Holy smokes. That's quite a lot to remember for something that "just works, like magic".

I also recall that bending it back is a bad idea as that can cause the screen to crack.

In any case, it would be nice if the 6 were a bit more structurally rigid, if only for peace of mind at this point.

How would the screen crack by bending it back using NORMAL USAGE techniques that bent it in the first place? That doesn't make a lot of sense.

The OP never said that his phone doesn't work anymore. Did he say that in a subsequent post? So it does just work, like magic, there is no reason for people to get so worked up by all this.

Just don't use a screen protector in case it is true that it creates extra stress on the device (i don't believe it, but it may be on the internet, so who knows?), and rotate the usage and storage of the phone. Don't you rotate your tires?

It does concern me that this is happening. I do believe the OP. I have both the 6 and 6+ with Apple care plus. After seeing the new iPad Air 2, I am wondering if it will have the same problem. I am looking to buy a large iPad but am holding off to see if there's a problem also.

Ya the iPad air should be interesting lol. Hopefully no one is trying to carry it in their pocket.

The phone still works, the concern in the bend is not only for cosmetic reasons. It raises questions in my mind in the longevity of the device.

Because of the bend, how has this affected the components inside of the iPhone? The bend may not have any sudden affects(I'm already starting to see a yellow discoloration on the left side of my screen by volume button), but what about in the long run? In a few months or even a year can you for certain tell me the bend will have no affect on the device?

Answer is No.

As regards the screen protector claim, that's the first time I heard that. But then again I haven't really looked into this topic because honestly I never cared until it happened to me.

Anyways I'll be calling apple again and will update with the results.

The Apple apologists on this site are getting worse and worse. They seem to be ones with rather recent join dates, typically are engaged in this inane Android vs iPhone mentality, and assume everyone else is too. Apple apologists hurt Apple. People will take a company less seriously when it's defended by fanatics against reason.

To the OP, call 408 996 1010 and ask for executive customer relations. Apple has over 10 different contractors providing iPhone support when you call AppleCare. You're not necessarily speaking to an Apple employee. I worked at such a contractor, and I can tell you that while they may be better than most at tech support, they're not all geniuses or up to date on Apple policy.

Is anyone keeping track of what proportion of the bent phones are 6 vs 6+? I was under the impression that it's almost exclusively a problem of the plus but then I've been seeing a number of people having problems with the smaller 6.

Well, there are a lot of things I can't answer about what will affect the device.
Will using the accelerometers a lot shake things inside the phone to the extent that solder joints become less stable? More stable?
Does the bend make the electronics more stable because of opti-flex inversions? Maybe. Maybe not.
Can scratches in the case (another cosmetic issue) affect the wifi reception by diverting a dual-pole? Maybe. Maybe not.

If your phone is working and you don't understand the engineering tolerances for the phone, it is a bit interesting to be worried about a cosmetic issue.

We could talk all day about whether or not this bend will truly affect an iPhone, but at the end of the day it comes down to this..

Would you be satisfied with an iPhone that after 1 month of normal usage physically bent?

If your answer is yes, Lets trade ;)

On another note, thanks swingerofbirch I tried calling that number but they are closed, I will call back tomorrow.

Mine is bent and it's a 6 so I can confirm it's not exclusive to the +.

Yeah, keep trying... Somewhere there was a story about them stating they would replace bent phones... but not expecting them to suddenly reverse course because you quote something on the Internet unless it's posted on the Apple corporate website.

Apple has a policy of not covering cosmetic or physical damage / flaws. I've been unsuccessful at getting them to repair or replace things that came out of the box damaged because it was considered "cosmetic" and therefore uncovered by their warranty.

I only buy items locally now from other places not owned by Apple. Reason being, is that local stores that Apple doesn't own have a 30 to 90 day no questions asked return policy. Doesn't matter why you want to return it. Even if it's broken. I've returned Apple stuff and other items to these local private stores simply because I changed my mind later, or decided I didn't like it. Local private stores have much better policies.

Stay away from Apple stores whenever you can, and buy from department stores, etc. anytime you have the option. The return policy is much better.

