This year and last year have been the smoothest pre-orders for me. Bought two phones, in and out of the app in 2 minutes with Apple Pay. It does sound like their upgrade program process has some kinks to be worked out though.
I get we all have a right to whinge about things that we aren't happy about. But to get so upset over getting a phone a few weeks later than you wanted shows a real lack of perspective.First world problems is a stupid philosophy. Apple screwed up with a bad launch for a sub-par phone.
or the supply was low
I'd argue that the preorder for the 4 was much, much worse. I was online trying to order for several hours, only to have the process fail at various points along the way, and ended up having to get a reservation and wait in line for 6 hours on launch day.
Combine that with the fact that the widely-touted white version (on which I had my heart set) was unavailable for preorder (or even for several months after launch) and that one takes the prize for worst preorder ever, IMO.
I've preordered 5, 6, 6s, and the original Apple Watch. Got them all on launch day. You're def thinking wrong.Only way OP could think this is if it was their first preorder experience. There is no comparison between this pre order and 6 and watch pre orders.
The funny thing about me saying that is that I ordered Jet Black Plus this go round and it doesn't seem like that was available launch date at all. Both the 6 Plus and the watch I got on launch day and still count those experiences as far worse than this one.
Then you should know that this was no where near the worst.I've preordered 5, 6, 6s, and the original Apple Watch. Got them all on launch day. You're def thinking wrong.
Yes, for the 5S there were no pre-orders (though there were for the 5C). I managed to get one on the Saturday of launch weekend (just as I did with the iPhone 5) by arriving at a store that coincidentally had just gotten a shipment in.And the 5s launch was no picnic, either--no preorders available, period. I wanted the gold 64GB until I saw it in person and ended up canceling for silver, only to see the ship date shoot out to the end of October, so I canceled that one once order-for-store-pickup became an option. I remember waking up at like 3 am most nights for a few weeks to check that inventory-crawler site that was launched to help people track down anywhere that various colors/sizes might be in stock. I think I finally got hold of the one I wanted around mid-October and had to drive to south FL to get it.
And you've been a forum member here since 2005, so you've surely seen the threads from the iPhone 5, 6, 6s and the original Apple watch launches from people who DIDN'T get them on launch day.I've preordered 5, 6, 6s, and the original Apple Watch. Got them all on launch day. You're def thinking wrong.
I managed to remove the 2 i don't want!Me too! I have 3 phones on order as well. This was the worst pre-order process I've ever done and I've done a lot of iPhone pre-orders.
With every other preorder in previous years, if you stayed up until 12:01 and ordered within 5-8 minutes, you were guaranteed to get your toy on launch day. This year, it was a total disaster.
Mad beyond belief.

"We've reached saturation point."

Don't you just love this time of the year?![]()
Almost same situation here in 2014. Two iPads, two iPhones (AT&T and Verizon), one laptop and one desktop (and had both Chrome and Firefox open on the PCs). Finally, at around 3AM Pacific, I was able to get through but I just received a message telling me I've reserved a place in line and that I'll receive an email with instructions and a link so I can actually place my order.that's because you didn't know what happened for ip6.
i got ready before 11.50 and didn't get to open the page until like 3.30 pacific time. i used 3 phones+2 iPads under both ATT and Tmobile cellular, and 3 computers under gigabit ethernet. so you tell me which is the worst

This one's a breeze in comparison. Fell asleep and woke up around 5ish and was still able to order a iP7 ATT Black 256GB for 9/16 delivery from Apple website (new IUP). Around 7-8ish, saw the Verizon trade-in promo and decided to trade in my other iP6 for another iP7 Black 256GB from VZW website, again scheduled for 9/16 delivery.
