I thought there was a huge news article about Apple saying they "WOULD" replace them?

again I don't really agree that they even should, people should treat there $600-$800 device as just that (especially if you are running caseless), otherwise just use a case!

Seriously you wouldn't be saying the same if this happened to you.

----------

You shouldn't require a case wow I can't believe the crap I hear here sometimes.

Steve jobs didnt even use cases, he hated them, a case shouldn't be required.

Yeah but Steve Jobs was able to replace his phone as often as he liked/needed to. :p

Do you notice that "bendgate" is only being kept alive on MR and a few other small sites? It's not even news anymore. No major outlet is even talking about it. It's had died quietly, as expected. The issue apparently, is not that widespread. It's now being replaced by the earth shattering blue jean dye on the antenna bands.

The larger media moves quickly to the next sensational story, so even things that are still ongoing can be ignored… for awhile at least.

It'll be at least a few months before anyone knows what is really going on with these phones.

Exactly. It'll be on the front pages again as soon as the class action gets filed.

It may get back on the front pages again if China decides to go after Apple. If a lot of customers there start complaining about bending, then the government may step in. They like to give US companies black eyes every once in awhile, just to let them know who is in charge.

You can see the irony there, right?

All you people saying that the phone won't bend itself so the OP is lying need to stop. Nobody is saying that the bend happened magically without force being applied to it. The OP and others are saying it happened under normal use, which is possible. Learn how to argue correctly instead of using a strawman argument. You're making yourselves look like fools.

Applying force to an electronic device is NOT normal use....

Phones that bend

I saw someone this week who had a bent Smartphone. AND it wasn't an iPhone

Bending devices

Applying force to an electronic device is NOT normal use....

Whether it was in a pocket or not; it's hard to see how any electronic device will bend without substantial force being applied. Just doesn't make sense to me.

It just isn't that.

If this is all based on "normal usage" and they sold millions of phones and those people use the phones "normally", then the lines for repairs/replacements at the Apple store would make the ordering lines look like small.

Not necessarily a design flaw. Maybe the Chinese supplier of the alloyed aluminum thought they could get away with a cheaper alloy in some percentage of the cases and no one would notice. If I were Apple I'd have the bent cases tested to see if the composition matches the specs in the requirements. Maybe one of their suppliers is being bad.

I was thinking of this too but I thought it'd come off as paranoid! Its weird because I've accidently slept on my iPhone 6 like 3 times so far and being slightly paranoid I measured the straightness/flatness of the device and its still pretty much perfect, short of using scientific instruments to see if there is "micro bending" I'm pretty sure its fine. I have the Space Grey iPhone 6 as well.

Be interesting to correlate phone bends with which front pocket the phone is kept in. As a leftie I keep mine in my left pocket, screen inwards, audio jack facing up.

No bends on mine (touch wood it stays that way) but I am more concerned over this iPhone version than previous ones. Personally I'm suspecting a bad run of phones rather than a general problem or we'd be seeing more bends.

This must be doing wonders for Applecare sales. I wonder how much extra cash Apple have made off the back of people worrying about this.

Learn what a stawman argument is and try to avoid using it. You clearly have no idea what it is if you think what I said was a strawman argument.

You made a claim (people said that the OP was lying) which you then railed against.

No one on this thread called the OP a liar.

That is a "stawman"

No seriously. Take a video of you buying something, destroying it and returning it. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim, as with all things.

You're obviously being thick and contrary just to ridiculously stand by an argument that most people with common sense already know to be a ridiculous stance.

Most of us have something better to do than to go and make a video just to post it and prove that someone sitting in their momma's basement is being ridiculous.

Now, I made a simple suggestion to help the original poster, and suggested that he look into buying his Apple hardware at department stores with more liberal return policies as a means of avoiding future complications.

Since he is the only one who matters in this particular thread, I'll not be investing time to go and make some ridiculous video to post for you. Anyone can walk into a department store and inquire of their return policies before purchase. Not worth anyone else's time to go through ridiculous hoops to entertain you.

The original poster is free to consider the advice, and see if another purchasing location might help him in the future. It's of no point for you to come in here and demand stupid videos.

Not all of us are from the ridiculous look at me I record my life and post it on facebook hoping for some validation from random strangers generation. Get over it.

Have you read the threads here?
Have you seen how upset people get when they don't get validation from a random stranger that they did nothing wrong wrt their bent phone?

We'll have to agree to disagree.

I can see how someone might be frustrated when they come to the community asking for useful ideas to resolve a situation and are instead met with a bunch of people who have nothing better to do than attack them and belittle them while claiming that they're lying.

