Made an account here for this purpose alone, because it was driving me INSANE.

DATA POINT:

Bought an Iphone16Pro on the first day available. Issues:
- Swipe ups often don't register
- Swipe downs don't register probably about 1/2 the time
- Sometimes hitting buttons takes like 5 times to get it

Touch sensitivity is way off, it's like it's not sensitive enough.

I actually contacted apple support who then told me to go to the apple store. I went to the apple store and they did a screen test and actually did some test where they made my entire phone go blue. They said that the phone FAILED the test and actually gave me an entirely new phone TODAY. I just got home with the new phone and, incredibly, the exact same problems are persisting. Note that I'm using an apple-belkin screen protector.

Part of me wants to go back to the apple store to see if the brand new phone also fails the screen/touch tests and I get a third phone just for the lolz but part of me thinks it might just be a software issue that tricked the apple store into thinking it was a hardware issue. In any case, frustrating is through the roof- don't know exactly what I can even do because I only have this phone (traded in my old phone) and I'm engrained in the apple ecosystem.

HELP!

It’s really bad. Today was a bad day for me with swiping and touch commands not registering. Went to Apple support and they were so utterly useless and wasted my time. The guy tried to swipe down and wouldn’t work for him either lol. Im returning the phone

I genuinely would consider returning it but I'm so deeply entrenched into apple at this point (Mac, airpods, ipad, airtags) that I can't even fathom getting a non apple phone. My old iphone12 is probably in some factory at this point, long gone. And I'm paranoid that getting an old iphone would still have the same problems. Do I just wait to see if it's a software issue?

I would still return it and wait until Apple has fixed it before buying again.

I thought the touch screen thingy was only for you guys, but I’ve been noticing it now along with something completely different. I was unable to make outgoing phone calls three times and I had to soft boot each time to get it back working. Not good. I’ll give it a few more days. See if things settle down. Thank goodness a kept my 12 pro just in case.

Edit: Way too sensitive. I am now seeing numerous times while I scroll up/dn using my Finger or stylus lightly on youtube, a video would pop up, which I did not want to do. On my other iPhone 12, this never happened unless I actually clicked on the site.

I hear ya. I can’t get out of the ecosystem either. But I never sent my 15 pro max back so I just switched back. It’s so much lighter easier to handle and no touch issues

My iPhone 15 Pro Max (I haven't sold it yet) has zero touch issues with latest 18.0. So no need to abandon the eco system, just downgrade to 15 Pro Max.

I dont understand why so nagative ….
Apple should releae update next week , update for screen issue

I think it cant be harware , if its hardare issue , that is goodbuy forever apple.
Misstake that cant be forgivene

A lot of forum including this one released an article saying it’s a software issue to be rectifid in the upcoming iOS 18.0.1 update.

Even this video from Aron Zollotech (if I am spelling it correctly) says the same thing

How can you be sure? There had been hardware issues in the past due to quality control issues. The fact that I don't have this issues with the other iPhones that I still have including the 16, running the same software but only the 16 Pro Max has this issue? That should tell you that it can also be hardware related.

None of these links said they are for sure going to fix the issues with touch screen. They just assumed that it will fix them. I hope that they do, however, Apple has not even officially confirmed these issues right? Some of them even blamed the screen protectors.

Do you people read any of stuff on net????
BOA was a suplyer for regular iphone 16 and 16 plus.
Samsung and LG were for pro and pro max …..
There is a chance that there is a hardware issue , but , if its a hardare issue it would not be presented the same way to every pro and pro max

Apple is like every other company in the world ….
They will try to get away from that.
But again , they cant.
If they sold a bad product , they will pay at the end

But I am not sure also.
It can be a harware issue to , i just doub that.
Every pro and pro max that have issues have the same.
Right side of screen.
Camera issue.
Batery drain….

Pro max 15 . I have it.
Ut had so many issues , that its impossible to say them all.
S24 ultra , i own that one too.
Soooooo many isues to this day….
So , this one just came out.
The only thing that bithers me is this , ITS APPLE , they should test things forst and then fo them

My 15PM (on iOS 18) has identical behavior with keyboard lag/typing and general lag scrolling and bouncing around apps as my 16PM does. I very much doubt it’s a hardware issue. My iPad Mini on iOS 17 is fine of course.

Are you talking about different things partly? 15 PM have identical buggy behaviour, but it doesn’t have new camera control, how is it a combined problem?

Screen is laging after you touch that area of screen.
Or its a thing with wery small bezes , or something to with palm algoritham….

I am not saying it’s a combined problem. The new 16PM camera button is useless so I don’t even use it. I’m only talking about how atrocious and slow typing is on both my 15PM and 16PM running iOS 18.
