I decided to cancel mine too
Thinking of cancelling new M1 MacBook Pro order due to notch

So when you ordered you didn’t know about the notch?
Again the notch didnt take any screen estate from the 13.3” 16:10 aspect ratio
We gain the menu bar, until now the menu bar was part of the whole 16:10 aspect ratio.

It gives more usable screen space. If you really hate it that much, put the system in dark mode and it’s practically invisible.
Get over it, or get out of the way. Would you like a worse computer for the sake of aesthetics?

I suspect many of those cancelling their orders will ultimately realize it's not a big deal.
I'm pretty confident Apple has thought of ways to mitigate the issues for those that are more sensitive to the notch. I also believe developers will be savvy enough to best utilize the space around the notch, including hiding it completely if not needed. This was evidenced in the promotional images/videos, probably in part to reassure the notch averse. As mentioned by others, there are already settings in the accessibility menu to tweak transparency settings, apply dark mode, etc. On a laptop screen that is always in landscape, it will be even less noticeable than on the iPhone.

They should add an option in System Preferences to keep the top 74 pixels permanently black and just move the menu bar below that. So the notch-haters can have their beloved bezels once again.

Well, the old MBPs had a notch that went the entire length of the display.
That didn’t seem to bother you.

Tbf, I really liked my OHs mini.
I nearly bought a JCW but I really couldn’t put up with the rear view mirror.
It’s a ridiculous size compared the windscreen and the lost visibility really bothers me.
Conveniently. They added the notch while removing the MBP branding from the front ?️?️♂️

Exactly, just like the white bezels were added to the iMac when surprise surprise the Apple logo was removed from the front.

Personally, no. I also would like to understand why someone would order it in the first place if that notch is such a problem for them.
Then why order it, just to cancel it? They showed you what it looked like all over the internet.

the notch on the MacBook Pro makes no difference to content! all videos will still be seen the same all photos too the notch won't be in the way of those things! just play with the bar on top and black the color out.
