Sounds like you're going to have a very Apple year. :)

Can't wait for the new AppleTV. I really think Apple is correct on the Apps angle and if developers take off with it (which I would think they will) this could be a huge product for them in the long run.

Yah the watch will be my Christmas present to me. The MacBook Pro will be 2016.

I'm a bit stressed about learning it though. I played with it at the store for a few minutes and I got hopelessly lost. Granted it was only for about five minutes but it was very foreign to me.

I hope this sells well. It's market share that matters. Apple certainly doesn't need the revenue.

Having taken so long, I know lots of people at work gave up waiting and bought something else.

Set-top box is so 2010. In 2015 you can buy Smart TV that comes with apps and you need zero cables. If you want to play then connect PS4.

Apple is getting really tired when they release stuff like this. They used to innovators now they re-release old technology. I had first set-top box in 1982.

Who has a good reason for the 64GB over the 32GB?

Apple limits Apple TV apps to 200MB max. Anything over that needs to be downloaded as a temporary file. Even with say 8GB for temp files and another 8GB for the OS, that still leaves 16GB for apps which means you can store 80 of them. Are you really going to need to store 240 apps rather than 80 (and you'll just use 5 of them while the others have been used once according to studies of iOS usage habits).

Hence why I'm going for the 32Gb, my internet is good enough to stream

Forgive what may be a stupid question (or perhaps one with an unknowable answer), but do any of you very knowledgeable folks know when these will be available at Best Buy?
Thanks!

I just don't get it
I watch Netflix and rent iTunes movies and use AirPlay and iCloud music library for music
Why would I need or even just 'want' to upgrade to this?
Especially since the old perfectly capable model is now only just $69
It isn't our job to talk you into it. When you're ready, you'll know.

It seems as though you are not yet ready. Please don't reevaluate until after I get mine, in case they're in short supply.

Most suprising was that it didn't do 4K, given that the iPhone 6s does and they belong to the same platform. Apple has even acknowledged that people likely want to play iPhone content on their Apple TV, so... what gives? That fact, as well as where TV's are heading now, makes it just seem more than natural to release a 4K capable Apple TV in late 2015.

Also disappointing is that the Siri remote is only included in 10% of the launch countries, again misaligning with the rest of their iOS platform, Apple TV's Siri not supporting numerous Siri empowered languages in iOS. How hard is it to add support for the limited scope of commands the Apple TV understands? To the languages you already support? Very odd, once again.

So, objectively, I don't think the new Apple TV is a good release. It's an odd release and it's a necessary release, but it's not a great one.

I will still get it though. The Siri-less, 4K less new Apple TV. Just because of the App Store. I've longed for it for so long. It opens up so many possibilities for me. Yes, I could get better value for money with another device, and I don't think the Apple TV is the best one. But if you happen to play within the iOS platform, it's a different ball game. As usual.

This is the least excited I have been for any Apple product. The have to prove to me they will actually have content before I will buy. My current ATV is collecting dust, and has been for a long time now.
apple doesn't really need to "prove" anything. You don't need this is you're not using your old one. I use mine daily. I'm excited about the new feature. No dust for me.

Its an attempt to keep folks from drinking the Kool-aid. What is the compelling reason for buying this Apple-TV..Is it any more compelling then say the new rechargeable magic mouse?
Huh? What Kool-aid? It's a product that some will want and others won't. Just because you don't want it doesn't mean others won't want it. I want it. And I don't like Kool aid.

Someone has convinced you that you need to go around crying "wolf" in order to save everyone from themselves, as though you're the only one who can think for yourself.

I don't need or want the Magic Mouse, and I'm not getting one. I want the Apple TV, and I will get that.

I don't see a good reason to buy the 64GB. The Apple TV is at home, always connected to the network so who cares if you need to download a movie a second time or you have to download a level of your game because you run out of space?
Maybe 64GB can be handy if you have a really poor connection or if you use the Apple TV on vacation in an house without an internet connection, but for most users this is not the case

Yep, and the environemnatl impact of that is zero. Brilliant.
Better to retire that beast than have it burning 150w at idle to serve media. And if you're going to retire it, then recycling is an improvement on binning it.
I'm just trying to be helpful. If your electricity costs anything like it does here, then you'll make a nice saving in the process.

It's not a phone. You don't upgrade it. You buy one if you want one or don't have one. People have TVs in every room these days. It's simply. Nicer interface for accessing internet based content. But now it has apps/games and also Siri search, better remote etc. I guess they should just quit making better products because you have one that suits you just fine.
