Still seeing this my 16 pro max that just got delivered today on 18.0.1. Night and day difference side by side compared to my 14 pro max. All kinds of key presses dropped with usual typing. Really unfortunate. Spoke to Apple support mostly just to make them aware the new update didn’t fix it and they seemed to not acknowledge it was a known issue despite it being in the patch notes

Doesn’t inspire much confidence

Anyone see any improvements on beta builds?

I also came from the 14 pro max. Upon setting up the 16 pro max, I immediately noticed the problem. Something is not right here. I've been buying iPhones since 2007 and have never had a similar problem. For that reason I had sold my 14 pro max the day my 16 pro max arrived. I had high hopes for this update. While it partially improved things it is still unusable and unacceptable for me. The screen sensitivity is just not like prior models. It's probably a hardware issue. I don't know if it's a bad batch of displays or what. I think the touchscreen problems with the 16 pro max models are not a single problem. Some had that weird camera button palm rejection thing while others had a general touch sensitivity problem. I had the latter problem. Something tells me Apple has decided the issue is fixed and that's it. I've decided to return mine tomorrow. I'll be getting the pro and hope for the best.

Experienced this on 16 Pro, slightly, was annoying but hoped it was a SW thing. Didn’t have anything of the other issues so thankful for that. Issue now gone after 18.0.1.

I called Apple support and they are aware of the issue, but when I question what Apple is planning on doing to remedy this, she had nothing to say other than they are working on it. Of course they are.

Now, tech support had me go into settings and go into Accessibility, then go into Touch, then Haptic Touch, then click on fast duration. I have to say it has worked for me. I am getting a better and faster response. Let me if that worked for you.

That didn’t work for me. Like someone said earlier, apple won’t fix this. I’m tempted to go the 15PM route, I just need to figure out how to get my wife’s 13PM back from trade in, if that’s even possible. IMO this is by far the worst iPhone ever to be released. I can deal with other little bugs, but the touchscreen has to be 💯, or else it ruins the whole experience for me.

Just upgraded to the 16PM from a 14PM and gosh holy **** I can definitely see the glitching. I thought I wasn’t touching the screen hard enough to register a touch but that’s not the case. I can almost reproduce the issue.

The update will improve the sensitivity but not fully fix it. If you have a screen protector on it, it makes worse.

Yeah I added a glass screen protector as I always do with my phones. Realized it was still on iOS 18. Updated to 18.0.1 and no dice. It’s still showing up. Typing isn’t as bad but swiping on the home screen is when I can typically reproduce the issue

I took my 16PM to apple and they said it was the screen protector. So I bought the belkin one they sell and it really isn’t any better. At first I thought it could have been my cheap Amazon protector, but I get the same results from the official apple one.

You got jipped into a $50 screen protector which costs $1 to make and comes from the same factory as the Amazon one. I would complain and get a refund.

Apple will not admit any manufacturing flaw until the problem is widespread enough. Either they will pretend nothing happened or officially acknowledge and recall. The latter doesn’t happen frequently.
Just like the battery health issue that is experienced by so many people - Apple never acknowledged that.

lol $50 screen protector. What planet am I on. They are already overpriced at US$5.
Resellers on Taobao / Aliexpress are earning so much just by pricing it at $5-6.
$50? Belkin doesn’t even slap a brand name on the protector itself.

But mind you since the 15 Pro Max the screen is very prone to scratches because they made it softer i.e. more flexible (not so easy to break). Given Apple’s claim of even better shatter resistance, the screen will be even softer and more prone to scratches. I think a screen protector is a must if you don’t want micro-scratches all over your screen.

So basically from all the comments what it means is that we will have to live with this half baked produce! If they are able to solve with a software update then brilliant, other wise go back to the older model or look upto the next one. There is no return policy where I live, so I am fffed up…

They’ll end up fixing it, or you’ll get so used it to that you’ll forget it’s there.

They won’t fix it. To them they already did and if the phone works as should without a protector, then why would it be their problem? That’s the way I think Apple views this. I live in the USA and I believe Verizon gives us a 30 day return window. I knew I should’ve just waited for the 17 next year.

My regular 16 when I updated to 18.0.1 actually became worse and wasn’t registering a lot of my touch. Just got a 16 Pro today, so far ok with touch. Let’s see.

Can you try this I’m curious?: Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size. Are you able to drag the slider left and right (don’t lift your finger) to change the text size? I can’t on my 16 Pro iOS 18.0.1

Or try the slider for accessibility >display>reduce white point. Slide that baby.

To replay to you.
Cant do that it stops at few points , right and left but it stops on 15 pro max as well.
What is your point?
