OP your phone is obviously bent.
The 6 bends and you can get another one but you'll just have to be super careful in the future. I've never seen any other non-iphone that has this problem.

I have noticed that most of them being bent, have slim cases. You should be able to have any case you want, not blaming anyone for that. Mine (6+) is in an otterbox like case and i have sat on it and it's perfectly fine. Yeah Apple should have made it a little more indestructible, but for as much as I paid for the phone, every case I will own will be like Fort Knox.

Actually bottom of the list was the HTC One M8, one of the most well assembled Android phones, and the list was made of a whoppy 5 phone models. Impressive.

Went yesterday to the Apple Store to check the new iPhones. Of all displayed iPhones only one 6 was bent, not bad

You can guarantee that was bent by a customer "seeing how easily it bends"....I am surprised that only one in the store was bent, given how this saga is like an invitation to test it, on someone else's phone of course.

It does concern me that this is happening. I do believe the OP. I have both the 6 and 6+ with Apple care plus. After seeing the new iPad Air 2, I am wondering if it will have the same problem. I am looking to buy a large iPad but am holding off to see if there's a problem also.

It's quite difficult to sit on an iPad....

Not magic...If your pants are tight...even a little, the phone is under a little pressure..Even if your pants are comfortable, they will get a little tight when you bend down...for e.g., tie your shoe laces. Now the previous generation of iPhones were able to resist this pressure (I had quite a few of those)...this generation apparently can't OR this is a manufacturing defect.

Something happened. What? It seems like you should be able to figure out what it was. A bend like that is not trivial. It didn't "just happen." There was some singular event that caused it. There had to be. How did you bend it?

That is exactly the point. The phone didn't bend by itself. The owner bent it.

That is the only other possible explanation, other than user's fault (which is the most probable in most of the cases).
But phones doesn't bent by themselves, unless someone demonstrate me he can bend an iPhone just putting in his front pocket.

What the opinions are in article have no bearing as they are not qualified to make an opinion IMO. If they were engineers I would put more weight in their opinions. They only part that is valid is the quantitative tests they performed.


I do agree that the sample size was lacking and for more accurate results more phones and types of phones would be required.

Of the 4 or So devices that they did test, the iPhone 6 was at the bottom with the HTC. These finding are consistent with the increase in reports of bending of the new iphones. Did apple go to far? I have no clue, what i do know is I would treat my iphone 6/6+ with more care than any other smartphone that I have ever had.

So when I got my ip6 common sense told me not to put there because its bigger and the pressure could break it. Ive used a horizontal belt case for all my phones since the 4 cause of common sense. A coworker shattered his Note3 screen by keeping it in his back pocket and sitting on it. The dude doesn't have s lick of common sense.

I bent it by using it just like I used my iPhone 5 for 2 years. It was in my front pocket, I went to visit my grandparents for a birthday dinner, and when I got home I noticed it rocked back and forth when I set it down. What am I supposed to do, keep it in my hand all day? A phone is meant to be used, and part of that usage is putting it in your pocket.

Completely agree!! My brother in law has an iPhone 5 that he put in his back pocket and its bend. I would also take your common sense a bit further. I hate belt clip as my phone always gets snagged and goes flying, I don't have a purse, and I would probably drop then phone if I had to carry in my hands all the time. For me the only solution would be an otter box like case in my front pocket. The only other way would be to have a phone designed that can withstand more force.

Based on your "common sense" the iPhone 5 I've been carrying around in my front jeans pocket for 2 years should be damaged. Hmm, nope. Looks great. Why someone wouldn't expect to use a new phone just like they've used every cell phone made over he last 15 or so years defies any sense at all...

No I never said the iPhone 5 would be broken, but it sure as hell is uncomfortable to sit with it in a shallow pocket.The 5 is shorter and thicker and the laws of physics says it can take more pressure. A longer thinner piece of wood is easier to break than a shorter thicker one. Again common sense! Apple has proven that it takes 75lbs of pressure to bend the iPhone. Obviously the op has exceeded that pressure some how.

Putting it in you pocket didn't bend, and simple being in your pocket didn't bend it.

So you must have done something and since this isn't an iPhone 5, why you expect it to be used exactly the same?
