At this point, we can say it’s not a glass protector issue. We’ve used these glass protectors on many generations of iPhones and suddenly on this generation an issue appears and the blame is shifted to the screen protector? That doesn’t make sense.

It’s a hardware or software issue. Hopefully a software issue that can be remedied quickly with 18.1.

Has anyone seen any other issues on the 18.1 betas?
You can’t rule out the glass screen protectors by claiming that in the past generations they didn’t present an issue. Since Apple claim they have revised their ceramic glass design again on these current devices. Not saying it’s a tempered glass issue but also on the same hand can’t say it isn’t. Only lay method is to have a pool of people that have the issue to use without tempered glass and see how it goes.

super disappointed with the 16Pm touch problem- I'm not smart enough to know for sure if it's hardware or software but I know for sure mine has not worked correctly since day one- four or five taps sometimes to get a press registered. I'm passed the return window now for the 16PM but will go back to my 15PM if the 18.1 doesn't fix the issue. Really infuriating. As others have said already, this might be as good as it gets for the 16PM screen... I have lost a lot of respect/confidence in Apple over this 16PM.

My screen has no issues without a screen protector, but something is definitely not right since I’ve been using screen protectors ever since. I’ve wasted a lot of screen protectors trying to find ones that work, but none of them have.

No issues with my iPhone 16 Pro. I’ve had the Torras screen protector on since day 2 after release. Haven’t experienced any of the problems mentioned in this thread. Honestly, glad I haven’t, because I can get super OCD about stuff like this. Haha. :)

Those hoping Apple will ever deal with this issue again are sadly too optimistic. Apple will never ever address this issue again. As far as they're concerned, the issue is resolved. I'm almost positive the issue is hardware related and they did some kind of software voodoo to mitigate the problem but that will only take you so far. I returned my 16 pro max, I'm not gambling with 1800 dollars. If you're gonna ask for that kind of money, the least you can do is not ship defective products and then blame screen protectors. I simply can not use a device as expensive as an iphone without a screen protector. My 14 pro max was dropped twice and the screen was saved twice thanks to a screen protector.
I can't agree more.

Its really put me off buying an iphone 16 pro. I'm going to hold off until we have clarity. May even turn my attention to the iphone 15 pro.

My expirience is like this....
So, first of all , the screen lag is app dependeble...
Not on every app is the same , for example , on i message there is almost no lag.
On safari , so and so.
On viber and whatsapp , there is a big lag.
Is it better , yes it is , is it as on 15 pro max , or 14 pro max , no its not.
Now , the whole keyboard is diferent , it is wider than on 15 pro max.
Cant say , to me it feels better , i fell lag on letters m , l , p , o , n , b , and on backspace

Are you using screen protector?

Are you using screen protector?
are you really gonna go that road?
Yes I am using screen protector , but guess what , I have the same one on 15 pro max , it has no issues , 14 pro max , it has no issues , 13 pro max , again no issues?????
Its the same as if you would say to me , dont use that parfum in the car , because car will stop then

To get down to the issue it helps to know if people are having issues when a screen protector is used. Like you said the past iPhones had no issues when using a protector, so Apple needs to figure out why the 16 pros are having these issues when a protector is used. It could be a calibration issue. Maybe Apple needs to implement a setting like the S24 that increases the touchscreen sensitivity when a screen protector used.

Why are you flying off the handle?
They just asked about the screen protector. Nothing implying you’re doing something wrong but just to see if there’s any correlation.

Hello guys
I have still problem with touch of my iPhone pro max 16, after iOS 18.0.1.
Is there anyone that have still problem?
Thank u

well according to this post #256 https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/screen-brightness-on-16-pro-max-merged.2436942/page-11

And the post below it. The display is a different technology than prior iPhones panels. He has some screenshots referencing some screen guru on twitter or X or whatever you want to call it these days. I just got some lag when typing on here. But generally speaking not anywhere else when typing.

Amen. Some good solid ideas, especially the last paragraph.

Greetings to all.
I didnt ment to be rude ....
Far from it.
But , to answer first , yes I am using screen protector , always was using it and probably always will.
Now , my point of view for screen protectors is this.
If I payed 2000€ for my device , and I did , i expect it to work flawlessly for next two years , and then for two more to be good if I replace battery.
Now , older models have been using screen protectors without any issues , and if one Iphone SE can use it and work without any issue , that it would be logical for pro max 16 to work without any flaw.
So , why am I sooooooo against the idea that people here talk and that is mentioning screen protectors.
You are just giving Apple ideas , ideas to tell us all , nooooo your phones are fine , remove screen protectors.
Sure
I will
I will remove them , as soon as they will give me watanty that whenever I scrathc my screen that I can get screen replacement , yeah sure , I will , untill then , they will have to learn how to make a phone that screen works with screen protectors?
Are you all understanting me now better?

What apple did is this , they just did some software fix , and they made our phones useble , just that , usable , so that we dont return them.
Can they fix the issue . Yeah , sure they can , its apple.
will they , not if we dont push them.
They make better phones than s24 ultra is . But still s24 ultra has that options.
Their screen works with leather glows.....
Not with screen protctors.
So , what apple needs to do , is to make us a propper fix , not just a fix , not fix that will work and that is it.
After they make it . They need to test it . That is where we come in , we the users.
If we are like , hurry up , hurry up , of course they will mess things up.
So , what I am saying is this.
I will give them a month , 21 day to be exact.
In my book they have more 21 days to dind a solution , if they do , that is it . I am remainig loyal to apple.
If they dont , i will make a noise , so much of a noise that I will even swith to another brand

The 15 Pro Max has had touch issues near the top of the screen since launch that have never been fixed, but apparently hardly anyone has noticed it because its in a very small area above the dynamic island. I've tested it on multiple 15 Pro Max phones, and it's definitely some kind of software bug. Makes pulling down the notification window from the middle-top of the phone very unreliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. I think most people either pull down the notifications from the top-left (which always works), or they just don't pay attention to it when it glitches out from the center.🙃

Romanson, I was only asking question if you're using screen protector because I am curious. I took off my screen protectors two days ago and it's been working as it should. It only happens when I put on screen protectors. Regardless Apple screwed up somewhere since I've been using screen protectors ever since I started using iPhones and never had this issue.
