If someone wants to check their touch screen, let them turn off their phone, wait 30 seconds. Then press and hold the vol up and vol down button (2 at the same time) and connect the phone to the charger. When the Apple logo appears, release the buttons. The phone will turn on in self-test mode. Accept the terms of use, connect to your local Wi-Fi network and you can choose the touch screen test. I think that for many people this will clarify the situation whether it is the hardware or software that is faulty.

Unfortunately this test will not detect the issue I have on my launch day 16PM - input lag. But it works good to find out if any part of the touch screen is not responding to input at all.

Yes, you're right, it won't detect any input lag, but people write that sometimes the screen doesn't respond to clicks at all and this test will check it great.

So basically it will rule out any HW issues with the touch screen if passed?

When I initially set up my iPhone 16 Pro Max, I experienced screen freeze two or three times. Since I’ve restore it and set it up as new (not from a backup), I’ve not experienced screen freeze at all thus far.

I've been very surprised at how fast and responsive my new 16 Pro Max is , it's been 10/10.

The camera also seems more better and the pictures more sharper, camera pictures on my launch 16 Pro Max were very washed out.

I've learnt my lesson to never buy any phone at launch, better to wait a month or two.

I, too, find the 16 Pro Max to be fast and responsive. I’ve only taken a few pics, but they all came out very nice. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Today i talked to the apple engineer that trouble shoot my phone apparently this is definitely a software issue they said as all phones all having this issue,

so far they have yet to seen a sept build and dont hv that issue which at the end half of the button can click

perhaps jajo.j can snap some video for us then we can use this proof to ask them to replace our phone

as of now they have replaced my august build to july build and it works fine in everyways except that part where its near to the bezels

and i tested all phones demo units at the apple store all same issue as well as some that is august build

all buttons works fine except the bezel part

and they ran diagnostics and everything clear so they cant change another for me as well unless proven its really hardware issue :(

so best bet is wait for ppl with sept build to post some videos then we can proof to them

I have not seen the latest posts/comments here. I recently received an iPhone 16 pro max 256 for work instead of the 512 GB that I have as my personal, and it’s obvious the issue is hardware.

Both phones have the latest software and are set up as new. My personal 16 Pro Max has an August build versus my work phone having a September build date.

Settings > Battery > Health

I don't know any other method.

After spending some more time with the phone it is absolutely night and day difference. This one is just like my 15 Pro Max. 10/10 snappiness. The previous 16PM is a 7/10. I can hit the backspace key quickly without any delay at all. Instant.
I believe that would be for the battery manufacture date.

You guys think that Apple can change hardware of a phone within 4 weeks after release? Don’t think so.

If I were to produce millions of iPhones I would have stock for atleast a couple of months before release.

So yes, I think it’s software related. Otherwise no improvement would be noticeable after ios 18.0.1

Bring both to the Apple Store and let them compare. Should warrant a replacement.

From what I have read on the internet this date is when the phone was assembled. If you exchange the battery then the date will obviously not show manufacture date anymore. Regardless, the battery is unlikely built after the phone so the date has some significance.

It is not clear that this issue is related to manufacture date. But it is very alarming that two identical phones with same software behaves completely different. That indicates hardware to me.

So a video where I tap the right part of the backspace button and the phone reacts to the tap. Would that be helpful?

I am about to ask something that may sound stupid, but if there were a problem with our iPhones and it was deemed to be hardware related, doesn't Apple by law have to recall the iPhones that are affected? I would think with enough people having the issue if Apple refuses to recall these iPhone that there would be a Cass A Law Suit, for these iPhones are over $1,000.00 each.

Who’s going to deem it hardware-related?

not the case. The phone i have battery as manufactured in August, phone was in October. I checked thru phone analytics is where you can find it on first boot.

Would like to know how to find this. Please write a detailed guide how to find the manufacturing date if you have time :)

Does anyone have an iPhone 16 Pro Max “assembled in India” ? Just bought mine this week and I have the touch issues as well. Moreover I’m kind of frustrated my $1500 phone is made in India, where lower tiers iPhones used to be assembled

Setting > Privacy & Security > Anaytics & Improvements > Analytics Data. This only work when you first boot are you purchase before you even synch it to your computer. Off you have not plugged into your computer yet, it still may be there.

Example. I purchased this 256 gb pro max and shows that last test done was 10/1/24. I got this phone less than 5 days ago. So i just use that to determine that it was recently built.

Funny post you have no idea about India, you are just blaming something which has no relevance, no proofs.

You are giving a very old and irrelevant article. The pro line up are still not made in India. They will be but not yet!
My 16 Pro Max is litteraly “assembled in India” on the box and in the USB-C port do you want a photo ? Why would I lie ?