Some fool claiming that they are making it up and demanding pictures is of no use. Likewise, the same fool attacking and trying to discredit anyone else's ideas who dare to offer productive solutions is ridiculous.

The thing is, the person demanding pictures as evidence, has no intention of ever providing useful suggestions as evidenced by further belittling after pictures were posted.

While all these hostile people believe they are somehow helping their precious Apple leader, they are in fact only adding to the frustration of the individual seeking useful suggestions and further increasing the likeliness that people will buy their next products from someone other than Apple.

Take for example the unreasonable opposition to the idea I proposed of buying Apple hardware from department stores with more liberal return policies. Some blind defender would rather attack that idea than accept that it might be a useful suggestion to help others resolve future problems. Apparently that blind defender also fails to realize that regardless of where an end user buys their Apple devices that the almighty Apple that they're defending still gets their money.

Seeking to discredit someone who asks for help, or those who offer them suggestions on resolutions, does nothing but temporarily allow the blind and unhelpful Apple defender a chance to puff their chests and emphasize their need to feel superior while seeking validation to feed their ego.

Strangely, no matter how much it backfires on them, they pretend they were victorious and keep proving to everyone that they have nothing useful to contribute as they are incapable of having independent thought and can only recite the same ridiculous propaganda that they've learned from other similarly useless people with ego issues.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Yes we will.

Hope the original poster has found a solution to resolve his situation.

UPDATE:

So I just called apple today and spoke to their advisers. The first person I talked to, tried to get me to purchase apple care plus. He told me my device was still within a window to get it and if I wanted I could purchase it now and get a brand new device for $79. I told him I would like to send it back for warranty purposes. He then sent me to another rep who I had to wait for about 20 mins. This adviser was much more helpful. I told them my situation - Basically said My iPhone is bending by the volume button. I did not do anything to cause any kind of bend and have only been using it normally. The device screen now has a yellow hue next to the volume button section of my phone (as I posted in another picture earlier) she said she has never heard of this problem before.

She then asked if I would like to setup an appointment with the genius bar, I explained to her that since I live in HI on an island that has no apple store that would be difficult. She then set me up with a return ticket. I gave her my address and she said she would ship over a box that I could use to ship my device back.

I asked for a replacement device to use while they have my phone and are examining it, (Because being in HI I would more than likely be without a phone for 1-2 weeks) she said she could do that for $29. Do I honestly think I should be paying for this replacement device while apple "checks out" my iPhone because of a manufacturing flaw on their end? No. But at this point I didn't try to dispute this charge because honestly im over it and just want my phone fixed.

So that's where im at now. Much more helpful apple response today and from the looks of it as of now, I will be getting a replacement phone once apple checks out my phone and makes sure the damage is not cause by accidental drop or water damage.

Will update if any changes happen so others who may be having this problem can follow suit.

Hey that's great. Glad you got someone to help you out.

The loaner fees are not unusual unfortunately. Even with memory replacement, they usually charge you to receive a replacement in advance of them receiving the defective merchandise.

That's to minimize the chances that you're just trying to get free merchandise without ever sending the product that is claimed defective. Essentially holding your money hostage until they receive the defective merchandise.

Usually that fee is refunded.

If Apple proposes to simply replace your phone after they inspect it, you could ask them to consider the loaner phone as your replacement and ask if they'd refund the loaner fees as it is a warranty replacement. Never hurts to ask.

Glad you're making progress.

Take it back to a store, if you are not bending it on purpose, they absolutely should exchange for you for free.

On purpose or not on purpose have little to do with this. Apple is not liable for your behavior but I feel they might replace it to avoid public backlash.

Living ON AN ISLAND IN HAWAII would offset any anguish over a bent iPhone and no Apple Store for me!:p

Glad you're getting a somewhat decent response. It does kind of suck that you have to pay for a replacement phone, but at the same time I can see why they would be charging for it. It would cost them a fortune otherwise since I'm sure most probably wouldn't return it. I would hope you could get that money back if you DO return it, though?

I think persistence seems to be key here. There doesn't seem to be a "set in stone" response, so it depends on the mood of the person you speak to at any given time.

That $29 fee is non refundable from what the rep made it sound like. It costs that much just for the "service" of sending me that replacement device.

They are pretty much putting a hold on my card for the full retail price of the replacement they are sending me($750 I think?). That charge will be removed once they receive my damaged iPhone.

Must be her first day. Every Apple employee I've talked to has been fully aware of the "rumors" about phones bending. Both of the ones who sold me new phones last week made it a point to list bending among the accidental damage items during their AppleCare spiel.
