I've been waiting so long for this new gen, then Apple raised the prices so much, it was a real jerk move. I don't recognize Apple anymore.

Ok, I joined this forum last Monday when I ordered The New Macbook Pro 2016 w/o touch bar. This will be my first apple product....

So Apple hired a PR firm in the Netherlands?

Pro tip: criticism is necessary to make things better.

http://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/compare_cpu-intel_core_i7_7500u-652-vs-intel_core_i7_6567u-586
Looks like the HD 620 is winning ? Also in another test (passmark)on another site the difference is 2.5% in defavor of Kaby Lkae and its 620.
Finally on G3D it seems the skylake is 55% faster.

As already mentioned those are CPU benchmarks.

I could find any Iris 550 benchmarks but the iris 540 in the non touchbar is already faster than the i7-7500u kaby lake.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Kaby-Lake-Core-i7-7500U-Review-Skylake-on-Steroids.172692.0.html

Look at the 3dmark 11 results. Iris 540 is around 40% faster. I image that Iris 550 will be >50% faster

You call better cpu and ssd improvement? I see bias.

If Apple can't figure out how to get Kaby Lake into the MacBook Pro, it looks like I'll have to take matters into my own hands.

Short drive, and it'll only take me 5 seconds to get Kaby Lake into the computer.

Hmmm...

Ever wonder how much that questionnaire Apple released about the Ports on the retina MacBook Pro in September really meant?

Could that have been the point Apple decided to keep the mid-2015 15" MacBook Pro around another cycle, and delay the all new san-Touchbar 15" rMBP with USB-C.

Was the current mid-2015 15" rMBP in the 15" lineup meant to die, with the old 13" rMBP with USB/TB2 as the sole legacy port model.

Would be rather sad and funny, if all this complaining about price and ports is happening because Apple actually gave consumers what they asked for.

And the guy talking about how Razor Blade Stealth. Louis Rossman just did a live video of Razor Blade Stealth vs Macbook Pro 13inch w/o touch bar baseline
Razor has a slightly better CPU
Macbook Pro has a much better iGPU
and
MBPr has better SSD
And a slightly better screen (in his opinion) even though Razor has a higher res screen.

You just got married.

Many people complaining in the forums have been in a relationship with Apple for years. Even though one could argue that Apple has always dictated the terms in the relationship, 'the price of agreement' and 'changes in terms have never been this drastic,' that the benefits of being in the relationship appears to serve just one party.

I think Mac Pro users have been very patient and it doesn't take a genius to know the basic demands most Pro users often request.

The whining and bitterness are simply symptoms of the relationship falling apart because their needs haven't being met

Apple fan since then....and every big overhaul on an Apple product has been just like this one....lose old ports/tech, get new ports/tech....

I understand people are upset, what I don't understand is they claim to be long term Apple fans, and yet forget how many times through the years, Apple has changed up the ports/tech we have.

And this time they are giving us the fastest ports that we can use for new and old tech with the swap of a cable or a dongle, that you can pick up from a third party manufacturer if you want.
[doublepost=1478656629][/doublepost]
Yes, because people use their laptops for work and those ports for many people are an integral component to get their job done. So I'm sure you can understand that its just about the ports per say but rather about people's ability to earn a living or get a task completed.

Or it could be that the people complaining did not buy the Mac because it did not meet the needs. So the folks who bought the Macs have astutely vetted out their needs (I would hope) and are now waiting for their new computers to arrive.

One size does not fit all, but its clear, apple really screwed up on a number of fronts and the Apple's most loyal and ardent followers are upset.

Not meeting their need...I understand....ports are all still usable with the tech they own and new tech. They just don't want to make their cable a 1/2 inch to 2 inches longer with a dongle or to replace the cable....that does not mean the ports are not usable...it means people need to get over it or go elsewhere to find what they 'need'

For the screen I have read two opinions going the opposite way.
This being said, I'm not married to the Razor (and by the way I'm more concerned about the Amazon review you -I think- posted about the coil whine issue, which sounds unacceptable), I'm using it to show you can have your cake and eat it too.
Using the excuse "because Apple" for everything is just plain wrong.
They could have shipped with better processor. they could have shipped Skylakes last year, and the better Kaby Lake this year. They could have given 16GB ram as a base.
They could have kept some of the ports, and not become a greedy dongles company (and man, it was even proven when they HAD to lower the price of their stupid dongles and screen after the backslash).
They could have not bumped the price so much.

