won't remember this day, probably won't remember the day the bug fix 11.1 comes out either even though I'm waiting for that day to come before installing this. maybe 11.2 or 11.3 even depending on how many problems this massive beta test causes.

I would argue that title belongs to Coca Cola. If you visit the Coca Cola Museum in Atlanta, Georgia, the whole premise of that place is "Here's some sugar water we marketed the hell out of. It's worked out real well for us. Here, have a sample!". OTOH, it helps the products they sell are 1) comparatively MUCH cheaper ($1 bottle of coke easily falls into impulse buy territory) and 2) how their products are literally addicting (sugar and caffeine will do that ;)), so I'd have to revisit this post and say Apple's certainly got some unique tricks up their sleeves.

Remember, Apple recruited one of those "sugar-water salespeople" and kicked Jobs out.

It's embarrassing and tacky to call it a "day to remember" when it's so close to 9/11.

Tim Cook repeats hyperbole constantly. he's been doing it for years, even before becoming CEO. it's completely unbelievable and comes accross as fake marketing because of how ridiculous his statements are.

From "we have the greatest pipeline in years" (remember that, year after year without anything major released). to talking up things as "the best" or "day to remember!"

Tim. Stick to what you're good at, and it's not talking up apple

Honestly I can't stand Tim Cook. He's just so full of it. Magical, unbelievable, revolutionary, amazing, huge. I feel like he thinks we're dumb or something. Face ID is nothing new. A phone with edge to edge screen is nothing new. iPhone X does not have a "Value Price". Then he says monthly payments is how people get iPhone X. Clearly if people keep upgrading phones, you're kind of throwing money away since you never own the product. Apple is just not the same.

Tim is reminding me of the hucksters on late night TV. Buy it now, only $9.99 plus Shipping and Handling. Get a second one free, only pay Shipping and Handling. Of course the S&H was three times the cost of the original product. Maybe he's like the car salesmen who say "Only $199 a month" even though the payments may run up to seven years. Focusing on the monthly payment is a disingenuous way of hiding that the product you are selling would be seen as very expensive if one looked at the total cost.

I didn't watch the interview. Was Tim able to suppress his smirk as he used the word "value" in conjunction with a $1,000 base price device with only 64GB memory? The iPhone X has gone beyond the realm of a premium product straight into being a luxury good. It has been referred to multiple times as an "aspirational product". The iPhone X's primary value is in its exclusivity. A fairly large number of people will pay a high price to be the first to possess the latest and greatest device regardless of how much better it is than the competition. The utility of the device, while certainly top notch, doesn't approach the $300 price premium over the iPhone 8 which has many of the same features outside of the display and camera, or over the Samsung Galaxy S8 which is functionally extremely similar.

I've grown SICK and tired of him. He should've been gone a long time ago. Along with Ive. I just saw an article on 9to5Mac today that iOS 11 has some glaring UI mistakes and it's made me wonder since Craig was in charge of iOS development, who is exactly to blame. I'm wondering if he got pressured to get it out the door and mistakes got made, OR Cook/Ive didn't notice them and 'greenlighted' it. So Ive's in charge of iOS design along with Marketing, but Craig is part of its development. And everything ends up at Cook's desk for final approval ( ie. thumbs up or thumbs down ).

Someone high up on the chain screwed up. This could end up as another 'Maps' fiasco leading to another head being rolled.

I would be very surprised if Tim Cook did QA on all their products :).

Seems like many people are too short sighted to see the significance of ARKit.

Agreed. I've been working with for the past 2 months and the potential is incredible. I've worked on a project with some animation designers importing their 3D models into SceneKit and ARKit and it's endless possibilities.

Enlighten us! Besides showing cute dinosaurs in your living room like Pokemon, what would it be good for? (I'm genuinely asking, not trying to be snarky)

He really wanted to shake the lady's hand real bad in the beginning.

Gentleman, you know. Much worse: She touched his knee!
...and no one showed any reaction!

Assume the opposite: The male presenter touched the knee of a female guest. THIS would have been a day to remember. Months of television live feeds in court, a destroyed male tv presenters life, 100 Million $ for her and so on. But this way it appears to be ok...

Comparatively, iPhone functionality to that of the Samsung S8, and the Note8 for that matter (closer price-wise) is not even close.

That grand buys you a LOT more functionality than just a bigger (for iPhone at least) screen if you go Sammy.

Apple removes, not adds, functionality with every iteration.

I bet the next iPhone will be missing the charge jack too, now that inductive charging is in place and their coffers are still filling up with tons of "courage" money. ;)

Angela Ahrendts is at Apple for a reason. Apple is a luxury brand where cachet matters more than anything else.

In this thread: people reacting to Tim Cook being excited for an OS launch with a super negative attitude.
Booooo he should hate iOS 11!

Thats not the issue. In the past the technology spoke. Now Cook seems to think that him speaking is the important part. I really think he is trying really hard to cover up bad press, which in the end is a losing game.
