I'm debating this as well, although in my case I'm going from a 5s to either a 6/6s or 6 plus/s plus.

Having played around with both phones, I think I'm really after a compromise between the 2 size wise (I know, you can't please all of the people all of the time!)

Either will be better than my 5s, which is really too small for my browsing/reading usage. I've tried the Samsung s6 and 7 and think the 5.1" screen is ideal (but I don't want to leave Apple).

Choices choices......

The battery life alone is worth it. I kept finding myself using a battery case on my 6/s and finally decided if I was going to make the phone big and bulky I might as well just get the plus. The better screen and camera were a factor as well.

Now when I try to use my 6s it feels like a toy. I do miss it for running or total one handed texting but I have adapted.

I bought the 6 and 6+ at the initial release.
I sold the 6+ and bought the 6S+.
Both phones had the mophie case.
The 6S+ Won out.

The larger screen ultimately became more important than the added weight.
It fits into my front pocket easily, Levi's or dockers. But usually I carry it in my back pocket.

Both are great phones. I laugh every time my wife and I go out with other couples and she says "can you show them on your phone?"

The only issue I find frustrating is the lack of landscape support on some apps.

I got the 6 because I was afraid I could not adapt to the size of the 6 Plus. I regretted it almost immediately but I stayed with the 6.
When the 6s Plus came out, I got that. And it was easy for me to adapt.
I carry it in my purse or I put it in my wallet, which is oversized and has a large pocket for a phone. I suppose if I wore super tight jeans it would be a problem.

Thanks for the input. That is what makes me lean towards staying with the 4.7 inch, I think it is the perfect balance.

Your best bet is to get the Plus and try it out for a while. There's a two week return policy, that should be more than enough time to figure out if it's for you.

I was one of the folks upset when Apple announced the 6. I liked the 4" screen and didn't want anything any larger. But seeing the options before me, I realized the best thing to do was to get the Plus as a test. If I got the 6 (no plus), and liked it, I would never know if I would've liked the Plus more. So, I opted to get the Plus, try it for a couple of weeks, and if I couldn't get used to the size, I'd return it and get the standard 6.

It took me about 3 days to get used to the size of the Plus and I'm soooooo happy I took this route. I love my Plus. Enough so that when the 6S models came out, I upgraded to the 6S Plus. When the 7 comes out, I'll do the same, etc.

Some people like the size, some people don't. You'll never know unless you give it a fair run.

I currently have for work / home a 4S, 5, 5S, 6 and 6S+. I can't stand using the first three anymore and the 6 only gets use due to its unlimited data SIM. Even so, I choose the 6S+ 95% of the time and it gets a lot more use than the old phones did in their time. No one I know who has the big phone has gotten rid of it. And most people I know with the 6/6S regret not getting the plus.

It's just so much more usable for the things I do with a "phone" today: email and other non-voice comms, web, travel, docs, etc. As far as the physical size is concerned, it's a complete non-factor. I'll never buy another small phone... never. In fact, I could easily go bigger.

Btw you dont need an apostrophe in the word when it is simply a plural. Apostrophe is used in possessive case not plural.

Ah, what would we do without the grammar police lurking behind every corner! :) Thank you for your valuable, but probably futile, service!

I find myself still in the same position. Made a mockup of the 5.5" and I can't seem to use it that easily one-handed. But in the Apple Store I seem to be able to. I really think it may be too big, but I also know for a fact that if I don't get it this time around with the 7 and actually try it, I'll constantly be wondering what size is better. So I'm gonna get it, try it, and if I don't like it return for a 7.

I have a 6S Plus and an SE. I never did try the 6/6s sized iPhones. I think for me concerns about the battery life on that size was a concern. So far my SE battery life and 6S plus battery life seem comparable, but I've made adjustments to equalize them like using Friendly on the SE instead of the Facebook and Messenger Apps I'd been using on the 6 Plus and 6S Plus.

