The "waiting for my Mac Pro with 8800GT to ship" thread..

I ordered mine yesterday! (Germany)
Shipping is expected within 2-4 weeks.

And I´m already inpatient. :eek:
 
I guess I'll add my name to the list. I have no qualms waiting, however.

If money is a factor, you could consider a Dell monitor. (Or another non-Apple-manufacturer of course.) I have a Dell WFP 2407 and love it. ACDs are a little pricey for my taste and they don´t offer any extras like additional inputs or a built-in USB-Hub.
 
Waiting is really killing! Orderd my MP dual 3.0 with airport and 8800GT on friday. Thought shippingtime was about 305 days, but it came out to be WEEKS!!! Aaah!!
Anyway, apple store now says 2-4 weeks. So I'll wait and count the days... Does anyone have any clue about a shipping-date?

Just a guess - maybe you ordered right before they reduced the wait time from 3-5 weeks to 2-4 weeks? I would imagine you're still ahead in the queue.

Just took myself off the waitlist. Realized that for some reason Apple's wireless keyboard has no numberpad, so since I was canceling and reordering for that I decided to go with the ATI 2600XT and order my NVIDIA card separately. I'm crossing my fingers that there is no incompatibility between these cards for when I need 4 monitors for installations.
 
in the UK, ordered 2.8, 2600xt, 2gb, 320gb, wi-fi, wireless mouse early thursday morning (17th) with 5 days estimated shipping, received today monday (21st) even though initial expected delivery date was this friday the 25th, from my experience i know their dates aren't gospel, but thought i'd share the experience for anyone else waiting. btw, they used TNT

I ordered my Mac Pro yesterday. These are its specs:

2.8 GHZ (8 core)
two superdrives
NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT
500GB Hard Drive
2 GB RAM

30" Apple Cinema Display

The Mac Pro is said to ship by late Feb. to early March. Can't wait to play Crysis!!!:apple::):apple:
 
I'm off the list.. I've been waiting for a while for the MP revision and have some projects that I really wanted to start in Logic so I canceled my order and picked up a 'stock' 2.8 ghz 8 core MP at a local Apple store over the weekend.

This thing is freaking awesome!! When the 8800GT's are in stock I'll pick one up and Ebay the 2600HD...
 
new to the forum and new to the mac :)

i've ordered it in europe so i'll probably wait a bit more...
standard 2×2,8ghz, 2×1+2×1 RAM, 320+750GB(WD caviar) disk and of course 8800GT (GTA4's gonna come soon :D )
i'm mainly gonna use it for audio tho... i've heard the compatibility with older plugins is ****** with leopard.. i really hope the waves package works on 10.5 since i plan to switch to Logic Pro (been working on Cubase now)

its really at least 20% expensiver in europe than it is in the us. i kinda hate that.
 
Has anyone else noticed that apple has dropped the BTO Mac Pro 8800GT ship times from 3-5 weeks to 2-3 weeks? That means if I ordered it today, it would ship Feb 11. :confused:

I ordered the Mac Pro 8800GT on January 10th and they put my estimated ship time as Feb 15. I just checked again right now and they didn't bump up my ship date :(

Gah they better ship my tower out before people who order theirs today ><

Yep no trolling here.. annoying.. =(

Edit: 10 of March.. delivery 13 of march. I ordered the card 9th of Jan and it said 8 days approx. Guess they meant "months". I still want it so i guess best thing to do is to forget it and it will eventually come in the spring...
 
That's it... I am done waiting.

I just cancelled my order and picked up one up from the local store with my corp discount.
I'll buy the Nvidia card later... cheers!:apple:
 
My Mac Pro is supposed to ship by Feb. 13th :rolleyes:
But, I've been waiting for 2 years, I think I can handle another month :apple:

My 12" PowerBook is starting to get nervous though, it actually sped up a little. Sorry little buddy, you are getting shoved in the corner once the one horseman of the powerocalypse comes :D
 
Couple questions:
1. Does anybody know if a BTO MP can be shipped to my local Apple store and picked up there? I'm gone a LOT and I live alone in a slightly sketchy neighborhood so I'd HATE to have this box sitting on my unprotected doorstep all day while I'm out.

2. Most everybody seems to be ordering the 2.8. Is this the sweetspot for CPU's with this new generation of MPs? I was going to get the 3.0 but I'm wondering if I'll be wasting my money. Just FYI, I'll be running Final Cut, Logic, Photoshop as my main apps.
