one you presented. (a very select few)

Having built my own PCs, I seriously doubt your homebuilt rig is even in the same galaxy as a Mac Pro as far as construction quality is concerned.

And a Honda Civic with a nitrous kit could stomp a BMW of twice its price, so I'm not sure what your point is. ;)

EDIT: What rmbrown09 said. :)

You obviously don't have as high of standards for components as me.

I compared performance, style (which is a matter of opinion), and construction quality... not just performance. Your analogy is no where in the same galaxy as my comparison.

Perhaps I should present my parts list. Let me fetch it.

Pepare for battle

I considered my audience, and decided to let you continue believing that no PC can be built with equal or surpassing quality to a 1 year old Mac Pro. Though, I doubt you've actually spent a lot of time researching and comparing components if you truly feel that way.

The laptops on the other hand... yeah, they're tough to beat.

Carry on.

updates MBP to Sweden

Hi, newbie Swede here. (If) and when updates re MBPs are available i the US, when are the updates available in Sweden?:)

Hi - when the MBP will be updated, it will be worldwide. I think you might have to wait top few days more than a US customer for the delivery - but not necessarily, after all they come from China.

Speaking of which, why do the current iMacs i7 ship earlier to US customers than European ones?

a nice case is only $100 or so

On a somewhat related note, will Best Buy offer the cheapest/competitive prices for MacBooks or am I better off purchasing directly from the Apple store or elsewhere?

Since this would be my first MacBook purchase, I'm clueless as to where to go. Normally I get everything at NewEgg and was surprised that they don't sell MacBooks now, especially when I'm pretty sure that they used to. :p

Lol, this won't happen unless they are clearing out the old models.

Apple products pricing are all same wherever you go and anytime... they never go on sales but only the BB or offer like free printer or get printer for $40 if you get Macbook Pro from them. Price on the Apple product remains the same.

So get new Apple products sooner or later doesn't matter.

Best place to buy a Macbook is Apple's official Refubished section in the online store (given enough time for a new line to appear in it).

About 15% discount on latest line, 25% and more on previous generations.

I don't think he was referring to components. Sure you can buy nice components for your own system but have you seen the innards of the new Mac Pro's? No wires in sight, easy access to RAM, HDD, and expansion slots. Seriously the interior is as clean looking as the exterior.

If you have achieved this with your home built PC I would love to see it.

Obviously I have higher standards than you, as I can't find anything satisfactory despite many untold hours of research.

Please show me a single DIY PC enclosure in the same league as the Mac Pro in either looks or construction quality. (Yes, I'm familiar with everything Antec offers - and no, none of them are Mac Pro quality.)

It's hard to find anything even as well-built as my old acrylic PowerMac G4 case.

If you have achieved this with your home built PC I would love to see it.

As would we all.

the first picture i think is defo for new macbook pros
6 mobile computer, apple, 6 being, 2 13 inch, 3 15 inch, 1 17 inch, but when they say march 14th, they're just guessing dates rnt they? cos they dont pre announnce stuff, +they get the new stuff 1-2 weeks after it comes out, so mabey they will be released march 2nd or something

Thanks for the info, if Best Buy offers a package deal in the future I might opt that route then. :D

Pepare for battle

Lol i's "prepare for battle" and why dont you create a new thread regarding building high quality PCs. It may even get interesting as to how theses machines will challenge the MacPro (which IMHO could easily be beaten these days both in the looks and specs department)

Leave this for MBP rumours.

Ok, Fair Enough.

I have an awesome looking, more powerful PC that's more satisfactory to me than the Mac Pro I was previous using at work (I use an iMac now). You had to spent $800 more to be equally as satisfied.

I'm not sure how either of us loses, other than superficially, so lets just agree to disagree.

Please show me a single DIY PC enclosure in the same league as the Mac Pro in either looks or construction quality. (Yes, I'm familiar with everything Antec offers - and no, none of them are Mac Pro quality.)

What is the significance of Antec in this? If you believe they are the gods of PC enclosures, I stick with my original statement.

as would we all

I have my doubts that it would make a difference.

Expercom

Thanks for the info, if Best Buy offers a package deal in the future I might opt that route then. :D

Without advertising for a particular company, I like expercom.com because they will upgrade RAM/HD for less and discount AppleCare as well. Only a fool buys a laptop without an extended warranty, so getting AC for $150 off, as well as more RAM for cheap, is a good deal. Add in 1 cent shipping and no up front tax unless you live in Utah, and it's a good deal.