The Plus sized iPhone is nice to use but for some of us it's a pain to carry around. Which is why I got the SE. In the summer months I can easily tuck it into most front pockets while I garden or hike or run or take the kids to the park. I don't like to be weighed down by purses when I do activities like that and my Plus sized iPhones only really fit well in the back pocket of a select few of my jeans and shorts, usually the ones that made me look dumpy. I had enough of that. In the winter when I'm carrying purses again I'll switch the sim back into my 6S Plus.

I never really got that much extra enjoyment from the large screen real estate but I was going for the OIS and battery life. I think, though, that I'm done with being jerked around by Apple's practice of saving all its deluxe features for the largest iPhone and am pulling myself off that merry-go-round.

You just have to go with whatever makes sense for your use case.

While I understand your desire to gather information regarding the two phone sizes and benefits. It's next to impossible for someone else's opinion to truelly make a difference to you. Only way is to try the Plus and see if it works for you.
I chose the plus and love the screen, also for my older eyes I like the larger format. With that said I find myself remembering smaller 5s with fond memories due to it's size. However I don't think I can give up the battery life and screen size of the plus. So I live with the larger size.
One thing I found necessry with the plus is to have either Apple leather or silicone case on it. With the case I find I can use it one handed. The bare phone is just too slippery. Good luck with your choice.

Hello everybody! So I'm currently typing this from my iPhone 6 which I've had since August of last year. I seriously love this phone, screen size is excellent, really enjoy it, and yeah everything just works great and I'm extremely happy with it.
That being said, I've been considering lately whether I would like a Plus even more. From the few times I've played around with one in the Apple Store, I surprisingly was able to reach quite a bit one handed. My question is, do you think it would be worth it to upgrade to a Plus from the 6? I'm probably gonna wait till the iPhone 7 comes out before I buy, but just trying to make up my mind on size so I know. Also I should mention that I have an Air 2 so I'm not looking for a tablet replacement, just considering it for the larger screen.
Has anyone switched to a Plus from the 4.7" and how did you like it? Should I upgrade to the Plus? Id appreciate any opinions.
Thanks!

Well, there there are these to consider:

One thing that really influences my decision is whether I can use it one handed. To all the Plus users here: can you use your Plus one handed and do you? Is it comfortable or just totally impractical to even try it?

I have and do use my Plus one handed but it must have Apple leather or silicone case on it to do so. Otherwise I find it too slippery. This is one of the toughest things to come to grips with. No pun intended. It took me longer than two weeks to adapt from a 5s. So the two week Apple trial period tends to not be enough time in my opinion.

Now I couldn't go down to smaller screen. Have seen a number of people going back and forth several times.

Edit: Sorry if this is redundant. Just relized I answered before.

I started on the 6 and then sold it and got the 6Plus. I love the screen and the size of it, yes the compromise is the size of the phone but its worth it for me.

Out of my family and friends its only like 3 of us that have a Plus.

I dont really use my iPad nearly as much anymore, its more comfortable in bed then an iPad.

I went from a 6 to a 6+ late last year. I haven't looked back. I do have small hands so it's hard to one-hand text sometimes but I rarely do that anyways. I mainly switched for the improvement in battery life. But now I am looking into the 6S+ as that has band 12 LTE.

Thinking of the 6s plus as well, but most likely will wait for the 7 plus.

Stick with the 6 Plus. I downgraded from the 6S Plus to the 6 Plus. I like the lighter weight and smaller size of the original. Also the original has better sound.

Having used a Nexus 6 that is far thicker than the 6s+ but roughly the same size, I can say that if I get the next iPhone, I will get the Plus. The big screen was always a huge draw for me on the Plus, but like a lot of others, I decided to play it safe and get the 6 on launch day instead. I started to regret it about 3 months in and I figured that for the next phone I got I'd get a bigger phone. I got a 5.2" Moto X and that still wasn't big enough for me. Later in 2015, I picked up a Nexus 6 with a 6" display. It is a tiny bit too large, but I love it a lot and could never go to any phone below 5.5" again. The Plus size is just a little more manageable than the Nexus 6, so Plus size iPhone it is for my next one.
