From the guy who doesn’t buy apps or have kids. It’s hitting educational apps and kids games the hardest. If you’d paid thousands for these you’d be pissed to. Some of the school apps are $170 upfront then you pay yearly to use them too. I don’t think that’s exactly crying over spilled milk but again you obviously have neither: purchased apps or kids Just sayin”

Maybe you should raise the issue with the app developers since you paid THEM $170.

A day to remember?
More like a day in infamy given how he's trying to spin it.

I'm not going to dismiss the milestone of a major update of an OS. However, I just don't get the fanfare anymore. Maybe I'm getting old (in tech years)... I remember being more excited about upgrades like to Windows XP, and less so with Windows 7 (it was nice doing so eventually, but that "eventually" would be years later). Ditto with ios3 to ios4 on my Ipod Touch 3 (since ios4 was when you can create folders), and when Game Center came out (it was interesting for a bit, but "meh". TBF, I'm sure devs liked it as a universal platform that they didn't need to implement themselves).

Just like killing off the ability to perform our own FREE backups (including apps) on our computer forcing everything to the cloud where now on a 512GB iPad you’re going to pay because 5GB free doesn’t cut it

That's shocking considering that I did my own backup this morning with iTunes in anticipation of the OS update today.

A day to forget: Apple pay still not available in Brazil...Apple Watch LTE won't launch here.

Blame your government for it's insane policies toward tech?

Well I can assure ya one thing dude you sure as hell didn’t update and back up your apps because that button and it’s store are toast. So I don’t know what kind of backup you call that but you will not be using that for a clean install I ca assure you that. You WILL be using iCloud and your WIFI. Thats a fact

Because it won't work for those who haven't upgraded their devices for a couple of years. I'll be honest, i was kind of excited about the ruler feature when it was demoed. But then I learned iphone 6 is too old a device to support arkit. Yes, two years is all takes for an apple processor to go from he fastest thing in he world that can compete with a laptop to a turtle. Meanwhile my haswell laptop is still able to do everything a modern CPU does...

the iPhone 6 is plenty capable. Apple just decided not to give ARKit to iPhone 6 owners.

Apple always had the best marketing in the business. Whether or not the product is useful is another story.
I would argue that title belongs to Coca Cola. If you visit the Coca Cola Museum in Atlanta, Georgia, the whole premise of that place is "Here's some sugar water we marketed the hell out of. It's worked out real well for us. Here, have a sample!". OTOH, it helps the products they sell are 1) comparatively MUCH cheaper ($1 bottle of coke easily falls into impulse buy territory) and 2) how their products are literally addicting (sugar and caffeine will do that ;)), so I'd have to revisit this post and say Apple's certainly got some unique tricks up their sleeves.

iOS 11 is pretty unexciting for the most part.

I like the new one-handed keyboard for Plus models so I don’t have to bother with third-party apps.

The new Siri voices are impressive. But they don’t work with text-to-speech in Safari.

They took away some nice live wallpapers and added some boring static ones.

I can’t think of anything much else of note, so hardly an amazing new version.

I want the drugs Tim Cook must be on to call it a day to remember!

My 2 cents:

1. Tim's not going anywhere. Apple is making more money than the one upstairs under his command, so at some point we'll all have to come to peace with it.

2. We should all be used to Apple marketing hyperbole by now. Buy something else (I did) and be happy until Apple starts to give us what we want (or someone else does).

I have a IP6+ running iOS 9.3.5 and it's running great. Zippy. Never crashes. Everything works. Great battery life.

Learn from that.

Goodbye to my favorite hidden 32-bit SNES emulator app, Remote Files, pulled from the app store years ago...sniff.