Something tells me that "local stores" will NOT let you return your device no questions asked in terms of physical damage. Sounds like a load of BS. Show me a website or receipt from those stores that says they'll let you return damaged goods, no questions asked. May as well steal from them, as they're going to get nothing out of it besides a shipping costs back to their wholesaler or distributor.

Hmm.... apparently you haven't discovered the benefit of buying Apple devices at large department stores... All I have to say is I didn't like it. Doesn't matter what it looks like anymore.

That's why I use my local grocery / department store for all Apple device purchases if they have the device. But, they carry iPods, iPhones, Apple TV, etc. So, is a great resource for try it and see what you think, and return if you're unhappy with it regardless of reason.

If I need LCD screens, I get them there too, cause if they have dead pixel, or damaged in some way, or I just don't like the quality, back it goes, no questions asked.

I've even returned things that I obviously broke, and they exchange it... They have great return policies. I've accidentally broken household stuff, small appliances, dropped light fixtures. They know I broke it, I tell them I broke it. They exchange it for me. No problems.

So glad I invested in an Otterbox Commuter case.

I think Apple should bring back the plastic from the 3G/3GS for the iPhone 7. Heck, I had a plastic Samsung in the late 90s and that phone was a tank.

Again, I want to see proof. If you saw something in half, and return it because "you don't like it" would not only be the most ******** reason, but that company would end up going out of business because of people like you.

Yup pretty much looks like it. I would have never guessed in a million years -MY- iPhone 6 would somehow get bent, and it reaffirms my thought that no one will actually care until it happens to them.

I will probably be calling apple care once again after work to try to get something done.

why didn't you get a case...i suggest you pay up 79 bucks or whatever and get another one.

Ok, so it was in your front pocket, you obviously did a sit-up or something to put enough pressure on it to bend it. Either you did it or someone else did it. It did not happen by itself!! You must have done it and did not notice the pressure you were putting on it which seems odd to me that you didn't feel it. News flash! Take care of your stuff.

Its pretty much impossible to not put pressure on your phone if its in your front pocket and you wear tight jeans. When I sit I can feel that my 5s is under some pressure, but it's always fine. I shouldn't have to buy new pants just so my phone is ok. I can't upgrade till next year, so hopefully if this problem is real, they get around to making the next iPhone much more sturdy.

I've been going a whole 24 hours without bending my phone. I'm scared now

Will Apple Store replace it if it's only a couple of days old?:eek::eek:

I've gone over 24 days without bending my phone.

I am scared too though. I thought we had put all this bendgate crap behind us. Makes me wonder how all our phones will look in 24 weeks, or 24 months.

Mostly because, if it bends slowly, it'll be detrimental to resale value. No one wants a bent phone from day 1.

I dont even put my iPhone in my back pocket, it has always been in the front. Why would I try to bend back a device that is NOT meant to be bent anyway?

you keep it in your front pocket and it bent by magic?

that's kind of impossible you know.....

I keep my 6 Plus in my front pocket and havent had a problem

i have been using my iPhone 6 for a month and it has not bent.

i have put pressure against my pocket (at work, unintentionally) multiple times and it's STILL not bent.

i do not believe these phones are bending from normal use. no way, jose.

Basically you're saying that, since your iphone didnt bend, no other iphone should ever bend. Its like somebody came to, let say BMW forums, and said that his brand new BMW 7 broke down for no good reason and then you would say "Well mine still works flawlessly therefore you broke your car on purpose and i dont believe that it stopped working just like that" Do you see the stupidity behind your logic? (and anybody elses blindly defending apple)

Actually, I noticed that my 6 plus was covered in lint when I took it out of my pocket. I can't remember this ever happening to my previous phones.

Are we seeing the beginning of... #LintGate?

:eek::eek::eek:

OP your phone is obviously bent.
The 6 bends and you can get another one but you'll just have to be super careful in the future. I've never seen any other non-iphone that has this problem.

say again?

I think you meant...

I dented my brand new BMW 7 while parking it...surely its a design flaw by BMW...

Well mine is still flawless so it was something you did to your BMW...

I've had my 6 Plus for 5 weeks now...it's flawless!!

oh dear what will happen in 10 weeks time. will it bend?