Instead, yet again, they 'll have the highest margin ever, which in itself should make you think that maybe, probably, you're getting screwed).

Ok, I joined this forum last Monday when I ordered The New Macbook Pro 2016 w/o touch bar. This will be my first apple product and I come from a history of using Windows Machines. I have spent a lot of time reading posts on this forum. Some people have raised genuine issues, like Louis's video showing dropping of WiFi signals, the keyboard, the clicking sound that cant be turned off, or the fact they no longer add extension cable in the box. But then, there is majority of the posts complaining about the PORTS !!!!! Every day some one comes up and adds a new post complaining about the lack of ports. Then there are people that come in and complaint saying "They made no improvements, just removed the ports"
Seriously ?
SERIOUSLY !!
Better Screen, Better Sound, Better SSD,Better CPU and iGPU and better GPU in 15inch, better form factor seems like nothing to you guys ?

And then there are bunch of people posting about how they cancelled their orders or returned their Macbook Pro. The similarity in all of them, they have a recent MBPr or rMB(mostly 2015 model) , which is working perfectly for them, yet they ordered a new one, once they get it they realize they dont need it because they already have a perfectly functional machine. And then they return it and complaint about the new Macbook Pro. People saying they returned it because it lacked ports, How can you not know that before buying the machine.....

Those people who actually needed a new machine seem to be happy with their purchase, while those who did not need it or do not intend to buy it are complaining non stop
The amount of whining and complaining is really getting ridiculous on this forum. This has to be the most negative place on the Internet. Even when there is a post specifically aimed at discussing the positives of the new macbook's, some one comes in and start posting why they hate it. Everyone gets it, the machine lacks ports, I am not trying to defend the laptop here, I think apple made some stupid design decision with this particular refresh, but come on, its been 10 days since the release, everyone knows it lacks the basic ports. STOP COMPLAINING NON STOP 24/7. I would love to hear genuine issues the machine has on real problems people are facing, but every other post you open about this machine, you have people complaining non stop about the lack of ports ....
The simple solution: go to your account and move your mouse to log out. You won't have to hear nagging anymore. It's MR new feature.

I really want to know which laptop people refer to when they talk about half the price. The Closest you can get is Dell XPS 13 and HP Specter, which both are above $1000 for the above given spec (Here in netherlands, with above spec, Dell XPS 13 costs 1500 Euro and has an FHD screen, and not QHD )

That is the conclusion i came to aswell, and both machines have their own set of issues. The new rMBP is a great machine, its not perfect but as a complete package its the still the best option. However it is a worry that for the first time i actually contemplated going for a Windows based machine.

If there are 5 unhappy threads for every happy thread, have you ever considered that its not everyone else that is wrong, it is you ? Many people are NOT happy and unlike the OP, many of us have been Apple customers for years and been members here for years.

To me, neither side is wrong, but I do feel the level of whining and complaining here has gotten way out of hand.

This isn't an MCQ maths question where there is only one right answer. Whether Apple's latest MacBook Pro offering is a good product or not is going to differ from person to person. I can like a product that you dislike (and vice versa), and both of us would not be wrong.

What I do find to be extremely off-putting, however, is the degree of vitriol and acrimony that plagues these threads. The people who frequent these forums are not necessarily an accurate representation of the needs and wants of the Mac user base (which grows more diverse with each passing day), and I am not sure what these people hope to achieve by venting here, besides creating a worse browsing experience for the rest of us.

Whatever the end goal is for you people, I hope it was worth it.

I totally agree with @Abazigal. We are not here to debate about Apple's products or to fight for the product you like the most. The thing is, if you are new to the Mac devices, you should take time exploring it. This forum is full of people who are long-time fans of Apple products, also there are people who have shifted from Apple to other companies like Windows etc.
Apple fans expect their favorite manufacturing company to release their new products that consist of really new features and not the same they had been using in the older macs. So, if Apple makes them disappointed, they rush to the forum talking about their complaints. There is no negativity in it. People are just expressing their views and that's it.

Yeah I largely agree with all that. But bear in mind this is thread set-up to tell people to stop expressing their genuine opinion, dismissing it as 'whining'.

Which to be fair, is what I feel a lot of the criticism is coming across as. And it makes me as an irritated reader even less inclined to try and understand their frustrations and where they are coming from, much less empathise with their position.

To be honest I'm getting confused as to whether we agree or disagree now - its gone too meta for me to get my head around ! :)
