If mine ships and delivers as scheduled, it will arrive on Valentine's day. While I have hated the wait, I like to think of it as an I love you from apple. :D

Couldn't wait any longer. Ordered from Amazon this morning. No tax and getting it tomorrow were better incentives than edu discount. I've got 16gb of RAM on the way too.

It should be a great weekend!

Your faith is amazing. There's as much evidence supporting it coming out early as there is being pushed back :)

Exactly right, except that the amount of evidence either way is...

NONE WHATSOEVER!

In fact, although some products have taken longer than Apple's guess-timates to reach the customers (think 2.5 GHz liquid-cooled G5s) the vast majority arrive within their allotted time-frames.

So, I'm ready to change this thread's title to "The Official "kvetching while waiting for my Mac Pro with 8800GT to ship" thread...

who's with me? ;)

Add me to the list

I pulled the trigger on this last night:

MP 2.8GHz Octo, 8800GT, 10GB RAM (2GB-stock, 8GB-OWC), 1.82TB (320GB-stock, 2x750GB from NewEgg), Dell 2407WFP-HC.

Apple.com states that it won't ship until 2/22/2008 and that it should be delivered on or around my birthday (2/26). I think that once they start shipping, the backlog will go down quickly and I should get mine a week or two after the first orders were put in.

I am just very excited to get the new baby and put my normal beating on it (which my old MBP couldn't handle).

So you're saying that everyone who bought a Mac Pro with an 8800GT will get it around their ship date, even those who have March ship dates? That if Apple does receive the cards the first week of February (regardless of whether you believe the evidence is true or not), and Apple ships on the week of Valentines Day (a what if), that Apple will hold those cards until March so as to satisfy the ship dates? Is this what you are suggesting (I've been reading your posts not just here but in other threads)?

I disagree entirely. When the cards become do become available, it may take Apple about a week to ship them all, but all of them will most likely go out around the same time frame. I don't think nVidia is going to send a batch of 10 here and a batch of 10 there and trickle the Mac Pros out... I think there will be a massive shipment and Apple will satisfy all the orders.

No, that's not what I'm saying.

What I'm saying is that everyone (well, I say everyone but it's mostly you) is talking about delays. Where this misses the point is that there have been no delays yet. And until Apple misses their original shipping estimates (and emails customers to explain the situation) there are no delays.

You've built a mountain of "ifs" that doesn't even amount to a mole-hill of facts and I'm getting seriously bored with your drivel.

I'm pulling blanks here, man... I mean seriously. When I talk about delays, I talk about the MacBook Air, which has been delayed a few days, Apple TV, which has been delayed a couple weeks, 10.5.2... let's not go there. I'm sorry that's boring you. And my theory in that thread I started a couple weeks ago. T'was a theory, my friend. A theory. Not pertaining to reality. You need to calm/tone/bring it down here, buddy. Have someone give you a hug. Everything.... is.... going... to... be... ok.

You still hardly answered my question. You instead went off on me with my boring "drivel".... I guess you're talking about everyone here. I think we're all sort of getting tired of the wait on the 8800GT, even though it's in the 3-5 week thread, but that doesn't mean we can't vent. And why again are you looking into this thread if you're "bored" with it?

 I'm pulling blanks.

Yea, I can appreciate that. I'd hate it too if someone came barging into my living-room, driveling on about things I didn't agree with.

Too bad this is not a forum where one can choose what to read..

I personally like this thread, regardless of the different theories suggested related to the 8800GT. Nothing wrong with a little hope of them being shipped out sooner. I'm sitting on day 23, I believe, of my wait and have pretty much accepted the fact that my Mac Pro will not ship out until Feb. 15. But in the meantime, this thread keeps me informed to some extent and I'll know when they start shipping them because of the folks involved in this thread.

I think I check this thread maybe 2 or 3 times a day along with my Apple account to see if they're shipping off.

I must be with stupid then.

I never got morons that have to TELL people that they are ignoring them..

"HEY! I'm ignoring you! I'm cool!"

:) Oh well, the world sure is subjective, and I'm sure he's having a great time as the king smart-ass of his world.

As you may recall I had decided to 'ef' the waiting and order w/ the 2600 card with the intention of upgrading later on. My ATI rig shipped out this morning, so you can all rest assured the 8800's will release within the week, if not today. They're probably shipping them as I type this. Oh.. I know they are.

I bailed this morning too. The Amazon $150 rebate on the stock 2.8 Octo pushed me over the edge. Add the $200 sales tax savings and it was a no-brainer. It'll be here on Feb 6.

When I add the 8800GT in a month or so, I'm still ahead by $200. More RAM! :D

It's getting so tempting to cancel my order and just go pick up a standard one and upgrade later.

But I'll hold out, I think.

This is a test in strength. haha

Ha, no kidding... I almost buckled and just bought one from Amazon, but then I found out you can't return the Mac Pro for an exchange at the Apple Store. *@&#! I'll just wait it out, I reckon.

I'm not gonna give up my spot in line for the 8800 GT... if you try to order this thing seperate, you're going to lose priority to everyone who ordered it BTO. I think Apple was quoting 5-7 weeks ordering it seperately.

what's a couple more weeks right? I ordered on the day of release, so it Apple's ship date holds true, I have less than two weeks to wait. I think I can handle that...:)

Well, it serves 2 purposes. First, it's actually a courtesy to the ignoree (is that a word? it is now!) as it saves them the trouble of spouting any more BS. Secondly, it usually pulls out a few more deserving candidates.

See ya! (or rather, not!)

I placed my order for a 4GB RAM set with OWC same day (Jan 16) as I ordered my Mac Pro. Ironically the memory is here while the Mac Pro is still no where near the horizon. Shipping date is still Feb 22, and expected delivery by Feb 28. At least it is 1 day less now. :D

In the mean time I may go get a MacBook Pro to stand by...

Anyone beat my outlandish in-transit-estimate by the way?

Shipped by. Feb 20th.
Delivered by Mar 4th.

That's a slow delivery if so.. hehe

How is it that you ordered days after me (1/16) and yet you have the same delivery day?

I just tried to change my order but I guess that delays shipment again.
